Six Flags is profitable 2nd Quarter!

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

Looks like Six Flags turned a profit 2nd quarter. Last year this quarter they weren't profitable.

This is GREAT news for the chain as a whole and even the entire amusement industry as Six Flags is the largest chain. Hopefully this will give Six Flags the break they need to improve customer service and build new attractions to attract even more people to make the chain profitable every year and quarter.

Well, this certainly lends credibility to Great America getting a new attraction next year.. but it's not certain at all. Anything can happen and Six Flags may be happy with Hurricane Harbor at the moment.

Attendence increased 6.6% from last year. lol.. kind of ironic how it's 6.6, six flags... mr. six, etc.. :P

Well, I'm just glad they did so well this year. It can only mean good things for us. :D

SFHH is partly responsible for the increase in attendance. It looks like they are either buying or expanding a Montreal Park (La Ronde) and putting money into attractions for everyone. I would think evry park could receive something. Maybe the bigger parks a little more substantial.

Yeah, and they just received a whole new section, the tallest, fastest coaster in the world.. PLUS they could be getting a whole new resort hotel in 07.

Geez, they really need to calm down with Great Adventure. Great America's increase in attendence was HIGHER than Great Adventure's (by about 6%) also.

So I guess the Chicago market responds much better to capital investments made in Great America than New Jersey does with Great Adventure.

Six Flags also needs to take a long, needed break with Magic Mountain. They just keep adding coaster after coaster. They need to step up their customer service from what I've heard before adding multi-million dollar coasters every single year.

I've heard horror stories about one train ops on all their coasters while the place was really packed to multiple coasters (as many as half) being closed. Before building a new coaster, be sure to maintain the ones you have! Many customers would rather see good customer service than 17 coasters.

SFGAdv sees more people per year than SFGAm, so while they may have a smaller increase, it may end up being more people.

28% of 2,100,000 people annually

vs.

16% of alittle more than 3 million.

not doing the math, though. :)

The size of their park is bigger though isn't it? I've never been there before.

FParker185, my point was that our water park attracted more people to come to the park than Great Adventure's GK expansion and Kingda Ka.
