6/3/05 Busy But Bearable

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby CoasterDude12-2 on June 3rd, 2005, 8:51 pm
Today I went for my 8th grade graduation. We got inside the park and we noticed stargate was closed...as were a LOT of others. We head first to Whizzer and wait 30minutes. Then we go to Demon and have a pleasurable backrow ride. I didn't wan't to do a lot of flats because we were there from 11 to 6:15 which sucked. So I ventured to V2 and rode it twice. Then I went to S:UF and bought a terrible photo...10 bucks down the drain. Also I sprained my leg and stayed a while in the 1st aid. Iron Wolf was next which I haven't done since I was 8, A smoother than I expected ride. I actually PAID someone $5 to go on B:TR and V2 because he's a wimp and I'm a sucker. After the rides he thanks me because I got him on rides he'd never gone on and really enjoyed. I finished the afternoon with Viper, went to Trudy's sweet shop and bought a fantastic MR.Six bar. Then, some security gaurd handed me a completer exit pass for my not so painful injury on Superman. So, ends to a very short day.

Demon-1 ride,Trains Dispatch Great
Whizzer-1 ride, Trains Dispatch okay
Viper-1 ride, trains dispatch VERY slowly
IW-1 ride, trains dispatch excellent
v2-3 rides, Trains dispatch average
B:Tr-1 ride, Trains dispatch better than average
S:UF-1 ride, Trains dispatch okay
LR,Whirligig-1 ride each

No Bull or Eagle Red today

Closed Rides-RR,IMS,DJV,AEB,etc...

Notes,V2 and Viper Desperatley need a grouper
Viper has no Cartman
Park was Busy Today
Hurricane Harbor had people coming and going

Why was it so packed (tons and tons of buses?)? How crowded was HH? What other rides were closed? You say etc. Was the other lot packed?

There weren't as many buses compared to other weekdays. The entire front lot was full, with perhaps a row or two in the overflow lot being occupied.

Some flat rides opened up later in the day, such as Orbit. Even HomeTown Fun Machine was open sometime during the late afternoon. Eagle: Blue was open for perhaps an hour or two, switching from Eagle: Red.

There were more instances of kids behaving badly and line jumping today. People just don't get that because your friends are in line, you can call them on the cell phone to save you a spot. Then there are those who blatantly and casually line jump, as if they are not doing anything wrong.

I ended the night with the last rides of the day on Raging Bull. "One More Time! One More Time!" shouted the teal train. Mid-afternoon (and earlier, too), the Red Train was transferred off the track and the Yellow Train was transferred back onto the Raging Bull track. The day started with Red & Yellow, so the Teal Train had to have replaced the Yellow Train sometime in the early afternoon.

I was hoping for Deja Vu to open, but oh well. The orange letters at Hurricane Harbor's entrance are now painted a teal-ish blue.

I was there from 2-9(talked for awhile after close.)

STT-Walk-on
Iron Wolf-20 minutes
King Chaos-2 cycle wait
Orbit-Walk-on
Scenic Railway-5 minute wait for train
AER-15 minutes(Thanks to a breakdown!! :D Everyone left the line and it quickly re-opened.)
Batman-30 minutes(Ops were slow and my train was stacked for 10 minutes. All the kids on the train were yelling obscene words. )
Demon-10 minutes
Chubasco-walk-on
Raging Bull-2 times for a total of a 25 minute wait.(3rd to last and last ride of the night. Thanks to the crew for a re-ride. It was all because of row 9. )

Park was extremely busy and understaffed. Front lot was full(I parked in the bus lot.) and there were quite a few cars in the backlot.(Not TOO bad though.)

I journeyed into Hurricane Harbor twice and noticed a pretty busy waterpark. The atomic coaster slides had a line to the bottom of the stairs and the speed slides even had a line down one flight of stairs. Only the purple family slide was running with a long line(closed early too) and Wahoo Racers was still only running 4 of the 6 slides.

Skull Island should be ready VERY soon and I wouldn't be surprised if it were up by Monday. Just a little cleaning up to do and then water testing.

Also, a huge shark(VERY similar to USF's Jaws) is now located next to Sharky's Snack Shack(name?). Very nice! I also noticed the VIP party and many park representatives.

Also in the main park, I got people very mad at Roaring Rapids :D and just basically enjoyed my time. There were just TOO many 8th graders(got spit in my face on two different rides. ) And bring a friend for free didn't help at all.

There is now a mime who roams Hometown Sqaure and I saw even MORE characters. Lola Bunny was out along with Marvin Martian and Speedy Gonzalez. The season pass line was Extremely long too.(This seems to be a pattern.) The Madman of Magic will be sharing the Market stage with the Jug-o-jugglers this summer and there will be special performances by music groups in Hurricane Harbor.

DejaVu never opened and also wasn't on the rides closed list.(Which had an open space.) Kinda strange. AEB was running earlier in my visit and AER was closed. This resulted in a line to the entrance and a wait that probably would have been the longest in the park. Don't be fooled by my wait times, I just avoided the lines.

The only way I look at a fairly busy park, is that it is good for the park in the long run! Good day overall!

Chiatrain, was that you who was the second to last person in line? I was the last.

Oh yeah, I saw Nolan after my last ride on Raging Bull. We talked until the parking lot cleared a little and I talked on the cell a bit.(So did Nolan. )

I was there basically all day 10:30-8:00 (i'm very sore now)
Closed things:
Stargate
Homtown station
HTFM(Opened Later)
Orbit (Parts of Day)
Trailblazer
Ricochet(Opened Later)
River Rocker
Chubasco (Opened Later)
DJV
SWF (Opened Later)
Blue and Red Switched off
Loggers Run (Closed one time I passed, opened other)
IMS
BEB
JWR (Opened Later)
Condor- (Condor looks like it's ready to open, so expect it within a week or so.)

Skull Island also looks like it's nearly ready. I spent a couple of Hours at HH and got a lot of good rides. They only opened Half the Lazy River because they were having trouble with the jets that move the water on the other half. People don't notice that WR and HM are open because of all the construction stuff around Skull Island so they had short lines all day. (I got Eight Rides on HM in less then 20 minutes)

Typhoon (The green bowl) got a tube lodged in it and closed the rest of the day.
As far as I could tell Barracuda (The yellow slide on the 6-slide complex) never opened, neither did Paradise punge (The Purple Body Slide)

Things I noticed today:
The wave pool waves every five minutes.
They painted the Hurricane Harbor sign, so the actual words are Blue.
They painted the SWT train Bridge.
Pink Flamingo, Beachcombers, Treasure Chest, and Cool Mama's look like they're ready to open this weekend.
Skull Island was filled with water, they were cleaning off the deck and added more beach chairs, so it may open soon.
Bubba Tubba (The Blue and Green family slide) never opened today, but Bahama Mama was open all day except for the last Half-hour or so of Operation.
The lifeguards are really nice, they seem to be enjoying what they do.
Meanwhile the ride-ops are slowly getting board. They were so nice the first couple of days, and now it's just "Fasten your seatbelt...welcome back" You can practically see them slowly getting board.

The park was very understaffed today, as noted by the abundance of closed rides. They really need to get with the hiring!

Have good day!
