I couldnt think of a better way to celebrate my "holiday" then to go to Great America for its last operating day of the season.
I left Joliet at 8:00 am and picked up Dave in Oak Lawn and proceeded to head North on 294 to Gurnee. We arrived at about 9:25 am to a uncrowded parking lot.
We waited under the Hometown Square Railroad Bridge, expecting to see Deja running, but at about 9:55 we decided to head to Raging Bull first, Having been to the park and waiting 1 hr on Saturday, we headed right for RB first, to basically a walk-on. While waiting for RB the first time, we saw what appeared to be members of the forum, but i had no idea who the hell the where. after 3 rides back-to-back we headed then to Viper, which was a small wait of about 10 minutes. Following Viper we headed back to County Fair and rode Demon, still expecting to see Deja we where still short.
So then it was off to Eagle Blue... during the climb up Blue's lift, we wsaw that Deja was testing, so Dave and I ran to Deja Vu. After about a 40 minute wait we rode Deja Vu, which Dave accurately predicted to open at exactly 12 noon, and it did.
Next was a Lunch Break, and following the break, we headed to American Eagle Red and then on too Iron Wolf which was a decent ride as always.
Next was a walk through Necroplis and finally a ride on King Choas.
Following KC we headed to Ragin Cajun and then too Whizzer which was around the time we decided that this day, would be a day we'd get on all the coasters. Following Whizzer, we headed over to watch the Trolls perform a show called "The Sacrifice" in which they beat to "death" stuffed animals including an over stuffed duck, in which the trolls used a chainsaw which kept on getting clogged with the stuffed animals fluff.
Dave met up with some his friends for a spin on Terror Twister, i headed with another one of Dave's friends for my forth trip on Raging Bull, meeting back up with Dave, we headed straight for American Eagle Red,and then over to Spacely's for a ride on that. Leaving BTR,S:UF and V2 the only rides we needed to finish all the coasters in the park.
Noticing B:TR's,V2's and S:UF's long line, we headed back to County Fair and noticed that Deja Vu's line was pretty short, so we rode tha once again after about 40 minutes an a short 10 minute downtime, we where off to B:TR this was about 6:25 pm and it was running close to the parks closing. We still wanted to hit the remaining coasters so following B:TR it was off to V2.
Being finally able to ride V2 means alot to me, some people may think the ride sucks (like Dave & Tom) but i honestly really like V2, anyway we rode V2 and then it was off to Superman for the 13th coaster of the day.
The time was now about 7pm with one more hour left in our season, so i quickly headed to the Store near Columbia so i could by a t-shirt, and then it was off for my 5th ride on Raging Bull and the last of 2004.
The gready person I am, wanted to Ride Viper & Bull before we ended the night at Deja Vu, but we settled for just RB instead.
After RB, it was off to Deja Vu for our final ride on 2004. We waited for 40 minutes and while in line a member of this forum assaulted me and grabbed my leg which put me in an angered and violated feeling, one that will be with me for a long time. Also in line I joked with some younger kids about Deja Vu and had a great time making fun of this forums member who assaulted me.
We finally rode Deja Vu after 40 minutes, and where treated to a Bouns re-ride because there where about 6 people left in the station and Dave and I where treated to a bonus re-ride on Deja Vu to end our season.
all in all a great way to end our 2004 season and look toward our major 2005 trip in which we will cover 10 parks, 7 states and 96 roller coasters!
