Getting Your Friends into Riding Coasters

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby Loopsandcorkscrews45 on May 27th, 2005, 10:02 pm
i have the problem where i will say i am going on the batman i am going on it i am going on it all the way to the park (takes an hour and a half from where i live). Then once we get into the park, i have this broblem in my throught where it feel really weird and i need something to drink or i gag. so i cant really go on the rides without puking and the reason of the gaging is becuase of nerves i hate neveres. oh yeah i have only been on the demon and the whizzer. i really want to go on the batman!!!! just the thought problem. I really want to go on the other rides i am just to scared. see what ummmm like 2 years ago. i was like ten and i was standing in the line for the american eagle. not going on it just everyone i was with wanted to go on it so i just wated in line and steped over the carts unless you dont step over them..... i dont know.... well anyway i was standing in the line and i was like hey guys guess wut... i am going on the demon. and then everone is like yeah right ur just saying that and im like fine dont belive me... then once they got off that we went over to the demon and i got in the line (there wasnt really a line, we had to wait for less than a minute) then everyone was like sweet ur going on it. I ended up gettin on and now i wont go on rides anymore becuase of the feelin in my stomach on the drops i hate them sooo much. i also dont like the feeling of being forced on a ride. :( it just makes me mad at the person that is doing it. I hate when someone talks you into going on something and then at the end of the day when ther is like 5 minutes left before closing... then u finaly go on it... and then u love it sooo much and you want to go on it more but the park is closed so u cant. or when they talk you onto it and finaly you say yes and then if makes you sick or for some reason you just dont like it.... i was wondering if anyone else has the droping in their stomach and if it hurts and if so what rides can you go on that dont drop your stomach out. I really want to go on Deja Vu i just dont want my stomach to drop out

The dropping of the stomach is quite minor. By the way, try to break up a post of that size with paragraphs next time. :)

I get feelings like that in my stomach a lot. I used to get it worse back when I was 10-11 years old, because back then I was really nervous about riding coasters even though I loved them. Like in the car on the way there I'd get these awful nervous pains in my stomach, I don't get them anymore because I never have any fears of going on a ride (besides Dare Devil Dive lol).

The only coaster my boyfriend didn't go on that day was V2, the looks of it really freaked him out. He liked most of the coasters. His favorites were Whizzer and Demon, lol. It was fun trying to get him on the rides, esecially Vu.

I don't get that feeling much anymore except on Giant Drop which is one of the reasons I like Giant Drop so much.

Anyways, I was told by people here (I hadn't ridden a roller coaster until my Sophomore year of highschool) that the best way to get into them is tackle the scariest one first.

I didn't do this, but my brother did (Raging Bull). I rode American Eagle first and Raging Bull last. I must say, Tom Crean - Traitor dragged me on Raging Bull my first time and I went white knucked all the way. Now I live for that ride (not as much as V2).

So I would say, get them to get on the bad ones first, and if worse comes to worse shove them into the seat and press down their restrains ( ).

I gave myself stomach ulcers with 15 Iron Wolf Rides followed by 6 eagle red rides and 3 blue rides. Now whenever I go on a rough coaster I get stomach pains. Not a big medical problem, usually goes away after I down a coke.

Ummm, that was uncalled for. If rollercoasters are your thing, you should go on them. You only live once. Imagine if you couldn't go to SFGAm because your doctor told you so.

....I probably wouldn't go, find something that is fun to do yet won't kill me, then totally forget about coasters and move on with my life.

Actually, I was being sarcastic. And I know you only live once, but I'd rather live to be 80 without coasters than die at 28 (or whatever age) because I rode them when I wasn't supposed to.

OK...this may or may not be the right forum for this...I have been trying for the past 2-3 weeks to get my sister to go to SF GA. She's NEVER been on a roller coaster in her life. She and my brother are both afraid of heights (AND both race motocross, go figure), so she is trying to get up the courage to go out to G A. I thought I had her talked into it, but she backed out...AGAIN....I mean, she is 25! I know there are people with worse fears than that at this age, but I am trying to figure out a way to help her get over it. Everyone at work is telling her to go on Raging Bull for the 1st ride...I agree, if she can handle that, she can handle all of them. I've even used my health issues with her, i. e., "With everything that's wrong with my head, don't you think I was more scared than you are?" If my head gets banged around right, I'm more than likely screwed or at the least have a really bad headache. It's already happened once on Demon and once on Shock Wave (2 different days). I just want her to overcome this. I know she wants to, but doesn't know how to get over the fear. Does anyone have any ideas. Sorry if this is the wrong place for this.

i dont recomend raging bull as a first ride...

when i went to GA for the first time i went on viper and it totally freaked me out and i hated coasters after that...but then within the hour i went on demon and batman and those 2 coasters made me love coasters so much...

demon is the perfect first coaster...

if shes scared of heights why put her on a 214ft tall coaster with a drop that high...

start small

Actually Raging Bull can be a good roller coaster to start off with. Twice I've (along with the help of others) have forced a friend on Raging Bull and then after that they wanted to ride everything else. And get a few more rides on Raging Bull.

A... dude it's Whizzer.

What I did is I got my brother to go on Giant Drop first because it's the tallest ride there then I got him to go on all the coasters except Iron Wolf.

Don't forget loops also. You're right though, Deja Vu kind of bottles up every possible fear on a roller coaster.

Don't forget on the rougher side. Least its better than Arrow...

I've never had to talk anybody into a coaster, but I did have to talk my friend into a top spin once, he threw up afterwards.

My boyfriend is kind of turning into a coaster enthusiast. The other day he put his hands up on all the roller coasters for the first time.

Now... I just gotta get my parents on the rides.
