Well, if I'm one of the "others", then I apologize. I have found the level of respect of some members of these forums to be absolutely horrendous.
Galvan316, we know you are really into history, that's great, but you've now created a three topic political arguement. Congratulations. These are Six Flags Great America forums, not debates. There's nothing wrong with posting some politics in the off-topic forum. But, please, try to also post about Great America rather than just constantly spamming Great America forums with political topics. If you really want a good debate, I suggest you find a good set of political forums. Most of the members on these boards (including me) aren't old enough to drink, let alone vote. We just don't follow politics like you do. It's kind of like going to the book club and putting in a movie. If you want to talk movies, you'll have to find a movie club. But talking to the boards about politics is like talking to a wall about politics. I don't mean that about everybody, but I'd say that out of the 895 registered users, only a very small handful will be able to follow what you're talking about.
I think it's normal for people to talk more about 9/11 on 9/11 than they do anyother day of the year.
Some kids who were in high school in 2001 are too young to remember the OKC bombing, the first WTC bombing, the stand off at Waco, etc. They are learning about it in history class - to them it's not as real. Which isn't a bad thing, it's just the way the world works. In 10 years or so, there will be a whole new group of people who don't remember 9/11 as vividly as some of us do right now. A generation who doesn't really discuss it any more than they have to while studing it in school.
"Where were you on 9/11/01?" is this generations "where were you when JFK died".
For my generation, the 18-30 bracket, 9/11 was one of the worst things we have witnessed. It was a day that so much changed for so many people. Talking about it, thinking about it, remembering all of it, during this time every year allows people do deal with their feelings regarding the situaion without letting it consume their lives.
This is what the off-topic forum is about, these issues wont just go away and have to be reported on, Do you think that im not already on political forums?
You make it sound like it's a crime to not talk politics. On a Six Flags forum?! Are you crazy?! You don't see me posting Six Flags stuff on political forums, why post politics on Six Flags forums?
If a political forum had an off topic forum posing six flags stuff in there would be fine. If you diss-like political topics why do you post in them? If you dotn like it dont post in them! Simple as that.
Why do I post in them? Because I'm posting against them. You have to realize that the difference between political topics and iPod topics is that the political topics are a sure way of, let's face it, bickering. We're at least 13 and there's no room for that. And then Galvan acts like it's a fact of life...we need this bickering. No we don't. Let's all take a reality check, put this bickering aside, and grow up... (referring to the level of disrespect on these boards)
I remember 9/11 as though it just happened today. I was driving
to work, listening to ManCow. I thought it was a joke at first, but
once I got into my office, I turned it onto WGN Radio, and my jaw
dropped.
I wanted to go home, but I stayed and worked. It's still very
fresh in my mind. My thoughts and prayers are with all of those
who lost loved ones in this horrible attack.
If any of you are interested, I did a "9/11 Tribute Video", Dedicated
to all of those who lost their lives on that dreaded day. Please contact
me via AIM and I'd be happy to send it to you.
