5/28 - Hurricane Harbor opening day

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Danhockey04 on May 28th, 2005, 6:11 pm
Weather: about 68 degrees and cloudy with a few rain showers
Crowds: SFGAm - Heavy; SFHH - Light
Rides Closed: Condor, ??? (I don't know, didnt look)

I get to the park at 8:45 and the driveway to get into the park is back up already. I get over to the early season pass entrance and am the first one there.

They let us in at 9:25 and we get over to the SWT bridge, where the train crosses over the bridge. We wait there until 10:00. At 10:00, we walk about 10 feet to watch the opening day ceremony, which was really interesting, Zach taped it all.

After the ceremony, we went for a quick Viper ride, then went to wait in line for HH to open. We waited until 11:00. They were playing games and doing the wave while waiting for it to open. At 11:00, they had a count down, then they let us into the waterpark.

We went straight to lockers, which costs $10, they are rather big, it fit all five of our stuff.
-Me and Jeff went right to the green atomic bowl slide, which is the better of the two.
-We rode both of the speed slides, the blue one is better.
-We went on the other atomic slides, which the gold one is better.
-Jumped into the wave pool for a few cycles, which the waves are actually good.
-We waited for the family slides to open, which never did while I was there.
-Then we went over to Wahoo Racers because it was not open with the park, and saw people going down it. Those slides are simply amazing. I am 3-0, havent lost yet. :)
-We went to Hurricane Mountain, which were very good tube slides, the dark blue one is the best, in my opinion.

I had to leave after all of this fun because of work. A few notes, Skull Island was not filled with water yet, so it was not open. None of the food stands were open while I was there. There were only double tubes for the tube slides, but you can ride single in them.

Water tempertaures, in case you wanna know:
Wave pool: Warmest in the park
Atomic Slide complex: Between warm and cold
Castaway Creek: Same as Atomic Slide complex
Hurricane Mountain: Cold
Wahoo Racers: Cold

On my way out of the park, I had to get a slice of pizza from Firehouse, after that, I left.

Overall, it was a great day.

Is hurricane mountain or whatever the slide complex closest to bull a body slide complex or a raft complex? Im confosed because I allways thought they were body slides.

Oh and by the way. I saw some kid in a sfgamworld teeshirt when I was walking over to wahoo racers. I was near skull island.

They also had that dj or whatever in the sand, and I came third in a hoolahoop contest but I lost because they told us to hoola hoop with our right foot in the air n i couldnt do it and I was laughing so hard I screwed myself up.

Hurricane Mountain is the one over by Wahoo Racers. It is the complex closest to AE, that has 4 tube slides on it.

The Funnel cake/Pretzel stand opened after 1 o'clock.

I rode a few of the slides. the green bowl slide was my favorite of the day. the Wahoo Racers will be a lot more fun once the water is warmer. The kid I raced down biffed it at the bottom. I was able to glide it all the way to the life guard. Castaway creek is nice, I will d be spending a lot of time in there this summer. I was impressed by the number of lifeguards. Everywhere you looked they where there.

I have uploaded photos from today click my WWW link.

Nice TR and great photos, Dmrbug. I'm hoping to make it to HH mid-week. I'm looking forward to fun on the Wahoo races, too. Was Mr. Six at HH or the park as stated previously?

Thanks for the photos drmbug.

Why did they replace the america flag with a HH flag? Are they just doing that for opening wekkend or will it stay like that all the time? Other then that everything looks nice.
One more thing, what is this weir dlooking thing at bottom of picture?http://community.webshots.com/photo/355320931/355324110GupGaW

well it sounds like i'll have something to look forward to tomorrow and tuesday, if i choose to go. I'm looking forward to HH and wanted to go today so badly. I had graduation though, and i think getting out of high school forever is a bit better than HH right now.

Here's my park totals for today.(Hung out with Eric(sixflagsguy5), Zach(mforce4ever), Nolan(sfgam shockwave), btpcheater, and Dan throughout the day.)

S:UF-1(10 minutes with Fastlane)
King Chaos-1 (1 cycle wait)
Batman- 4(All walk-on)
Iron Wolf- 1(5 minutes)
Revy- 1(1 cycle wait)
AER- 1(walk-on)
Raging Bull- 3 (10-20 minutes)
Demon- 1 (Walk-on)
DejaVu-3(10 minutes for total of 3. Got 2nd to last and last rides of the night and then "One more time."
Viper-3(walk-on)

I think that's all.

IMS and Condor were on the rides closed list. Giant Drop opened late. All 6 new SWT area games are now open.

Some of the backlot was being filled.

Batman was walk-on by 5pm.

-HH-
We were there from 11-3:15

I rode basically everything at least twice. The green family tube slide was open just a little bit throughout the day. The purple one was open for less than 20 minutes(I didn't get to ride this.)

Skull Island just has a few things left to do, then it should be ready. (Maybe by next Saturday or even earlier?)

Saw someone with a Islands of Adventure shirt taking pics? Anyone here? BTW, Eric was wearing a sfgamworld shirt. It was most definately him.

The park wasn't busy by any means. The highest amount of people in there at one point was 981.(Or so I was told.)

I'll add more things as I think of them. It is late. It was a great day and the park really took the capacity well.(Theme and Water)

Hmm, seems like the waterpark is lightening up park capacity a little bit?
