I know games make money, if they didn't then we probably wouldn't have any, but I was wondering if you think we have too many? I can see arguments both for and against them. On their plus side, games make money and SF can certainly use money right now and the more money the park makes the more they have available for improvements and new rides. On the negative side I've heard some people complain they take away from the park's atmosphere and if the atmosphere is hurt too much then some people may stop coming which means shorter lines, but it also means less money. I've felt for a long time that we have a great park, but I do think everyone/thing can be improved upon. I realize, assuming SF is making money on their games, the likelihood of seeing any games being removed is pretty small, so I'm asking this in more of a "what if" type of question. Another, "what if" sort of question about games is, in general, are arcades best placed in one or two areas of the park or should they be spread out? What do you think?
No, i think that the games help out the park. They would be bad though only if they were in the middle of the midway. I like how the games by the eagle are in there own area kind of. Revolution kind of blocks them from the rest of the area.
Oh also, you accidentally clicked on submit twice, and it made two topics. Just for the future only click on submit once, even if its not submitting. Sometimes it takes awhile. If you double post sometimes people are real jerks about it.
How would they ruin the atmosphere? I think that they help the atmosphere because when you think of amusement/theme parks, you think of rides, food, and games.
Also, I think that it is better when the arcades are spread throughout the park, rather than being bunched in certain areas of the park. It "promotes circulation."
sixflagsguy5 - Sorry about that. As you can tell I'm new. I'll try not to do that again.
As to atmosphere I don't know if I agree, but I've heard some people say that games cheapen the park and makes it too comercialized. I may be wrong, because I can't get into their heads of course, but I think they sort of see it like their preference for historical theming over comic book theming (another way of making the park too comericalized, perhaps). I think they see games as being overcomercialized and too much like extra pay rides, just another way to get your money. Of course, the easy answer if you don't like it would seem to be don't pay. On the other hand, I' think they might feel that more people would come to the park and more money would be available, in the long run, if the park didn't try to get your money every time you turned around. Like I said, persoanlly I'm open to at listening to any argument I just wanted to get others opinions.

ROTF I'm sorry, I know it was probably an accident, but the fact that you double posted a reply that said you wouldn't double post is just too good.
anyway, I wouldn't say we have to many. I mean, when you walk through certain areas, it seems like there are too many, but in other areas its just right. one of my big complaints is the lack of variety among the games. most of the games are water shooters. also, I think the prizes could be better. I know its cheaper to use your lisence and buy mass quantities of scooby doo, but wouldn't it be cool if the prizes matched the area?
I don't have a detonator; its on a timer.
A countdown timer?
No, a count-up timer. It goes from one to explode.
The park is smarter than you think. If they are making money on the game, they will keep it. If it isn't making money for them, they will take it out or put in a new one. The games aren't just there for show, there is a reason. I think the park would be missing something if the games weren't there. Even though I play games rarely, others do play them regularly.
i like having games in the park. I prefer to having a special game area rather then spred around the park, Just because I like seeing what kind of prizes are avalible for what games. I just hate trying to get a Batman stuffed toy when just down the path there is a cooler looking one GRRR that makes me mad. I agree with SFGA Bob that if they are spred out in the park the prizes should match the theme of the area.
The only part that takes away from theming is the clips of music and the other noises that the games make. I guess that they are supposed to attract people to the games.
Lol. That was hilarios. I was being nice about it because i used to double post all the time and i didn't know it was wrong until someone started yelling at me. Its not that big of a deal just telling you.
