Topthrill Dragster or KingdaKa?

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby CoastsToCoasters on October 25th, 2005, 9:04 pm
Thanks Twix! I just didnt understand cause I cant pms  I didnt know what I did.

So is my"fantasy" reasonable enough for another park maybe? Seeing that this is our homepark I really wouldnt want it ti go anywhere else.
I went in to see a pattent thingy and its a couple thousand for something of this magnitude!

Yes, I like it. Maybe a few elements, but I love the pre-ride thing.

Thanks again :D
I really didnt just pull this out my....ya know
Ive been drawing/planning this since nov./dec. like I said before. I originally had the two 270 degree twists with an extremeley tall zero-g roll, but I always thought, like we were discussing earlier; that lap bars give more freedom. The inversion would be exciting however, yet it would need OTSR. I have a lap belt and a belt holding in the restraint like V2. Now another original idea I had was for guests to put an actual like seatbelt on after the restraint was closed, giving it that car sense and adding an extra saftey feature.(?) I just love to design rollercoasters cause its your imagination and ideas put on paper. I love thinking of possibilities to expand in the future.

There was a time this season where we (ericgforcejunky and I) waited in line for 4 hours for VU and the guy talked to us about new rumors we thought we heard, well he brought up the facinating idea that we needed a dragster. Of course I thought that would be awsome and great but I learned about all these height restrictions, airport deals, complaints, etc. and saw my idea shot down, just gone. I just hope someday (soon) these will/can get solved......

Having only a seatbelt is a cool idea. Tower of Terror and Body Wars at Disney restrain riders with only a seatbelt. (The seatbelt release button on the latch locks so that riders cannot unbuckle during the ride.)

oh wow! thats unique!
I wanted to have the seatbelt lock into the lap bar, so it would come from the shoulder of the seat to the harness.

Oh, well I can see what twixmix meant....it was just the way you were talking about KK....it appeared you were coming off too whiney. Just remember, this is a website, we cant truly understand "tone" of voice, so some things may sound too complainy(if you know what I mean)

Its just like BINKS and I, we seem to constantly quarrel just from the things written here and theyre pointless arguments. Im sure Binks is a really appreciative and nice guy its just our tone appears so negative. If I complain, Im not talking to the computer in a whiny sort of tone Im just tring to understand like when binks wrote: SHES A DUMB GIRL that angered me alot but I was simply stating thats rude I WAS NOT SAYING THATS SO DAMN RUDE BINKS!!!!! I just couldnt beleive he was serious. So what Im saying is dont just think people such as Twixmix are constantly pmsing or yelling at you, thats not what its always implying...dont overexaggerate or analyze it too much

So now lets remember what topic this is
Well most of you seem to like TOP THRILL DRAGSTER-? I like the way TTD appears more than that airtime hill on KK.

Well, I just saw Kingda Ka on Mega Structures on Nat Geo, and that supposed "airtime" hill...it can't have too much "airtime". You get airtime on a hill coming over the crest and on the way down.....well that part of the hill has brakes....so you can't get airtime if you are slowing down. So I would have to say TTD myself. I personally didn't get a chance to ride it yet as it was closed last weekend, but it just looks more original, and the "airtime" hill on Kingda Ka just doesn't make sense. It looks like something to make the ride "look" original, but in reality, SFGAdv is just a bunch of copycats.
Welcome to ShockWave please pull your harness down as far as it will go. While riding ShockWave please keep your hands and feet inside the car, and your head against the headrest, please hold on to all loose articles, especially hats and glasses. Enjoy your ride!

So if, not saying it ever will....if EVA were a real ride she wouldnt be too original then, is what you mean? If so, I know what you mean. I wouldnt want eva to be a copycat, its just the design is so popular.

Accelerator coasters are the new BATMAN. Theyre demand is very high because the hydraulics give one hell of a kick!

Oh and listen(read  )to this.......I read on screamscape(I know, theyre a rumor site), seeing their title on tallest and fastest was passed so quickly with KK, that cedar point is thinkin' about passing the 500ft. mark and going for the 600ft. mark  and heres where it gets twisted.....B&M are their creators for this giant.
Do any of you find THIS POSSIBLE?...........Thats tall, like really tall. Just a HUGE rumor ans dumb gossip for now but b&m just, eh..... :?

Well I was at Cedar Point this weekend and the guy at the gate (don't know his credibility)said that for 2006 or 2007 the new ride may be a 500-600 ft Hydro Coaster.....only time will tell. The official announcement on CP new ride is supposed to be coming soon.

And Kingda Ka might not have seemed like such a copycat if they had waited longer to build it. It just seemed like they were just trying to beat the record, there was no originality to it. If they had waited a few years and let TTD keep the title for awhile, it would have seemed less like they were just trying to de-throne Dragster, and more like they were just giving the folks in New Jersey one kick a$$ ride.

^ The announcement will more than likely be on Sunday during a live interview from the park.

As for the hydro coaster that tall I highly doubt it. The "boats" would crack in half upon hitting the water.

Huh....hmmm, a hydro coaster? That is so cool  The boats would have to be pretty tough...The ride would mostlikely crash into the water for the finale, not right away. Or what if they do what sheikra has done with the tubes/funnels, so the train isnt actually crashing into the water?

Whatever, if theyre really thinking about a hydro coaster(which is odd) then theyve got it all figured out by now mostlikeley

I dont have one but just think of a water coaster.....um, here go to http://www.rcdb.com and type europa park. Once youve done that, look at the coasters labeled atlantica and poseidon. Those are mack water coasters.

I beleive thats what they mean by HYDRO coaster, someone please correct me if Im wrong. Well anyways these are may favorite water coasters...especially Supersplash Atlantica :D It looks like an awsome ride...I want one

Well I just hope that someday, we can get something really tall. The 600ft. coaster sounds so tall though  whats going to happen in like....2025?......a 1,000ft. tall coaster? Cause if CP wants to go and skip 500 then someone will beat it sooner or later even if its CP themselves, then where do you go from there? Its just weird to think about.

Anyways, it seems to me that most of you have chosen TTD over KK. Which is understandable. This has been an interesting forum with all this talking about CP's plans in the future and having the "battle" between KK and TTD

My vote, like every other time this comes up, is for TTD. Race car sound effects, longer straightaway after the launch, more up time (believe it or not), and the best part: When you get off the ride your standing in the best park in the world!
