Can you say, Hurricane Harbor?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I think it would be cool. (And possible) for there to be three different tickets. One for Just Waterpark, one for just GAm, and then some kind of "Deluxe" ticket for both. Each costing a different amount of money. Meaning that there would have to be a second gate for the waterpark. So it probably won't happen but that would be cool. Hey...You never know...At least until construction gets going and they make an announcement...

First, read my last response for my POV on the Washington St Access

Second, the ticket scheme you outlined actually will most likely happen. The majority of the parks nationwide do exactly as you outline. Like APs, you can buy specific day tickets or combo tickets for the day.

I would say this is a very wishful, lofty statement.

No, it was open on 8/16/04 and there were no visible signs of land preparation. Only markers.

The waterpark can easily be up and ready by the end of May. Why would they start construction this off-season?

I'm not sure if you skipped my original post on this thread or not, but I would be interested in what actual observations you base your opinions on? Drive by statements like these really don't convince me that a lot of the factors that I have observed should be simply discounted.

So why, in your opinion, will "The Waterpark [can] easily be up and ready by the end of May"?

I wouldn't say it couldn't open in 2005, but I highly doubt anyone who thinks it will be open -no questions asked- in early '05, let alone Memorial Day Weekend. I think many people don't have the proper perspective to judge the exact language used in the past investor conference call. It was not a PR announcement, but a message to certain stakeholders that the park is on the board and '05 funds will be used for it. There was no announcement towards the actual park's operations.

Most of those posts were pointless or repetitive. The waterpark hasn't offically been announced with specifics yet, and people are already saying things that can't be confirmed in any way, and that it won't be ready til September.

I'm not sure if my post was included in your judgement above, but regardless, I do find it amusing that you state a very rational POV above but also are perfectly content saying:

"The waterpark can easily be up and ready by the end of May."

whoa...Chimike, try editing your posts instead of double or triple posting, huh?

anyway, I think we shouldn't necessarilly be looking to SFMM and SFGADv for blueprints of how fast our waterpark will go up or what its admission will be. we should be looking at whichever SF parks have most recently built a water park. that would give us a more accurate picture of what ours will probably be like as that is the direction that SF has most recently been headed.

I admit that I don't know anything about SF's waterparks, so I'm not going to say how fast ours will go up or how its admission will be structured, but I do believe that our waterpark will be open early 2005. I base this on what I recall from posts detailing the confrence call. obviously I could be mistaken, but SF said that they won't see profit from the waterpark from the first year of its operation, but do expect to recoup losses by 2006. this means that they plan on opening the park in 05.

of course, even if I'm right, that's just what SF is planning, not what will actually happen.

there's a good sized water park not far from my house that was built a few years ago. I can dig up some info and see how big it is and how long it took to build (I think it may have been less than a year to construct).
I don't have a detonator; its on a timer.
A countdown timer?
No, a count-up timer. It goes from one to explode.

They were all separate points from separate posts. I tried to respond as quickly and unobtrusively as possible considering the points flying all over the place.

Sorry if it isn't your preferred method.

Fair enough.

1st of all, after reading all of the posts that i had missed, I was under the impression that people want to believe the park will open late 2005 or even in 2006. What is up with that?

From what I have gathered through knowledge, sources, the message boards, and through common sense, the waterpark is expected to open late May, without expecting delays.

2nd of all, parts are on property, land work will start soon(markers are on pavement), there are workers who are expected to only work til June of 2005(at the latest), and the Big Man himself said that the waterpark will be advertised in 2005. The CEO said that this along with the other exciting new attractions for 2005, will be talked about in greater detail for the next conference call.

You know, it is hard to be away for over 3 pages, and make a post after all of the other posts you missed. There is a lot more that I could say, but it would not be the right time to do so.

All good observations...

It will be interesting to watch, hopefully not too much capital will be spent on an accelerated labor schedule to get it open simply 3 weeks earlier. My educated guess would say a July 4th promotion and opening.

Like I said, it will be interesting to watch and discuss. Thank you for elaborating on your original point.

Uh...No he's right. Double Posting is against the rules because it waste's a lot of space.

^A Forth of July Opening would be cool.

I don't really know anything about sf's waterparks or waterparks in general. So for those of you who keep snapping at me, i'm making educated guesses based on things that i have read in the past 11 pages.

Anyway...Done ranting now. Continue.

Rather than a July 4th opening, I would like to see it open on May 29th, the 30th birthday of GAm.

For anyone doesn't know how to put two quotes into one post, just enter
Code: Select all
Your Quote
for each quote you want to use. Don't forget to put the member name in quotation marks. If you just want the word "Quote" to appear above the quote, just use
Code: Select all
Your Quote
Just a tip for the day. :)

All that is going on is construction trucks entering and leaving the park through Washington. I got back from the park today, and as I entered the park, I saw a construction truck along with some other truck leave the park. Also, after riding SUF in the morning, I noticed for some reason, IDK, that they were cutting trees down across the street by the retention pond, it seems like they were clearing out the area, but whatever. Also on Eagle today, I finally saw the construction sign. :)

Attention, Attention. Today when I went to sfgam I saw bulldozers in the extra parking lot that they only use on real crowded days and they were taking out trees. Do you know what this means? They could be talking out the extra parking space and putting the water park there.

Or it could mean they're repaving the parking lot. Or they just keep them there.

No they were moving and taking out some of the trees that surround the lot.

Or they could have just been moving the trees to expand the parking lot...WOW, kind of makes sense.

This is great. Every movement the park makes for the next couple of months will receive speculation of " Dude they are building the waterpark because..." .

This waterpark is a good idea but could start circulating more rumors on this website as well as others. I don't really mind because you can tell when it is not too believable.
