Which coaster do you like better. I like Mantis better because it is Faster,Longer, Highter, and has more inversions.

Mantis all the way. Iron wolf is too short and is going to fall apart soon because its old.

FRD, do you see bolts popping out as IW runs its course or something? no! there are plenty of other older coasters in worse repair that function just fine so don't expect IW to fall into a scrap heap next season or anytime in the near future.
I don't have a detonator; its on a timer.
A countdown timer?
No, a count-up timer. It goes from one to explode.

Mantis all the way, it's not a headbanger, it doesn't hurt me with the bicycle seat like Iron Wolf, it has a lot more inversions, faster, smoother, higher, hangtime on the first loop, it's over water in parts, it's WAY longer, did i mention better looking, and the list goes on and on. Sorry Iron Wolf fans, but mantis wins for me.

Iron Wolf and Mantis are both pretty much non-stop action. It's a tough choice between the two for me, as neither of them ever give me any headbanging whatsoever.

I"ll call this one a draw.

Mantis since the entire 2nd half of the ride is the same as Iron Wolfs which is the best part of Iron wolf.

I perfer IW, it's alot more compact and intense. And at one time it was alot smoother than Mantis. Though both are decent coasters, though when I'm at CP I generally skip Mantis.

Mantis, I didn't bang my head at all and I find it more intense. The dive loop is the best part of the ride.

^ I agree, i didn't headbang at all on Mantis and that Dive Loop was incredible! The only problem with Mantis, is that my ankles hurt by the end, it still beats Iron Wolf though.

Definatley Iron Wolf.

I've ridden both and that trim on the first hill make's all the difference on Mantis. It actually hurt more than Iron Wolf.

Well, they both have their upsides and downsides.

UPSIDES

Mantis: It's longer, taller, faster, and the shoulder restraints are softer for those of us who aren't tall enough to be over the top.

Iron Wolf: It's one of the first stand-up coasters, so there is the sentimental factor to it, and it doesn't hurt my legs.

DOWNSIDES

Mantis: Like stated above it hurt my ankles A LOT, it's almost too long because of that. At the time you should be really enjoying yourself you're praying for the ride to be over before your ankles snap.

Iron Wolf: Very bumpy, the shoulder restraints are hard and it really hurts my cartiledge piercings (can't really take those out), the seats are a little uncomfortable. And it's a little short.

But overall, I think that Mantis is better when weighed out.

How would you know that it's bumpy if you haven't been on it...?

I would have to say Iron Wolf.
I liked Mantis but it definitely banged my head more. And yeah my legs fell asleep because of the power of the g's, especially in front row. Although Mants still is enjoyable.

In my opinion:

I thought Mantis was so-so.... IW is deffinately better.

However, Riddlers Revenge clearly is THE BEST STAND-UP ON THE PLANET!

Just for kicks:

Heres how I rank the stand-ups i've been on:

1.Riddlers Revenge
2.Chang
3.Iron Wolf
4.Mantis

Chang, as i have said in previous threads has ridiculous load and unload times because they often run one train on the ride.

I like how Mantis has more elements that Iron Wolf, but I actually prefer Iron Wolf due to the tight turns.

I'll come back out for a minute for this. I like these sorts of conversations :)

I would take the original, non-braked-drop version of Mantis over Iron Wolf any day. As it stands, I don't think either are rides worth riding.

Interesting fact: Iron Wolf is often touted by the park as being the first ride that B&M did, and while this is true, did you know that B&M designed rides for Intamin before Iron Wolf?

Take a look at Shockwave (made in 1986) from Magic Mountain (most recently seen as Batman: The Escape at Astroworld):

Stand Up (made in 1988) in a park in Sweden (most recently seen as Cobra at La Ronde, still operating):

http://www.rcdb.com/ig51.htm?picture=1

Look familiar?

Personally, I've never liked any of the B&M stand ups. I liked the creativity of the Togo Rides much more.

I've been on both.

This last summer at CP on Mantis i had a problem with the operator. She kept insisting that my feet were not far enough back. Then she finally let the operator lock my seat and it was way to high and it really hurt. That was the first time that ive had a problem on that ride. Ive had a season pass for CP for 3 years and maybe only been on mantis 5 times. That was the first time ive had a problem at CP.

Iron Wolf on the other hand is a smooth ride if you keep you head against one side of the car. Iron wolf is tiny compared to Mantis. IW was the first roller coaster for B&M and was the coaster in the movie Richie Rich so thats kind of cool.

If I have to choose I pick Iron Wolf. Its closer to home and i can ride it more often.

^I know that cracked me up. My husband tries desperatly for a little "breathing" room down there when ever he rides Iron Wolf. But when we rode Mantis 2 weeks ago, they made him stand on tip toes, then stand straight, and BOOM they locked the seat and it was about 1/4 inch too high. Cedar Point is VERY tricky to get you to stand up properly on it. I can always get 2 inches of space on Iron Wolf.
