Millenium Force grabbed top Steel Coaster in the annual awards of the best of the best in the amusement park industry. Ranked by Amusement Today.
Boulder Dash was ranked #1 Wooden Coaster (Located at Lake Compounce)
Cedar Point was ranked as the Top Amusement Park and Paramount's Kings Island got the Best Kids area for a 4th year in a row.
I will raise your bet and add $100, its not going to happen. American Eagle was knocked off this list this year after last year it was something like 17th or something i could be incorrect on that number but i know it was in the Top 50.
With the Hades ride being built at the Dells and no doubt some other Rides added including a Rocket at SFGadv. i doubt Viper and Bull will be higher then where they are at now.
Considering that Ace Coaster Con will be held at SfGam next year, there is a good chance that more votes will be cast for them.(I wasn't just making a fake bet because I felt like it.)
I would also take you up on the bet. As each year goes by the coasters will have more new coasters to compete against. Less limelight to get. You do bring up a good point regarding Coaster Con. I just don't think it will swing many votes.
The voting and results have always been irregular. Did you see Knoebels? A great, great park, but over-rated (in my opinion) in those results. Even as a "Disney" guy I was shocked to see MK get #2 for cleanest park. It had a horrible year when it came to area upkeep and custodial.
It shows how perception based those polls really are. I was glad to see BGW get the kudos it deserves.
Raging Bull was eclipsed by Magnum, Steel Force, Nitro & Apollo's Chariot. I don't think it's going to move up next year. I've been wrong in the past - most notably on the sfgamworld survivor polls. Any ACErs who haven't ridden it yet, certainly will whine about the trims.
The woodies poll looked really out of whack. To have Viper just slightly above a neglected woodie like Timberwolf but then also ahead of woodies like Giant Dipper, Jack Rabbit, Racer & Gwazi has my head swimming. I just can't follow the flow of it all.
I was sort of kidding when I said "who wants to take bets?"
I don't really care if they do or not, it is just some stupid poll that have winners based on the voters. If the voters didn't get a chance to ride a ride like Avalanche, they won't vote for it. The ride definately deserved to at least be on the list, but not many voters rode it, so it is not on the list.
So what I'm saying is, if it is a popular park like Cedar Point, the rides at that certain park are going to rank higher than ones that hardly anyone goes to.

Raging Bull was also eclipsed by all 3 S:ROS coasters. Even the crappy one with the endless helix at SFAm. How'd they manage to swing that? Oh and did anyone notice that Millennium Force only beat out S:ROS (SFNE) by 14 votes? Talk about close!
Anyway, I'm very happy to see Boulder Dash finally get the credit it deserves. It truly is an incredible woodie and I recommend it to anyone looking for the ultimate terrain woodie. And Thunderhead made a good debut at #6, so I wouldn't be surprised if it made the top 5 next year.
And I will smack any ACEr who dare whine about the trims at CoasterCon next year. Hand to God, you diss SFGAm's shining jewel, and you will know my wrath.

What a rip-off
Have you seen the first floor of the Columbia?
I love the Columbia to death, but most carousel preservationists/fans would scoff at the first floor.
It really doesn't even garner the title of Carousel anymore now that they aren't all horses.

EDIT:
Upon closer inspection, I do see that Dr. Seuss got a ranking, and once again I cannot explain the rhyme nor reason to some of these results. While better then DCA's King Triton's Carousel, I don't understand it.
It comes as NO surprise that Knoebels got #1 for their amazing carousel reputation. That park probably got most of the carousel enthusiasts votes.
Wow some of this makes me want to cry. Son of Beast over Gwazi, let alone it making it on the list in the first place. I'm very suprised The Beast is holding up where it is, but it deserves it. And finally the Holiday World woodies get knocked off their cross. Magnum at number 3 just makes me giggle.
I think that the eagle should have won something. My favorite coaster used to be viper, but this year it seems to have less airtime, so now i like eagle more.
I wonder if any of the voters have ever been to the Wisconsin Dells. The Wilderness and the Kalahari both got shafted in the best indoor waterpark category. Either should have won but neither were even in the top three.
