Actually, I would just walk away. It is not to difficult. There are things you can do to can either escalliate the situation or bring it down.
Just a flat out guess on my end, but you did not want to look like a fool and do the smart thing and walk away, insteed you kept on pushing her buttons. Thus making things worse. I think six flags would rather have you off of the set for a few minutes than to have the situation play out like it did.

Obviously you have not been in our position. You are right, the best thing to do is to walk away and not escalate the situation. Sometimes that cannot be helped. Sometimes you get hit and you need to take care of the situation. We do not ask them to hit us. If they cannot take characters looking at them, chasing them, saying something to them or in some cases not paying attention to them at all, then leave, go home, don't go to Fright Fest cause it is not for you.
Now I can see some 12 year old (and those with the mentality of a 12 year old) coming up and thinking they are tough and wanting to prove a point to their little girl friends but the ones that I have been hit by have been adults (and some 12 year olds). 20 somethings. And even a father of three teen daughters because one of them was crying because she was scared. Hmm.... I guess we were doing what we were hired to do. Can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen.
If I or any one of my collegues gets hit, I will do what it takes to find the person that did it, then get security, and I am not nice about it, I want them out. The whole point is, don't even attempt it. Don't even pretend to want to hit one. NightShade did not ask to be hit. But he did and he wanted the person out. I don't blame him. You put on the makeup and deal with the public at the park and let me know what you think when it's all over.
The proper way to do it is to leave the situation and find security but if I am getting beat up, I am first going to defend myself then they are going to be BROUGHT to security.
Most of the people that go through 6 flags enjoy the characters, I can see it in their faces. Especially when we scare them. It's just those few that want to act like the hero and spoil it for the rest.
You knw, a few years back when I was coming to the park as a patron, I would have never, ever thought of harrasing or hitting a character. I can't understand what goes through the minds of the idiots that do.
if nightshade walked away he would have done the one thing you are NOT suposed to do... turn your back to a potentaly dangerous person. if you where there on saterday working maby you would understand that there are people crowding all aroun you. i know for fact that the other twin was also trying to avoid a situation by telling someone that they cannot touch the chactors now if nightshade just walked awayfrom someone pushing and shoving him who do you thing that girl would go to? the next chactor she sees. plus everyone needs to be out there to protect each other when it gets crazy like that. if pushing someones buttons is telling them to not touch the chactors then they should not be in the park! Going back to my prevous statment, it is deffentaly good that nightshade got that girl kicked out because she most lickly would have started up more b.s. with other chactors, he was doing the rest of us a favor and also protecting the rest of us. so by u saying that nightshade was "pushing her buttons not to look like a fool" you are insulting all of us.
Exactally! I don't know of anyone that would just walk away from that situation! It's easy to SAY that you would but it just wouldn't happen. It's a funny thing because when I was watching the guy that was messing w/ the clown talk to security all he kept talking about was how the clown grabbed his coat and took him to security. Whine, moan, poor me. I was gonna ask him how he liked what he was dishing out but I decided to stay out of it. The girl was taunting him by her comments "they won't do anything because I am on my way out" he just made sure that they would indeed do something about it. Just like what should happen.. kick their butt out! Also you say that nightshade did not do the smart thing by walking away and he kept pushing her buttons. from what was said he warned her numerous times and SHE kept pushing HIS buttons. So who is the unsmart one now? Geeze how hard is it to understand that if you touch them they will or should be able to treat you the exact same. In my opinion he took it easy on her. Espically if she slapped him in the face!
Ok, so my next question then is when does a guest know that you are out of character? By following them or grabbing them by the arm while in a coustume are you not still putting on a show for the people watching?
I am not going to argue that what the guest did. It was wrong. No one should do that to a character, a ride op or a security guard. But in agreeing with Chitown 2 wrongs do not make a right.
I'm am sure that in your "Training" they never said that if you are touched, poked or peed on. Grab the person by the arm and take them to security. Where was your supervisor? They were all over the place when I was there. They are the ones who need to do this not you. A person in some sort of uniform that the public can ID. If I poked Buggs Bunny and he grabbed my arm and took me to security I would be laughfing the whole way. Being in costume the general person does not know when the show ends.
No but being in costume and repeativly asking for the person to stop does. Nice example of Bugs Bunny too. You would be laughing the whole way huh? Because you poked him once.. she did this numerous times before he grabbed her arm. Same with the clown.. he asked the guest to stop touching him 3 times!! 3 times!! There is a difference between poking Bugs Bunny once and continuing to harass a charcter.

