SFGAm, August 11th

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby DejaVuGurl1203 on August 12th, 2004, 2:05 am
Got to the park at 8:40. I headed into Mardi Gras, noticed that King Chaos was open. I thought about getting in line since the line was pretty short, but I decided to ride it later if I had time. Cajun's line was pretty short - 25 minute wait. First night ride on it, pretty sweet.

I was debating whether to go on BTR or V2 next. I decided to see how short BTR's line was. Walk on for back row. Walked right back on in row 6. BTR was really awesome tonight...

It was about 9:40 when I walked by V2 - they decided to close the line until CAD started. I headed toward DV since the line looked short from BTR's lift - Same damn story as V2. But I decided to wait it out. They opened the line up at 10. Twenty minutes later, I'm waiting in line for 1A and it breaks down. 10 minutes later they said it didn't look too good and they closed the ride for the night. :x Wasted 45 minutes just for that piece of trash.

I quickly headed toward RB - 25 minute wait for back row. Awesome night ride. I went over to Whizzer, waited 2 trains for back row. My first night ride on Whizzer. I must admit, it is amazing at night. Best Whizzer ride ever. :)

As I was walking through Orleans Place, I noticed SUF was stuck at the top of the lift. Well, it wasn't completely stuck, but it was just BARELY starting to go down. It made me laugh for some odd reason. I went on V2, the line wasn't bad but the station was. 25 minute wait for front row. First night ride on this too... Now I've been on every coaster here at night. Very, very awesome night ride. :D

Well, it was 5 to midnight, so I sort of made my way out of the park, even though I was gonna see if anything else was still open. Wow, King Chaos still had a line, it was out in the middle of the midway. 5 minutes after 12 a ride op finally decided to cut off the line. Waited 2 rides to get on. Awesome ride.

Tonight was awesome, only got on 7 rides but it was well worth it. Vu ruined my night a bit though. Tomorrow... should be good. DV better be open.

Deja Vu doesn't like to be open for CAD, I think it thinks we are trying to take advantage of it or something. :)

Anyways, glad you had fun. Sounds like it wasn't quite as bad as last month's CAD event. Sadly football likes to run until 9 oclock everynight for me (almost 45 minutes longer than it should) so I couldn't even drive down there if I wanted too. :(

That was because nobody decided to run the line through any switchbacks. I really don't see why they would do it that way.

Here's what sucked...

I was planning on going to coasters after that day, unfortunetly I had it marked on the calendar as the 13th of august but I also went to the park on the 11th, in the morning however, so I guess I'll go next year.
You see I like the cubs and the white sox. If it came down to the world series I'd pick the cubs.

C.A.D.1, + C.A.D.2, + C.A.D.3 = Too Many People = Lot's of Money = Coming Back Next Year

Maybe, next year they will change the name to Rides After Dark.

They only would do that if all of the rides were open, which I highly doubt because they would need to pay more rideops to stay late.

How did SF make a lot of money running C.A.D? It was for season pass holders, I can see food service, and the few games that were open, and having a campaign to get people to buy season passes. but thats not that much money.

I also went to this CAD and it was a blast. The previous week I went on Thurs. with freinds. Horrible day, 7 hours and only 4 rides. I simply couldn't end the summer like that. Got there around 8:30 and headed straight to RB. 15 wait for back, rode that two times back to back. Line was still short but decided to change things up. Rode drop because I figured they'd close it again for CAD like last time (AND THEY DID! ARGHH) then went to Viper for perhaps my best coaster ride ever. For some reason I could not get the lap restraint to click remotely tight enough. The next click in succession must have been like 1mm away but it simply wouldnt go no matter how hard I pushed (although if you have to push that hard, the ride won't be comfortable) So out we go with my lap bar a good 6" above my lap. Now we all know how much airtime you get on Viper but when your lifted a good 6" out of your seat it's a whole different experience. I haven't had that much fun since my 6 back to back rides of Magnum XL-200. I then hit RB two more times, 15 min for back then headed to AE since that never has a line and is empty during CAD usually. Walked right on, then walked right on again.

By the way, how does it work if no one else is in line? Can you stay on or do you have to go around again?

After that I headed over to Batman since I usually never ride it and havent in a while. Stopped by V2 first ( Big mistake) I keep forgetting how much those restraints hurt my "man area" and how slow that station platform moves. Could have hit Batman 4 times in the amount of time it took me to ride V2 once. Anyhoo, headed over to batman and walked on middle, by then it was 11:55 and I headed out. Great nite. One of my best SFGam trips ever.

RB - 4, V - 1, GG - 1, AE - 2, V2 - 1, Btmn - 1

Total - 10 rides
Unless you pass out from lack of oxygen, the first drop isn't tall enough :-)

What is GG? Did you mean GD? I learned today that people puke on the green and blue monster. So, if they give the spiel, it might only be throw-up. The lady said that people were losing their cookies quite a bit on Aug 13.

To coasterkid86: If only 10 people bought a season pass that day considering that they are about $80, that would be $800. I'm sure it was much more than that for all three events.
