I've heard this story a few months ago. Here's a link to the story: http://famulus.msnbc.com/FamulusIntl/ap ... OPEVivendi Universal is putting up for bid everything, including its theme parks and its music, film, and TV studios. I'm sure more news will come out as it becomes available.
Update: They did sell it to Nbc. Between the two parks, Universal Studios is more like a sit down restaurant, while Islands of Adventure is more like a typical amusement park. I was at both of these parks, and they didn't really catch my eye. The best ride in my opinion at IOA was the Jurassic Park ride, and at Universal Studios (before they put Mummy) it would be the Ghostbusters show.
Ilovthevu..If your going to bring back topics, First make sure they are still formatted. Second-MAKE SURE THE LINKS WORK. There is no point for this topic anymore.
I'm sure that everyone can look back through the history of posts on this site themselves.

Universal didn't sell anything to anybody.
Universal Corp. was owned by a French company called Vivendi. Vivendi sold their holdings to GE - who also owns NBC.
There were rumors that GE wanted to keep the movie studios for synergy with NBC, but wanted to unload the parks.
The Universal Studios Spain theme park was already put in transaction.
The Universal Studios Japan park was never owned by Universal Corp.
IOA and Universal Studios Florida is only owned partially by GE/Universal. Blackstone is the other owner and the most likely candidate to buy the remaining interest in Florida as well as Universal Studios Hollywood.
I don't understand you're analogy between IOA and USF and restaurants. Would you please elaborate?
in my opinion, Universal Studios is more of watching things such as the E.T. story, Jaws shark coming after you, an earthquake, a tornado, and so on.
IOA, I see more as a typical amusement park that has some typical amusement park rides such as tea cups, drop ride, water raft ride, merry-go-round, not crazy themed rollercoasters, and so on. in my opinion, so please don't kill me on this, chimike.

I would agree .. That is the intended purpose of an iron park and a studio "be a part of the movies" park.
The studio park concept is losing a lot of theme and that is why you are seeing additions of rides like RnRC, Mummy & MIB added to the different studio parks.