Yup you are almost right. I am in the public spotlight almost every day dealing with upset people.I have gone through real training on how to deal with people and how to verbally control them. I do my job 275 days a year and you do this job 12. It is not a part of my job to scare, make fun of, intimidate or be a jackass to people. Then again if I do thoes things someone is bound to get mad and we could start fighting so I know when to stop. I guess it just comes with the job and knowing what you are doing.
Coastercop you are a real piece of work you know.. I also work with the general public everyday also but you know what no one has ever hit me, slapped me, spit on me. If they did I would probably react the same way! Where you there Saturday night? Yes or no? I was and I almost got injured by these same people! It was crazy and people were out of control. I saw all of the charcters having to stay off to the side just to be away from these people. That's just not right. To sit there and say that the charcters are being jackasses is just total BS! You go to Fright Fest for what then?? To have fluffy little bunny rabbits come up and give you eskimo kisses (I have no clue where I pulled that one from)
Even in the origional story after she "slaped his lag once" He got off the fence went after her and started "Yelling" at her. Did that prevoke her to do more? If he would of just told one of the uniform employees insted of going after her to yell at her this could of all been avoided.

Restraining people is not the way to go, but if the problem continues you should talk to your supervisor about getting some way to be able to call security maybe like a panic button.
Or why Bugs Bunny always has a crew around him to take care of this kind of stuff. Nightshade said that he 1st looked for security or a JPM lead but there was none around.. not like he just grabbed her and dragged her over to security. All of the Looney Toon charcters are always surrounded by workers so lets see someone just try to pull this on them. These are 2 different situations.
Coastercop.. she slapped his leg and told him to do something. Yeah he yelled.. didn't touch.. and she did it AGAIN.

Obviously someone were not far enough off to the side otherwise they would not of gotten slapped in the leg.

Ok, let's look at the story one more time. The girl that harassed
Nightshade went out of her way and went to him first, so she prevoked
him to come off of the fence, and she continued to go after him. She
slaped him and said "Get up and do your job." Nightshade was doing
his job. So she is 100% at fault for this. You have to remember that
she prevoked him and was breaking the rules. Nightshade was just
enforcing the rules and defending himself.
Second you say that he needed to get one of the uniform employees.
Well, where were they? They were not there. There should have been
more security during that time. If there was more security during that
time, this whole problem would have been avoided as they would have
taken care of it, right then and there.
As I stated before in this topic, if Security isn't around to do their job,
someone has to! Characters have the right to defend themselves no
matter what. When your harassed by a person, over and over again
there is a breaking point!

If night shade did nothing about that girl she would of continued to harasse him, and they she would of gone and did the same thing to a different chracture. He did the right thing by draging her to security, if you ask me. You cant jus let people get of scott free. She broke the law and she deserved to be kicked out of the park.

How about you don't tell a mod not to do his job, and it bothers me that you can even hit the shift key.

When I go to frightfest I go for rides.
Oh come on! That doesn't, in no way, say that it was ok to slap
Nightshade! Come on.

Yes onces again she is at total fault. Im just pointing out how all of this could of been avoided. The part of the story that I like best is when he says "I dont remember what I said to her" Come on it only happend 2 day ago. Maybe that is why he did not press charges?
Oh and just a side note. Defending your self by grabbing someones arm after you are poked or pushed is not self defense. Slapping someone after they grab you by the arm and are pulling you in a direction you want to go, by soneme with no authourty is.
Just think about it for a second. How hard does someone have to slap you on a leg with pants on for it to hurt. She would of had to have a running start from Iron Wolf. And he did say slap and not punch. He should not of been tounched but he already stated he was upset that they were on level 2.
Ok this is defnitley my last post on this topic.. obviously we all think differently as to what should have been done and how it should have been handled. This is what happened... she slapped him.. he said something to her.. she poked him.. he said something to her.. she poked him again.. he said something to her.. she slapped him. See a pattern here? Does it really matter what he said to her after all of that? I agree that nightshade did the right thing. 2nd of all does it matter if it hurt him or not? NO! She had no right to slap him in the 1st place. It doesn't matter how hard.
"Obviously someone were not far enough off to the side otherwise they would not of gotten slapped in the leg. " So what are you saying with that comment? That there should not have been any charcters out? Point being the charcters at FF SHOULD be able to wander the midways like they are supposed to. They should not have to sit off to the side because a bunch of idiots do not know how to behave in public. He was sitting on the fence which is where I saw him when I met him (by the way did this happen before or after I saw you?) and that was off to the side. So she had to go out of her way to approach him to be a B!@$# and she got what she deserves which is kicked out.
Yup I think I am done too. I just wanted to point out some things that were not right on both ends. I just get sick of reading these "stories" that people put on here to bring attention onto themselves for an oh poor me feeling. Hope you all have fun this weekend
