OH, OH, lets talk about sending military men to their death based on
sketchy intel. Hmmmm, didn't Clinton send our elite forces to their
death, when they went into Somolia?? Wasn't that a worthless
battle that ended up killing many men?
Clinton could have ended the Osama Threat! Fir st off. We know that
he did track Osama, but did nothing about it.
MSNBC.com - March 17th, 2004 The tape proves the Clinton administration was aggressively tracking al-Qaida a year before 9/11. But that also raises one enormous question: If the U.S. government had bin Laden and the camps in its sights in real time, why was no action taken against them?
“We were not prepared to take the military action necessary,” said retired Gen. Wayne Downing, who ran counter-terror efforts for the current Bush administration and is now an NBC analyst.
“We should have had strike forces prepared to go in and react to this intelligence, certainly cruise missiles — either air- or sea-launched — very, very accurate, could have gone in and hit those targets,” Downing added.
Even though Clinton Tracked Osama, he did not have our forces
prepared to take him out! But, to you guys, I bet this was Bush's
fault, since everything, both past and present, is Bush's fault. Geez!

I try to stay out, but I must correct you about Somalia.
Clinton never sent those men into battle. They were there with UN forces (UN -Specifically Pakastan and Malasia- wanted the US's help). General Garrison was in charge of that operation in Somalia. He collected intel and he made the decisions there. He had a very limited number of rangers and delta force. The only armor they had was part of the UN.
As soon as clinton recieved word that the raid was botched, he ordered troops out of there as soon as possible. Immeaditly afterwards, Clinton sent a huge show of force to Somalia (M1A1 Abrams, Apaches, AC130 Spectre, as the US pulled out (Congress's demands).
I've researched this battle extensivly, I've Watched the movie, the history channel program, PBS special, Read the Book, and read Michael Durrant's Book about being in captivity.
The entire point of Operation Restor Hope was to try and restore order from the corrupt warlords that were using famin to destroy the country. Bush Send those troops there, Clinton was acually REDUCING the number of troops in Somalia. When the battle occured, there was only 1500 US troops remaining.
In December 1992 as president Bush of the USA was preparing to leave office, he proposed to help under the restriction that the US Combat troops would lead the operation. After the UN accepted this offer 25,000 US troops were deployed to Somalia and the mission was renamed to Operation Restore Hope and became UNOSOM II.
So It was not Clintons fault for that incident. It can technicaly be blamed on Bush for deploying troops there Initally. Clinton wanted to withdraw US troops to be replaced by UN troops.
The CIA, Knew exactly where Bin Laden was during the 1990s. Read the 9/11 Report and you'll see the failures of the Clintion administration in the hunt of Bin Laden.
Not saying that GWB was in the right, but its a fact that in 3 seprate instances CIA opperatives had info on Bin Laden.
"Lest we forget, in 1992 then President George W. H. Bush sought to deploy troops to Somalia with the express purpose of feeding the population of that war-torn nation, whom were in need of international aid; and to protect aid workers in the wake of the collapse of the Somalia national government."
To sum up, Former President Bush sent people in to help feed and
to help a war-torn nation.
"The civilian leadership would not respond for political reasons. The excuse that the then Clinton White House used for not supplying heavy armor units to the members of Delta Force, now tasked with capturing Mogadishu top warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid was, "we did not want to be seen as a occupying force.""
Clinton was totally at fault for the carnage that happened to the
Delta force, because he did not supply them with the neccessary
equipment to keep them safe.

Show me a Democrat that has made the "quality" type of mistakes this president has made at all.
It isn't even about the "quality" of mistakes made. Responsible leaders need to take responsibility for their actions, the good and the bad decisions. Had Clinton put more money into intel, and spent more time on it than porking the intern and the subsequent impeachment trial that followed based on his lie to the American public, he may have found Bin Laden during his term. Lets not forget that the 9/11 hijacking was in planning for YEARS before it happened. How much could Bush have really stopped something like that only 8 months into his term as President. It seems to me that the responsibility for that lies with Clinton as well. But I haven't seen him stand up for that, at least Bush has the guts to tell us that he screwed up in NO.

Clinton had no clue that the battle had taken place until the day after. That was general Garrison's choice to invade then. Clinton's goals were to pull all troops out of the region as they were being replaced by UN forces.
oh
And Bush didn't supply the troops with Armor plating on their humvees.

Well, Bush gave them protection for their mission. Which
was a Humanitarian Mission, not a battle or war. I don't think
that you would send Tanks and the biggest machinery for
a Humanitarian Mission.
Clinton had the mission of capturing the evil leader. Upon
receiving that mission, he should have sent neccessary
equipment, but he didn't.
My main issue, is that poor preparation is all over the board and
does effect every President. Not one president can be proven
that they were always prepared for the bad things that happened.
Responisibility for every bad thing that happens, should not, and
cannot be blamed squarly on the President.
If a Tornado rips through Chicago, it's NOT Bush's fault.
If an earthquake happens in San Fran, it's NOT Bush's fault.
If I have a cold, it's NOT Bush's fault for not preparing me and giving
me aid quick enough to end my cold!
I will state again:
Responisibility for every bad thing that happens, should not, and
cannot be blamed squarly on the President.
