SfGam 10/11/04 I see stars...

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby DejaVu The Ride on October 11th, 2004, 11:00 pm
Fright Fest(Columbus Day) I see stars...(Literally and Non-Literally)

Day: Monday October 11, 2004
Weather: Very nice and sunny with a light breeze.
Crowds: Not totally bad and the backlot was not used, but there were more people than I expected to be there.
Rides closed: Condor, Ice Mountain Splash, Logger's Run, Splashwater Falls, Sky Trek Tower, and Trailblazer.
Time in park:11am-6:45pm

So expecting to leave at 8 am and finding that my sister wasn't going to leave until 9am was depressing. Well I guess I lived and we eventually left at about 9:20 with my friend. In the car, my cell phone died so I had no contact with SixFlagsGuy5, who I was going to meet up with at the park. That sucked. :x We got to the park at about 10:30 and noticed we would be waiting a little bit to get a ticket for my friend. After 30 minutes(11 ticket booths were open) we got into the park and noticed the Demon Revue was going. It was a little lame but the song was like a remix to the Demon theme.

Superman's line was a little long so we ventured over to Batman where the line was a straight away to the entrance and a 20 minute wait for Front row. This is where I first encountered staffing issues. They only had 3 ops and 2 of them were obviously not regular ops.(1 was a maintenance worker.) The ride was great as usual and we next headed over to V2. The line was pretty decent and we waited 25 minutes for the front row. It was kind of funny because the ride ops were trading candy right in front of us and I said trick or treat and she gave me a glare. Well the ride was also very fun as usual. There were also only 3 ops running the ride.

Now Necropolis was open, so we wanted to journey through. I swear that the scariest thing in there is when the fog machine turned on. There were no monsters to be seen at all! :x I guess that's what you get for going on a Monday. It must be cool at night when all the monsters are there.

When we exited we headed over to King Chaos where it seemed they were running a neat program. We waited about 8 minutes and we were harnessed in. Again, there was a mechanic acting as a ride op. We got 5 flips on our ride and then the rest was pretty much the norm where it slowly drops you over the little pond. It was the best King Chaos ride I have ever had!

Next we went over to Iron Werewolf where we were greeted with a very short 3 minute wait(With the line going down the stairs!) and this is where I saws *'s first. Iron Werewolf was not stacking at all! The crew was down right the best crew I have ever seen run the ride. We got a back seat ride and before the awesome and fast ride(Which a part runs through fog) I asked the op why they were so fast and he said because he doesn't like all the stacking and stuff. They were awesome! FYI: Fiddler's Flung was closed for mechanical issues at this time.

Next we went over to the Scobby Doo mystery train where the station is sort of configured as a queue line. Jebediah Graves was cool and entertaininf while we waited for 15 minutes. Well, the ride sucked this year. The actors in the individual scenes didn't even lip sink to the words and there was no headless horseman this year. Last year it was way better. Also, they have the same exact spiel as last year. It says Sleepy Hollow is brand new and LAFF is back for it's 13th year.(Actually for its 14th.)

Now we wanted to see if there were anymore actors in Necropolis and there weren't, so we decided to check out the freak show. I liked the stage and the little pre-show, but the rest, well lets just say I saw *'s. Literally. The one girl was alright, and 2 other guys, but when the guy started putting in the wire through his arms, well lets say I wanted to pass out. Last year I was fine, but I guess I just really needed to eat something.(That reminds me, Captain Nasty came out and did his act and then my friend came for me and we went to Ragin' Cajun. RC was running 5 cars and had about a 25 minute wait. It wasn't too bad and we had an awesome ride. We even got stopped at the blocks before the 2nd to last drop for a minute or so because of minor stacking issues. It was a weird stop.

Next was something to eat at the pizza place in Orleans Place. It was very good and then we headed over to Superman. The line was close to the entrance, but it was only 25 minutes long for the back row. It became my friend's favorite ride at the time. I guess it was fun and intense. :)

Now we wanted to ride Raging Bull and on the way saw 2 werewolves. Them and a few characters in SW Scaretory were the only ones we saw all day. On the way to Raging Bull we waited for Terrror Twister. The wait was 15 minutes for an always awesome ride! Some girl came into our cup and then followed us to Raging Bull.(Let's just leave that alone. :x ) Raging Bull was running 3 trains(only 2 were running earlier.) The line took 15 minutes for the back row and was tight. We got nice views of the waterpark and it looks like the whole wave pool might be dug up now. More maintenance people were working this ride.

Now it was about 5 o'clock so we headed over to a walk-on for the Demon in row 6:1 where I saw some workers from the Marketing department. The ride was neat with the red and black trains running. Next we went back to AER where we were greeted with a walk-on for the back row. or any row for that matter. There were only 2 ops on each side of AE. I also noticed that there is a lot more wood added next to the ride than there was before. Maybe some wood replacing or future retracking? :?: I also noticed that AER's lift was a lot faster than AEB's lift. We were even at the start and then we gained 2 train lengths. Great airtime with minor trims before the last helix.

DejaVu was not yet ridden yet and we only had 20 minutes until the park closed, so we went over there. On the way I saw SixFlagsGuy5, his friend, and DejaVuGurrl.(Whom I can add to the list of members of whom I have met. :D )They didn't want to ride with us(Come on, you call yourselves DejaVu fans? ), so we just went ourselves. We were towards the end of the line that closed promptly at 6. We decided to wait for 1A, which was an excellent decision. I got to see *'s again where they truly count. DejaVu really signed today! I didn't see it down once and the crew was kicking butt. I even got to talk to the Team Leader about the ride and figured I posted here. He had a lot of interesting informations. Nice guy! So after waiting 45 minutes for 1A and getting second to last dispatch, We noticed that the TL was letting people stay on for the last train of the night(For the whole park!) We were in row 7B(Where it has gotten slightly rough) and finished the day with stars(As from the song "I see stars")

As we were leaving, the park looked marvelous! The lights were very neat and the whole atmosphere of being one of the final guests out of the park was great! Traffic was pretty moderate to get out, but not too bad. Too bad there weren't many monsters out, but the ones who were looked neat(expecially the werewolf)

FYI: I could have ridden a lot more, but we just took our time today. Sorry that I wasn't able to meet up with SixFlagsGuy5 and DejaVuGurrl and company. Those stupid cell phones. There was also lots of red water like always. Blood River even had a new sign this year. Manny B sounded neat. I wish I could've seen LAFF. I like the new spot for DJ Bob! I don't always like to see *'s(stars in case you were wondering), but sometimes they can be sweet. DejaVu blows out the sea!

Until next time...

Sounds like it was great. I almost decided to go on Deja Vu but I wanted to get a ride or two on Bull and Hellevator.

Sounds like a lot of fun! I'm still really sorta angry that Illinois thinks that Columbus day is special enough to have off of school but Wisconsin doesn't...

Part of the problem on Columbus day is that much of the cast does not have the day off from school or work. So, things happen: like the Necropolis characters who could attend worked the Mausoleum instead of the street and helped keep it running, or actors who normally lead others, or work the street have to learn to lip sync the Scooby dialog in only a day...

I figured something was up with the Scooby Doo train. The 1st Thelma must have been just put on the ride then because she wasn't the greatest. :(

Yeah, two and a half hours of makeup just to stand in a drop window and scare people. I hate working in houses.

We were very short handed Monday, that is why the Necro characters were not on the streets until after 4 pm. Even Mayor Slayer was in the MAus.
