Ya and how many Moving connected parts go into that train? It sounds like the train car itself is just millions of moveable small parts that could easily break. No Im Alright with that
I agree, it looks to be on the dumb side. Ride may be ok, but with that many complicated moving parts and variables, it's just not worth the payout in the end.
However Skara Sommerland disagrees with that and they are building one for 2009. Artwork is at http://www.screamscape.com/assets/image ... _art21.jpg There is alot better artwork and whatnot on the European sites, but that will have to do for now.
POV and some stuff on the trains is on S&S's(RES) offical youtube site.
It's the Whirl-Fly finall born after over 100 years And the idea was totally stupid Now they just have the ability to make whatever they want
S&S rides are bad looking. I only like the look of the Screaming Swings. I am anxious for ring°racer though, it looks like a nicely designed ride. I am also eager to see how it goes so fast, and doesn't go like 500 feet in the air. I would imagine that would be a cooler ride. Maybe low, subtle hills for intense airtime.

The concept or that layout? It would not have such a basic layout like that...it got the job done as a prototype and who knows that that thing could really do..

Not really...main parts you have are your standard wheel components, sets of springs/shocks, and sets of bearings..maintaining the cars wouldn't be too hard if they could stay well lubricated.
The ride seems to be all about forces.....If those cars stay as they are with rails on the sides, I hope they add padding along the sides or have the seats widen and partially wrap around you. Otherwise I could see it being a bad experience every time.
http://themeparkcritic.com/scripts/profile/ViewProfile.asp?ViewID=2909 A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!
I think that this could be cool if it were in a building in the dark, otherwise i would say it does look a little on the dumb side as of right now. Capacity cant be that great either...
Remember, there's nothing but air beneath the chair.
I think the ride will not be about forces at all, as they will likely have simple restraining devices and those free swinging cars need to remain upright under any and all circumstances. The one opening next year seems pretty tame, I think it will be nothing more than a family coaster.

It's definitely a different concept, but it seems rather tame, and I imagine it would have low capacity. Seeing that test video reminds me of old Arrow prototype videos...
I think it "looks" kind of lame but I think riding it will be a completely different experience...the experience of spiraling around while moving forward will be amazing.

S&S coasters are the best out there in my opinion. They're very different from the average coaster and they give an experience that no other ride can offer (in most cases). J2 at Clementon is the exception, but I think that has to do more with poor maintenance than the design.
/\ Dont know if I agree with that. J2's/Tsunami/Hellcats design is so intense and furious for a wooden coaster that after a few years of operating its inevitably going to beat the hell out of you, Avalanche does now also in the back of the train.
^ When did you ride J2? In 2007 I rode it and it wasn't that good. The final bunny hills are fun, but the rest of it is just a twister design. Fun, but not an awesome woodie.

Well, as someone who has ridden very few S&S roller coasters, I can't judge the ride quality, but I still believe their structures of their rides and roller coasters are unappealing. Like, the sky swatter looks like a construction crane or something. Like, look at this picture as an example: http://cache.rcdb.com/pictures/picmax/p16039.jpg
Also, has anyone ridden a screaming squirrel? From my point of view, they look really painful. I have been anxious to know how they are. And I want to hear about Afterburner.
Well, S&S is American designed and manufactured, so them looking like crap is to be expected.
Another good historic example would be Arrow and Vekoma, for lift hills and other tall structures on Arrow they used what looks exactly like scaffolding. Vekoma always used solid pipes more like B&M and other manufacturers (as B&M was not around when Vekoma was in their heyday). Only exception is Ninja at SFStL which is a Vekoma that Arrow moved from a worlds fair (I think in washington), terrain was all different so Arrow redid some structure including the lift hill which converted to scaffolding.
