Abandoned Amusment Parks

I went to Dollywood a couple years back and their was a coaster right behind our hotel. The park was the Rock'n Raceway, where that owner was just put in jail for murder. However, the Thunder Eagle was just sitting there not operating and from our 7th floor hotel balcony, it kind of looked sad. It kind of adds an eerie feeling of emptiness to the space around it, it was upsetting.

Why would someone just neglect a coaster like that and not do something with it?

^The owner was on trial for murder and they weren't sure whether the park would open again or not, they later ended up removing the ride and it is at a different park right now, not sure which though.

The one i mentioned is running in canada now. That is all i know.
