SFGRAM Fright Fest 10/29 Over crowded again!

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Stoogie on October 29th, 2005, 11:23 pm
Well, we just got home from Fright Fest and guess what? It was over crowded again. We got so fed up with the long azz lines and rude people, that we left at 7 pm. As we are leaving the park, we notice that all the ticket windows are open with at least 200 people in each line, a line of traffic waiting at the parking gate. There must have been over a couple thousand people still waiting to get into the park. We got to ride Demon, superstition, the Imax movie and went thru Necro a couple of times. I am really starting to get fed up with how stinking crowded the park gets during FF. What I could not believe though, were the SWARMS of peeps waiting to get into an all ready over crowded park. SFGRAM management really nees to get a handle on how many people they let in the park. On the 15th it was over 49,000. We had free tickets today, but still walked away dissappointed. Batman, Dejavu closed all day. I had fun watching the Scaracters and going thru Necro. We noticed at 6:30 that the Scaracters were on level 2 too. The crowds don't make FF fun for me anymore.

Batman closed? Wow, that's unusual. I hope that's not the case today.

I'm suprised Batman is still closed. It went down around 5:30 on Friday due to sensor problems on the lift hill. Very odd that it would cause two whole days of down time and still might not open today.

That day was 'overcrowded' but not compared to 10/15. The attendance reached 35,000.

At 7 pm yesterday, there were hundreds and hundreds of peeps still coming into the park and everyone was walking shoulder to shoulder and bumpping into everyone else. Bull's line stretched all the way into hometown square with a 3.5 hour wait and Viper was not any better.

Why doesnt great america take the money they make off the event and put it into making the event more enjoyable and less crouded? Like build another haunted house to soak up the crowds a little bit?

I really think we should have a larger halloween event. I mean, Magic Mountain has 6 haunted houses, and they're all free! I mean, you can even play off the regular themeing. Make some kind of circus of the bizzare haunted house in CF, A southwest Type Gun-fight or something, the Maus in necro. Area 51, There's so much they could do, and considering we have such high attendance and stuff, I think they could put more into our halloween event. Not that I'm unhappy with ours. I love walking around, in fact I've only ridden Viper and Demon in the way of coasters since FF started, and no flats except terror twister and Superstition, so don't take this as a complaint about our FF, but I definatly think that having Necro, Area 51, and Seven Sins Cemetary, as well as the addtion of FG was a step in the right direction for Great Americas Halloween Event.

The crowds HIGHLY irritated me. About the 20th time someone ran into me, I almost beat their azz. My girlfriend stopped me.

Wow...tough guy.

Seriously though, you went on the last Saturday of the year. Did you expect it to be dead? If you are complaining about the crowds, then get a life. Someone runs into you because the midways are crowded, not because they want to piss you off. If you get mad over that, you need some anger management classes.

Binks, they are free because SFMM is desperate for guests. Like REALLY desperate. Probably the same reason they have six houses.

Kids were running into people because they thought it was funny to do it. They need to be either kicked out of the park or dealt with severely. Heck yeah, If someone looks at me and then runs into me, I'm gonna kick their butt because mommy and daddy never taught them any respect for other people. I HATE inconsiderate little nasty acting BRATS! You get a life!

I hate those kind of kids too but you need to calm down a bit. Beating their ass will get you no-where, except kicked out of the park.

Yeah, thats true Jon, but man, it's so irritating because to pay 44 bucks to get in, the lines are 2 hours, you get to ride maybe 4 rides the whole day if you stay til close. What I don't understand is why in the heck can't parents teach their BRATS some manners? If I ever found out that my child acted like that, he or she would be grounded indefinately. Some Kids today do not have any respect when there parents dump them out at a park or mall or wherever because the parents consider the park or mall or whatever to be a BABYSITTER. I wanted to go to FF to enjoy myself, my famliy, the scaracters and rides without being harrassed by these brats that don't even know how to wipe their own azzes with being told how and when to do it. Geez. I drove an ultra long way and it just sucks that the park can't control the crowds so a DECENT person can enjoy their day! Being so far away and having the job that I have and my work hours, I get to the park maybe once every couple of years.

^ Welcome to life after the waterpark. I have come to the conclusion that the park will forever be this crowded every weekend. Although good for the park profit wise, it sucks for park goers. GAm will be picking up the slack for the losses at the other parks at our expense.

Season Pass sales tripled this year due to the waterpark. I had a discussion with a CP higher up last weekend who hit it right on the head. The waterpark was a mistake. Not as far as profit, but customer enjoyment. They likely have no cap on the amount of season passes they will sell, and anyone in Chicago to Milwaukee and everyone in between will be seeing this as a great deal, getting a pass, and packing the park.

Now on hot days you can get there at opening and get some solid riding in (so far), but once HH closes those 9000 people will be filtering into the coaster park thus ruining the traditional short night lines. Obviously the park could care less they see $$$.

And now future expansions will be on HH, which I can't stand going into with Noahs Ark being an hour and half away from me, so I probably won't see a new coaster at my home park for a looonnggg time. But, if things go right, I will be calling CP or KI my home park very soon. :P

We also left at 8pm but it was OK because we stayed up there this weekend and went back on Sunday which was better. The funniest thing Saturday was at the freak show. Some guy kept interrupting Ses Carny and he told the guy that if he continued he was going to get him kicked out of the park and the guy shut REAL fast. You could hear me cheering on Ses when he said that. This guy was trying to be a "big man" but acted like a baby when Ses called him out!

LOL! That's great PunkBunny! I wish I could have been there. I needed that laugh! We took Chelsea and had a great time just walking around and kinda hanging out in necro. Did anyone see the new clown this past weekend? He had spikes on the back of his head sticking straight out. He scared the heck out of my Gf.

To those of you that make these topics and post only to complain that the lines are so long, stop whining! It's a freaking amusement park, expect crowds. The park does not cater to only SFGAmWorld posters and ACEers, it caters to the general public that goes just a few times a year and is willing to SPEND MONEY. That's how they're able to build the attractions to bring in even more guests with more money. Kahmooza, you hit the nail right on the head: "Obviously the park could care less they see $$$." What kind of business wouldn't want the money? The number one goal of Six Flags right now is to bring in as much money as possible, especially since they are 2.1 to 2.2 billion dollars in debt. Even if it means sacrificing customer service/product quality, what comes above all is the $$$.

Great America isn't the only park that does this. Disney packs their parks to capacity and Cedar Point was packed in October. The parks are going to let in how many people they can hold. You being a poster on this website should know that Fright Fest Saturdays and Sundays aren't the best days to go.
