2005: 30th Year of SFGAm

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby SFGAm Rules on September 16th, 2004, 3:38 pm
We all know that the new waterpark was announced today. However, there wasn't any mention of a 30th year celebration. Do you think that there will be something that will be announced later? Will we have a new parade as we did at 25? Or, will all of SFGAm's focuses be on Hurricane Harbor? What do you think?

A New parade would be cool. I'm sick of Jumpin' Jammin' Jubillie. I hope we get more floats. It's always bugged me that they single out six or seven looney tunes then, ignore the rest. Don't get me wrong, i'm happy with HH for '05, but since i almost always see the parade a change would be nice.

I think they'll do it in 2006. At least I hope they do, because 1976--2006 is thirty years.
Remember, next year is the 29th year, but the 30th season.
Finally Coaster Season!!

For me the water park is enough! Although I don't think I'll be getting a pass for it... ever...

They won't celebrate an anniversary again until its 50th.

No, next year is 30. 1976 counts as 1, not 0.

Remove the stupid Venga Boys track. I didn't care for the show in front of the carousel or the parade this season because I percieve it as some huge advertisement for the company. The song alone turned the parade into a commercial on wheels.
R.I.P. Splashwater Falls and Space Shuttle America. Deja Vu, enjoy Idaho.

The 30th anniversary season would be 2005, but they celebrated 25th anniversary in 2001, which means 5 years later would be 30, which means 2006. I dont know how they came to this conclusion, but that is how it is.

^ Actually, 25 was celebrated in both 2000 and 2001. They still had the anniversary parade and the painting on the big doors in Hometown Square. I remember this because the only thing that was new in 2000 was the anniversary parade.

Oh well, what ever yaer it is, I think that they will do something for it. If next year, it will the addition of a huge waterpark and maybe a new parade (hopefully). If 2006, no one knows what would happen.

30 years isn't a milestone.

They didn't celebrate its 20th, 15th, 10th, or 5th.

What makes anyone think that 30 will be special?:
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

I think we are just hoping for some new rides, etx. The only reason they celebrated the 25th is because that's their "Silver" anniversery. Atleast thats the only reason I can think of.

Actually, they did celebrate their 20th anniversary. But it was only for like a week. The only thing they did was add some extra fire works to the parade and had some extra stuff in front of HTS, but it was gone the next week.

2005 is also Demon's 25th anniversary as Demon!

I expect big things for 2006 though, with the 25th anniversary of SFGAm's crowning centerpiece, American Eagle. One of the first, and the only racing mega-woodie that signaled the start of rapid growth of this now world-class theme park. SFGAm just wouldn't be here today without Eagle, and that's a fact.
