Is that true? If it is, I would've liked to see it.

The park should be open year around, We haven't gotten much snow this year and global warming is heating IL up. The park should take full advanage of it.
Watch out theres a new Hurricane in Gurnee, IL!

Is the park gonna open on Christmas with all the rides operating? Never happen! Years back I had pointless fantasies about the park being open on Christmas with all the rides in function, section soundtracks included. I just decided to share with you one of my silliest thoughts of the past.

The park wouldn't open at this time of year with the rides in operation because of it being too cold for the rides to operate. Then again, as for the park being open just to walk through it -- I think that wouldn't be a bad idea. Most of the rides and pavilions would need to be drenched in Christmas lights and deco. Ice fishermen could stand on top of the frozen ponds in Yankee Harbor and County Fair, near Deja Vu. A nativity scene could sit in the place of the nefarious pumpkin at the entrance. And the picnic grove could be transformed into a winter wonderland with fake snow and a style similar to the Cuneo display.

Then again, I don't know how much attendance it would bring up.

Why would the park be open for a walkthrough on Christmas? No one would go because it is Christmas and then the park would have to spend thousands of pointless dollars to decorate the park when no one would show up.

I doubt they will ever do it. Some sf parks do (sfot is 1 example) and I don't think they make much from it, even though they are in a warmer setting. You don't even see them open year round!

Why would the park be open for a walkthrough on Christmas? No one would go because it is Christmas

It's not just a one day thing. I believe they did it on weekends starting early December and are now finishing after New Years Day.

in my opinion, if I wanted to view lights, I'll jump in my car and go touring through subdivisions looking at lights.

Exactly! That's what I do. I often tour the subdivision behind me to look at the Christmas lights. The residents there do a fine job at the deco. Then every Christmas Eve or Christmas Day Eve I go up to Kenosha with my sisters to drive through a neighborhood east of Rte. 31 to tour that neighborhood. One of the streets, 68th to be exact, becomes known as Christmas Lane during the season.

Then again, we have Cuneo and Zion drive-throughs for a dazzling display. We tried to enter Zion this past Christmas Day, but they were closed. So that would be if Six Flags had a Christmas display; they would open on weekends (and weekdays when school gets out), but they would close on Christmas Day.

Now that you got me in the mood, the Hometown train station could host a New Years Eve party. What's your opinion on that?

By the way, the 'tree' on top of Sky Trek Tower was multi-colored prior to September 11th. Then it was transformed to the red/white/blue. I enjoy how you can see it ten miles away.

I noticed that they did not have the normal sized tree on the American Eagle helix this year. I remember seeing last year's tree down in the middle of the helix at the beginning of last season.
