SF St. Louis 7-30-05

Let us know how your day at the park was.

Yesterday, my friends and I decided to head up to Six Flags St. Louis to release some coastering frustration (what I didn't get a chance to do during my last visit at Great America). Anyway, we made it to the park at around noon and headed for our first ride of the day: Ninja. After a 25 minute wait, we boarded the train (backrow). The ride was intense, but great. Then we headed for the Boss (15 minute wait for the 3rd cart). Unbelievable! That ride was so cool. After the Boss, we headed for Mr. Freeze. The wait was for about 45 minutes due to someone getting hurt either on the ride or while waiting in line. The only thing I know was that the young lady was transported on a stretcher and was wearing a neckbrace. Anyway, the theming for that ride needs major improvement. I wish that they would utilize the same theming concept as the one in Texas (in which you walk into a ice factory with a cold image). The version in St. Louis is all outdoors and hardly any shading to compensate for it. Not to knock the ride itself, the ride was great (2nd cart).

After the Freeze, we headed for Tidal Wave so that we can get soaked (5 minute wait). Then we stopped to get a drink and headed for Screamin Eagle. About a 30 minute wait and we rode the front row (very cool). After the Eagle, we headed for River King Mine Train (2 minute wait), but the only thing is that the ride ops didn't let us choose our own seats. At this point, it was around 3:45pm and we wanted to get one last ride in before we headed back to Memphis. So we stand in line for Batman: The Ride and this was the longest wait of the day (over an hour). When we finally exited the ride, it was around 5:15pm. Then we left the park, stopped at the McDonald's across the street for the park and headed back home (made it back in town around 10:30pm). Overall, the day was cool. A few drawbacks, but still a good day.

One more thing, we would have made it to the park earlier that day (around 11:30am). But thanks to Mapquest and its directions, we made it at noon. They gave us some directions that landed us through some back way where we passed by some woods, a small country town, and a maximum security prison (I kid you not).

I'm confused about the Mr. Freeze thing. Don't you go in an ice cream factory? Granted the theming isn't as great as the previous BTR (at SFGAm), but at least they made the outside of the building look cool to me. Does the Texas one have more of the line in a building?

Did it feel cold in the building? To me, if you don't blast the air conditioning, in my opinion the ride will break down a lot more. When I was there last, it felt warm. And this ride is called Mr. Freeze???

So, what was your favorite coaster over there?

They need at least two more rcs over there.

Saturday was the only day that my friends and I could go. All of us work full time during the week, so the weekend is the only time we can go. Besides, I can't use up all of my vacation time. I'm saving all the time I get to possibly go to Australia next summer.

In terms of Mr. Freeze, the version you are talking about is in Texas (SFOT). The line is inside the Ice Cream Factory. The one in St. Louis is basically all outside, until you enter the building where it immediately leads up to the ride itself (just a short hallway and two sets of stairs). The building was not cold at all, which really didn't give the ride a cold atmosphere.

As far as my favorite ride there, it was definitely the Boss. I wish that we had a chance to ride Xcalibar, but that may happen if we decide to drive up there again during the Labor Day Weekend. We may go to Atlanta instead, but we'll see.

Nice TR LC3!

My favorite ride there is also The Boss! If you head back over Labor Day weekend, make sure to get a ride on it at night!

All I have to say is....DARK.....and....INSANE!
