S&S VS Ride Trade

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Cove26flags on August 29th, 2004, 1:29 am
Dosent anyone think it's wierd that Ride Trades Giant drop costs more than S&S's towers. S&S's tower I think cost 1.5 Million and Ride Trade's Cost I think around 8 Million. Whats so much better about Ride Trades than S&S's. Plus you get more in a S&S ride. Oh ya what do you prefer RT's or S&S's?

An S&S Tripple tower costs about $10 million. I can't remember where I read this, but I saw it earlier today

Just to let you know, this should be in the General Coaster Talk forum.

Personally, I like the S&S towers better because you go up fast.

I like an Intamin drop tower more just because it is an actual drop (you're really freefalling). It makes it more exciting I think. Though I really do like the S&S towers too, they seem a little more gentle than Intamin's.

Take it easy on him or her, he or her is just a newbie and only has 68 posts. I once posted about the eagle i think in a gaming forum.

One thing you have to remember for cost is that Giant Drop is the operating equivlent of 6 seperate S&S towers, while it's one tower, it is 6 entirely independant rides sharing that tower, that adds alot to the cost (probably why there are so many S&S towers and only a hand full of Giant Drops).

As for preferance, if they are on the ground I perfer Intamin, if they arent, I'll take S&S by far(I realize all Giant Drops are planted in the ground, but the expierience of elevated S&S's blows away the expierience of any Giant Drop)

When they are placed on top of buildings or very tall hills in the case of Marineland.

I like Giant Drop better than an S&S Drop tower like Power Tower. Like previously said you are actually free falling on Giant Drop. When on the drop side of Power Tower you feel like youre going slower and you can tell its controlled.

I know you cant compare the two but I love the feeling of getting shot up on Power Tower. It beats the drop side by far.

S&S isn't a abbreviation, it's the name of a company that build's alot of tower rides and now some coasters.

Actually the drop side of powertower shoots you down so you are going faster than in freefall. It then uses compressed air to cushin your fall so the deceleration begins higher up than on Giant Drop.
