Let's not start the Tumbleweed rumor again, but I agree about SWAT, though I have heard mixed feelings about that ride, some like it, others dislike it.

I wasn't starting a rumor. I was just saying that, Tumbleweed is
what I would call SWAT if it came to Six Flags. It's a perfect name,

I know your just playin', but SFA already has one of those water slides... they got it the same year SFAW got Diablo Falls.

It's sad to see a park close down. After all, it may not have been as incredible of a place as SFGAm, but it still holds alot of memories and nostalgia for its vistitors over the past three decades. Too bad something couldn't be done to save this park.

Well I checked Astroworlds website and it says there closed Sep 24 and 25th because of Huricane Rita! I hope they dont get hit!!

honestly does it really matter if SFAW gets hit or not? Not going to exist one month from now either way. And even damaged rides (though SFAW is pretty far inland), can be repaired and relocated.

Yes, it still matters.

You are talking cost for cleanup and having to deal with insurance to repair what assets you have there. After SFNO, Six Flags really doesn't need this headache.

On top of that, if they take a hard hit from Rita, the season just ended early which means SFAW demised in Sept. instead of Oct. Not that people in that area right now care about an amusement park but the parks permanent closure just got pushed up.

I don't think that there will be damage like we saw in at the New Orleans park. There was extensive flooding there, and Houston is nowhere near the coast. The main threat will be some damaging wind speeds, but I think the majority of the ride structures can resist that kind of thing.

And echoing an earlier comment, the park is done in a month. Whether it gets developed from a ruined park or just a closed one, it doesn't matter.

I don't know...he's been trying to stop the closing pretty much since they've announced it. It's not fair to the stockholders...I don't care either way, I'm not a stockholder.

Here's the real reason he want to stop this. This is making the stock price go up. And the upward climb means that he can't afford the buyout that he wanted.

SFI is looking for a way to raise the stock praise, get themselves out of debt and find some easy money. I wouldn't be surprised if this is not the only land sold off to either real estate or another chain. They are not going to change their mind, too much money in stake here to give it up, also, they can save the rides and send throughout, which is already, probably, in plan for rides to go certain ways.

Cedar Fair knows there is oppertunity as there is no competition now in a city as large as Houston. Unlike SFWOA where the only competition was themselves. If they got the park and resolved the parking situation and they werent afraid to invest, there is definately profit to be had.

Though personally I doubt SF would sell to Cedar Fair, not sure why, but that's just the feeling I get, if only ot save face and not give in to their competitor.
