parking garages dont work for buses : /. etc. and i would hope that if sfgam invested that much it would be for a rollercoaster
You can still leave space for buses... They don't take up too much room. Besides, a parking ramp would free up space for park expansion.
Universal Studios Hollywood has a huge parking garage. It takes up a lot less space than a regular parking lot. So they should tear up all of the parking lot and put in a huge parking garage.

yes then they would have to move the entrance gate, whuch would be very expensive because i dont think they could build around it because of security , etc.

Travis,That is one of the best Ideas I've heard in a long time! Building a parking garage would really save SFGAM a lot of space . Then they would have all that space in the old parking lot which they would tear up to build more rides. Maybe then we could get a coaster longer and bigger than Raging Bull! WOW, that would be awesome!!! Maybe someone should go to one of the top SFGAM reps. and tell them this idea!!

Then they'd charge more for parking... the cost of building a garage is about 10X the price, per stall, of a flat lot. It's never gonna happen! (But I guess we can always hope!

A parking garage wouldn't cost anymore than a roller coaster... I definately wouldn't mind them skipping a coaster and building a parking garage. It would ensure that the park has future expansion area. That would enable them to build MORE roller coasters! That's what we all want right??
Look at it this way, though: Every season, the park has to have something to advertise. If they spend their entire "improvements budget" for the year on a parking lot, what's there to advertise???"Now with more room for future expansion... come see our wide open area which will eventually have rides! You wouldnt even need to construct a parking garage.Now that the Washington St. access road is no longer used and I dont foresee them using it at all due to the removal of the parking fee booth, they could easily tear up the bus parking lot and the car lot directly behind it.That is plenty of room to build a new territory. The overflow backlot near the tollway would then be used on a normal basis filling up more than it does now.For guests to access this new territory could do so starting where SSA, Sky Trek Tower and the go-karts reside.

What does the park advertise when they don't add anything new?? They just advertise all the rides... Just like last year (the "So big, so close" commercials)! They don't add a new roller coaster every year, so they don't always have something brand new to advertise anyway... They just advertise the general park.
Yeah, but what I'm saying is, that in the seasons where new coasters are not added, they don't have to spend as much money on upkeep.If you're going to spend as much money as a new coaster, you better have something to show for it. Six Flags, Inc. is losing money constantly. They're not going to spend that much if they can't advertise that they spent a huge amount of money.
I believe the best possble answer is building the parking garageunderneath the current parking lot, and tear up the lot and add all the territories around the entrance so when you come up you are in the middle of the park(The entrance gates).You enter the park and your are in the middle.PS Does Six Flags have an comments page then someone can send them ideas. The must have one beacuse of the public outcry they had for the Whizzer.
Now that is a good solution!Only problem: What about drop offs? People who don't drive to the park. Do they walk through the underground parking?
I just checked on the official Great America website. There is no way to contact them via E-mail. They do have a mailing address so maybe if enough of us write a letter to the park they will decide to build a parking garage, and expand the park into the old parking lot. They will see the public outcry for expansion and do just that just like what happened with the Whizzer. The Public wrote letters of complaint, and letters saying they should save whizzer. What happened after enough letters came in? They decided to save the Whizzer.So who's with me on the idea of all of us writing letters to the park?

Im with you to add a parking garage, Im writing a letter right now. The can add a mini buss for the drop off zone. I always use it and it is a long walk.
Wow, do you really think outcry saved Whizzer? And do you think outcry will suddenly change their 5 (or how ever many) year plan they have already set in motion? It takes more than outcry to change X-year plans.
They know exactly what is going on in the next couple of years.

you guys are lucky that t_biggs isnt prowling around so ill ahve to take his place really quickBuilding an underground parking lot will never happen it would be way to expensive and the construction would likely cut into the season because they cant work underground when the ground is frozen and in order to make an underground parking lot big enough it would be way to expensive and risky. remember this isnt rct. if we are going to play games and trhink sfgam will actualy listen to us lets stick to above ground parking garage!
LOL. I said underground for one reason-for more expansion room than you would have wit an above ground expansion.
it would cost to much money and would most likely cut into the season and i was just thinkin if sfgam just moved their staff parking lot and their storage crap over to the other side of the tollway and shuttled their workers over there would be tons of land to build new territorys and stuff
thats an other great idea. I never see the empolye parking lot near full.

That way, on your way in, you could see the new part of the park before even getting in the park. Plus, it would probably be a first, a park's entrance in the middle of the park.
