Interesting. Not out of the ordinary except that they had to be evacuated. I'm not familiar with this ride but was there no platform alongside the holding point where the train was stopped?

article did say it opened later in the day.

Kinda strange where it stopped though, would think B&M thought of that and would have thought to put an Evac platform there.

That happened in August when I was there one night before closing. It stopped on the Holding point. They finally got it to cycle to the Block where they evac'd the riders..

A rescue trolley traveled up to the top and brought the passengers down safely one row at a time.

Actually, I have been recently informed (when I pointed out that there is no catwalk or stairs on the lift) that when Millennium Force gets stuck on the lift, they can bring the train back down on the elevator lift. But I am with you, if I was on that ride and they made me walk down from the top, I would be freaking out!!!!!! I think I would just pee my pants to be stuck on the lift period, whether or not there was the threat of having to get out and walk down. I like to get that part over with as soon as possible....I am NOT good with heights.

There is a moving platform that moves along a track mounted to the structure. They move the platform underneath the train. Honestly, for Superman, I have never seen it done and it must be rather tricky. Maybe not. If you release the foot restraints first, the rider could be sort of standing but still have their body restrained, then it's just a matter of releasing the rest of the riders body.

I am assuming for Superman there must be a way to manually put the seats back into a sitting position, just the same way that the harnesses and lapbars on coasters can be manually opened for evacuation. Otherwise there is a high risk that a chicken s#it rider like myself...freaking out that they are WAY up in the air and HAVE to get down manually.....shaking screaming, eyes closed.......would fall to their deaths trying to meander that tricky manuver.

those steps on MF are only from the top of the lift to partway down the first drop. The lift itself only has a track for a rolling evac platform and no seperate stairs or catwalks.

You can see in that pic where the evac tralley track ends and the stairs begin.
