Fright Fest- 10/30

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby SFGA 11 on October 31st, 2004, 12:12 am
Wow, it was crowded today. Arrived at 3:30 and only stayed for a couple hours. I was with my little cousin so we didnt do any coasters besides Spacelys, and did some flats.

The lines were insane: B:TR-3rd entrance, IW-Full queue flowing out to midway, RB-same thing, and thats how it was for pretty much every ride. JWR, Ragin' Cajun, Deja Vu, and water rides were the rides closed. And for most of the day S: UF was stuck on the lift.

Now the day: first thing we did was just walking around looking for any thing with a short line, so we went on Spacelys (my first ride on it), nothing much to say about it, but my cousin had fun.

Then we went in Necropolis. Alot of the characters were out and I took a bunch of pictures in there.

Now it was time to play some games, so we went over to County Fair and played some games and won some prizes. Then we watched my cousin do the Turbo Bungy, it was hillarious watching him because he didnt know how to do it right.

The lines at this time were getting even bigger. So, after circling the park we went on Big Easy Balloons and then circled the park again and went on the Carousel to the end the day.

Overall it was an ok day. Only got on 2 rides because of the lines and my cousing being with us, but it was till fun. The characters were great today, and we spent alot of time watching them. We saw one guy get kicked out for pushing the clown with the knives. We also saw in one of the back stage/employee areas two guys getting taken away by a couple security officers, dont know what it was about though.

Superman spent the entire day on the lift. I was there from 8:40 until 11:15 and did not see it move at all. What I think happened is they started testing it when it was too windy (why I don't know) and realized their mistake when it was halfway up the lift. That's my guess based on the fact that it had the weather sign.

Well you are going to have extremely long lines when 5 out of 12 roller coasters are closed on one day. When I was there, Ragin Cajun, Deja Vu, Spacely's Sprocket Rockets, Superman, and Demon were all closed. Demon and Spacely's opened up later in the day, but there really was poor park capacity yesterday.

Park was very busy, specially with some of the coasters being closed. Almost all day long, every coaster had its lines spilling into the midway, At one point I seen Raging Bulls like get almost to Vipers entrance.

One thing I did find funny, was at 10:20 or so we got in line for Giant Drop, it was only running 3 or 4 sides at that time, which I thought was dumb being the line was long as can be - Come 10:55, they opened up all 6 cars, I find it dumb to wait until the park is closing to open up all the cars, I know they want to get people out of there come 11pm, but they should have had it open to full capacity the whole time not just before the park closes.

I do believe though, that the ones that were closed were facing into the wind... it probably slws down the ride, makes for a poorer guest experience in the wind.

It was really crowded on Saturday. Half the rides were closed so that didn't help. It was an overall ok day.

I agree... I drove 3 1/2 hours to be there for my All Hallows Eve birthday and was bummed that 5 rides were closed and there werent running half the ridfes to maximum capacity. I was WAY bummed that Ragin' Cajun was closed b/c I've made the trip up to Gurnee 4 times now and EVERYTIME it's been closed. The only good part of the day was that I managed to get onto V2 when the park opened and just had a 3 train wait and my boyfriend proposed to me so that made my trip (OF COURSE!!!) but if it hadn't been for that it would not have been the best park visit I'd ever had. :D
"OMG... did I just get laid?" (my first words after the first time I rode V2)
