So screamscape's "sources" have confirmed that SFMM will be getting one of the two GCI coasters for six flags in 2009(RCDB still says that the new coaster will be steel ) .. as if MM needs another coaster...
Rant below (kind of)
what pisses me off is the fact that Six flags is ignoring their parks and giving most of the attention to SFMM and SFGAdv . i mean what about SFKK. half the park is closed and six flags doesn't be seeming to make any effort to fix the problems while SFMM. is getting new coasters. almost every 1-2 years. what i can understand is the fact that there is a lot of competition out in california so SFMM needs to attract more guests....
yeah...

I am also angry about this. Like Magic Mountain needs a new coaster, all they have is 15 other coasters. I say add some more flats in the park that would cost less money and get more families.
Six Flags America could use something assuming Six Flags is going to keep that park for the next 5 years.
Great Escape really needs something. I actually think The Dark Knight should go where NaCAC was.
La Ronde and Six Flags Mexico are also in need of Something.
What actually amazes me about all the news and rumors is that Six Flags Hasn't said anything about Selling New Orleans.

Okay that was sorta already known, but certainly not confirmed. However, what was news to me is that he said it'll be themed to the Terminator franchise!
There is some sense in there, though. Terminator: Salvation is set to come out in 2009 starting Christian Bale instead of the Governator - so there will be a very current media tie in for the ride.
But still! A wooden coaster themed to the Terminator? I don't see it. At all. Six Flags' tie in to the Dark Knight worked because Batman was already all over the parks and it was indoors and themed. Evel Knievel made no sense as a wooden coaster but at least the man was thrill seeker so in a vague sense there's a connection.
But Terminator and a classic style wooden thriller? I don't see it. Do you guys? Leave a comment...
I personally don't see SFA or SFKK staying around much longer
The last major investment to SFA was Superman in 2002 (I believe)...and they can't seem to upkeep what they have now.
And I just returned from a visit to SFKK...the only park that rebels against the new neon yellow uniform. I asked a lead why the park didn't receive the new uniforms and his response was "Management said we had so many leftover old uniforms that it would have been a waste to throw those out and get the new ones"...which seems odd, because the uniform change was a company decision, not park based (also not to mention the closed off section)

Uhhhh... La Ronde just got the B&M Hyper Goliath...
I agree with what bigb7965 said about SFMM always getting new coasters. I think that Great Escape, Kentucky Kingdom, SF America, and SF Mexico could use a new coaster more than SFMM. However, SF Mexico doesn't really have any competition, so they're probably the least of corporate's worries.

So thier getting a wooden coaster named terminator... Odd... I can see it in place of Psyclone or Flashback though.
I also see no way to connect a Terminator movie to a wooden coaster, escpecially at a SF park which has a lousy track record of properly theming rides.
And has anyone contacted the company that owns the right to the Terminator franchise to see if there is any truth to this??? Escpecially since there already is a Terminator show at Universal and im guessing the company that owns theTerminator rights would much to work with a company that has a record of building immersive rides, and that SURE ISNT SF!!!
I hope the Terminator part of this rumor is wrong!!!!! I would much perfer a upcoming Terminator movie have a tie-in with a theme park that can properly build a attraction.
I'm reminded on In The Loop where they said the names of rides don't matter.
After a Wooden Coaster themed to Evel Knieval and And a Wooden Coaster themed to Terminator
I think it does matter with these cases.
My Theory on this is that Shapiro Picks the names for their BIG rides first and then Park Managers pick the rides?
OR
The Parks pick the names of the rides and Shapiro picks the Rides that are going to each park. I have more faith in this one. I don't think... Make that Hope that Six Flags Great America Management is dumb enough to not know they had a mouse already.
Well, I think they give the more coasters to the more popular parks, Magic Mountain is very popular, and so is Great Adbenture, they are by the biggest cities in America. Our Six Flags is by Chicago and that is why ours is pretty popular too. Kentucky Kingdom isnt by a very large city, and after that accident with Superman lst year, that park will prbably be sold soon.
^ Your right with the Large cities, but I dont see SFKK being sold anytime soon, even with the incident last year.
But you know I can actually see a Terminator wooden coaster...
If it was like the Voyage with silver steel supports, and then they painted the wood on the track black or something. Then the station would have incredibly heavy theming like BTR... It could be done.
PKD is the biggest competition for SFA. Having family in the area I can say that they always choose PKD over SFA because they feel safer at King's Dominion. Apparently more teenagers visit SFA and more families visit PKD, go figure.
Top 5 wood-5-Goliath 4-Ravine Flyer II 3-Phoenix 2-Voyage 1-El Toro Top 5 Steel- 5-Velocicoaster 4- Maverick 3- Fury 325 2-Steel Vengeance 1-X2 Coaster Count: 444
Bob O wrote:Yes it could be done, and will suck!!!!!
How would it suck? I mean, its just a theme. It doesnt mean the ride will be terrible because of the theme of the ride... If its a sweet coaster like El Toro and has a kick *** atmosphere, it could be descent...
