Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

I was just at Knott's, oh my god I think that was the most intense water ride I have ever been on. I heard that it uses magnetic braking and does anyone know how much it cost to built?

Im not sure how much it cost, but I can confirm that it does indeed use magnetic brakes. I agree it is an excellent water ride, that first drop is breathtaking, and with that 45 ft. splash how could you hate it?! :D

When any water ride where 100% of the ride models ever built have tossed people to their death, it has to be good! :)

(I liked Hydro better, the airtime isnt as extreme, but the splash is alot smaller due to the local climate, PP's drop is just flat out spectacular though)

How does the boat stay on if it goes straight down?

I believe there are upstops, but dont quote me on that. (as there is track I know for sure at the bottom of the drop to keep the boat lined up for the magnetic brakes, Id assume there is track the whole way down the drop, but I was to blown away after riding to really check) :)

When it first got the new restraints, I was fortunate to ride it. Unfortunately, we got stuck about 3/4's the way up........ It gets cold when there was a wind.... We were stuck for about 40 minutes, they were going to unbuckle us all and bring us down one by one, but then they got it up and running again. It stayed close for the remainder of that day....
Watch out theres a new Hurricane in Gurnee, IL!

I cant imagine it with the 5 point harnesses, I was lucky enough to ride it with just the lapbar, I dont think any other water ride can compare. (Hydro is good also, though the forces are toned down, and it still tossed a rider)

Wow, I wonder what kind of restraints. Considering its built by Intamin, I'm guessing they have there coaster lapbars? Thats an insane first drop. Amazes me how the water dosnt swoosh out of the part of the shoot thats dropping.

the ride is amazing, PP uses inner wheels just like a coaster, theres an extra rail to keep the boat from tossing the poeple into the water below

PP used to have a Lapbar just like their coasters, however after it tossed a rider it got 5 point racing harnesses (and I think still has the lapbar also)

Not sure what Hydro is running with though, I know it did reopen after it also tossed a rider.

^ Yes, Perilous Plunge still has the lapbar along with the 5 point harnesses. The things that suck about those harnesses is that they are mildewy, add on to the wait times, and are very tight on you. The drop is one of the best drops, it takes my breath away everytime.

I agree, that does look like one of the best water rides out there. That drop looks amazing. Dave took some nice pictures of that ride on the drop and splashing down.
