Coaster Looks

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

This is kind of a stupid question but what rollercoaster do you think looked the coolest when turning into the park, Shockwave or Superman?

Shockwave can be seen for much further, so I would go with that. But when you walk past the fence, Superman obviously looks much better. (Did anyone notice that at the stairs that lead up to the holding brakes, they still have a small section of the original parking lot with parking lines and blocks?)

Superman by far, but the best coaster overall is X by far. That thing is massive and oh so pretty to look at.

Definately shockwave. You could see it from the McDonalds that is on Grand Avenue. And also you saw shockwave as the whole thing coming into the park. For a big coaster that is a big thing.

However Superman is like looking at a giant pretzel.

I think what I last said about superman is what applys for raging bull when you go on this one road that connects to washington and grand.
I want the sfgam survivor to be held every July and August.

I really liked seeing Shockwave...and during FF it looked even cooler by the gate, not really sure why, but I think it was because when you are standing in line to get in, you hear the music playing and you look up at Shockwave and it is literally towering over you (depending on where you wait in line) and...I dont know, it was just cool!

Exactly^. You just took one look at Shockwave and said wow. It looked like a beast, during FF or not. Superman dosent have that visual affect on me that Shockwave did.

ShockWave hands down. It was awesome seeing that massive coaster. Right when you saw ShockWave you knew it was a monster. It didnt matter to me whether or not it had themeing it just looked good. Nothing else to say here because people already said it.

I never had any good feeling when I saw S:UF. It just looks to plain to me even though it has the themeing. I think it looks boring probably because their is a lesser amount of supports. So all you see is the ride and a lot of grass. With ShockWave you just see one massive ride.

Hrmm, obviously most of you dont drive in from the south, because American Eagle IS Great America to eveyone who drives north on the expressway.

I agree.

But between Shockwave and Superman I would choose Shockwave.

Now this might sound crazy but I never actually got to go on shockwave.
The year I was finally tall enough for it. It was closed. And then the next year they were taking it down.

Shockwave looked unbelievable when you turn in. The massive drop, loops, and tangle of inversions looked so cool, and the ride was so tall. Superman looks whimpy as hell when you drive in. Its sad.

I have to agree with woodland about X. That ride is so massive and the supports are so huge. When you drive along side of it, the drop surprises alot of people. Its crazy.

I'm 13.

I use to only go to Six Flags once a year. And it wasn't exactly height it was more like me building up courage to ride it.

I've grown all lot since then. I use to be one of the shortest kids in my class, now I'm one of the normal-sized kids.

And plus I actually think I'm taller than 5' 1'' that was just a random guess.

I've never rode Shockwave either. But I have waited in line for it and walked through the train because my parents rode it. I was about 5 and there was no way I was riding it. My dad hates it by the way :-D.
Superman's looks are very underrated. I think it just looks very polished and it looked much bigger than I expected.

I went on shockwave and I thought it was fun. The only head banging part was the brake run and the part right before the first loop but centrfigul force of the loop stops it quick. It felt really cool.

Shockwave looks tight because you dont have to be up close to it to make you think it was a "monster" also blue is my favorite color so thats a plus.

But S:UF has best theming no matter what I mean it actually has landscaping.

Yeah, Shockwave gets my vote for this one. I loved it's towering look. It was just massive and such a beast. Superman looks neat too, but Shockwave definitely was a better entrance coaster.

Shockwave just looked better, it was intimating. But the first thing I always see from the park is American Eagle, and nothing can beat that.

I liked the way that the supports on Shockwave would give and sway as the train traversed the track. Kinda an eerie sight. Nothing was better than the walk in from the drop off zone and having shockwave looming over you.

I loved the way Shockwave looked when you first turned off of Grand Ave. It was enough to make everone go "Wow" everytime. When the sun hit it just right, the blue looked so shiny, as if it was just calling out to you.
Finally Coaster Season!!
