Some of you may think this is a stupid question but I don't care.
Could the LIMs on V2 ever not get enough power and go slower than usual and not completly make it up the tower the way its suppost to? Just wondering. If so, has it ever happened.

im pretty sure it could .... but i think that the LIM's are programmed to give out enough power to reach a certain speed from the computer system(s).........
Oh, no. The LIMs will never fail. A complicated magnetic system could never fail, especially when a roller coaster is traveling through them at 70 mph. Think before you post.

Are they gunna work and be on-target 100% of the time? No. Is there a tiny percentage that they could? Yes. Coasters are machines, they don't aways work. But fortunatley the desingers can make it so it's reliable 90% or so of the time.

Nothing is ever 100% fail safe including Giant Drop's brakes are included in this. Yes, they are perminant magnents that wont lose their charge but that might not be the weak point. Think of the bolts holding the brakes to the tower or the fins to the car. Those bolts can fail at any time and the car wont stop.

I was specifying towards the actual brakes, and not the bolts that hold them. If the brakes are in the right position and have tight bolts, then yes, the brakes can't fail. Happy now?

Yes, you were refering to the acual brakes but you have to think that that brake is only as good as it's weakest point and that could be a weakend bolt. The magnets themselves will never die out but that might not be the problem.
And Coasterdude12, with today's technology I don't believe there is such a thing as a 'fail safe' computer. Computers can always crash, they rely on a steady power supply, and can overheat/physically break..etc. V2's computers are probably pretty reliable but anything can happen.
As for the original question, I was talking to Kyle about this a bit back and yes, the ride can provide improper power to the LIMs and the ride will launch weird. The ride can even launch backwards out of the station. All this would require a pretty serious electrical/computer failure as the ride has a lot of checks and automatic safety features.
The same type of thing can happen to Raging Bull. The trim break on the 3rd camel back can lock shut so it slows the train enough to valley it there, but that also depends on a serious malfunction.
One time I was on V2 with some friends. The train launched, then rolled out of the station about 10 feet and stopped. I don't know if the LIMs failed, but they just pulled us back, reset the system, and we had our ride. Food for thought. V2 Rules!
I know that the train has been over launched and hit the bumper at the top of the track, I know this because I have seen it, the ride went into an automatic E-stop.

I'm not positive, but I know this summer that same trim brake was much to high and they wouldn't open Bull because of it. It was just barely getting over the next hill after the Camelback.

^Why are you even asking that question? They are going to leave the people in their seats while they disassemble the train, so they can finish their ride they waited precious minutes for. You can't be serious.
