To add more of what was said on the conference call:
-La Ronde will gain new attractions(which sounded like probably in 2006 and the park in San Fransisco sounded as if it may have more improvements as well.)
-There was a competitive disadvantage regarding SFWOA.
-They are not in a rush to sell parks. It is in the end of a 3-4 year cycle of a slow economy, so it would not be a smart time.
-They look to sell land at parks which will add no benefit for growth.
-Attendance is expected to grow immensely at the New Jersey and Chicago parks next year due to the waterpark and other attractions throughout the system.
-May and June brought poor attendance to Atlanta, Chicago, and the Texas parks(weather)
-The second half of July brought bad attendance to New Jersey, New England, and the stretch of parks from Washington to New York and Montreal.
-Chicago park had terrrible attendance in May, but a huge recovery has occured since.
-There is high expectations for the Chicago park next year. There is a significant opportunity with the waterpark which will enable the park to issue a new family product to the marketplace and assist SF Inc. in attendance problems in the marketplace. Waterparks are proven cash flow contributors in time. They have low on-going capital requirements. They go on to say that this will be a major park!
-They gave an estimate on season pass usage which was 3.4 visits per holder in 2003, which is expected to be about the same this year.
-There have been no approaches of future asset sellings.
-They are not satisfied with this years results and seem very optimistic about the future.
I'm going to look up other waterpark costs and see how this will compare. It may be the biggest capital addition in the industry next year!

According to the call, they anticipate to spend $90 million of capex for 2005, NOT including the waterpark. $125 million including the waterpark. So the park will cost around $35 million. To put this amount in perspective, the most expensive coasters top out at about $25 million (Millennium Force and TTD for example).

You should be happy if not for the water park, but for the added capacity. While a waterpark will draw more people to the park it will also draw people from in the park to spend some time in the waterpark portion, thus creating shorter lines for the rollercoasters and other attractions during the afternoon on nice days. And don't even say you wouldn't be happier with shorter lines .
Yeah, I didn't think about that. Let's hope it really does create shorter lines. I mean of course I'm happy SFGAm is getting a water park, just doesn't really interest me. No biggie though.
I think what is more important than the waterpark being built, is that they are going to make SFGAm, one of their premeir parks, if not their best. SFGAm has always been one of their big parks, but it sounds as if GAm, has gained top priorities.
Considering the quote says next to SFGAm and not in it, I'm thinking it will be a separate admission for it. With season passes, do they let you go in a SF separate waterpark? DejaVu The Ride, that wasn't your original signature.

I persoanlly would rather have a coaster, but now that I think about it, it does have some good points.
-It's new so thats where most of the GP will be
-^Which means shorter lines
-Chicks half naked. (Sorry thats my own advantage )
-And, we will egt recognition as one of the top parks (not saying we werent before but now we get credit)
That's a very good question... currently, do Six Flags season passes allow admission to the Hurricane Harbors already built? That would be a good indication if ours will fit the pattern.
Also, it's ironic that we would get a waterpark the very next year after our sister park (PGA) got one. Coincidence? I think not.
It says, "Since your I'd has been processed at the park for which it was purchased, your season pass may now be used at any Six Flags Theme Park, Enchanted Village/Wild Waves, The Great Escape, La Ronde and Wyandot Lake on regular operating days (not valid at waterparks or Frontier City/White Water Bay)."
So, if it's separate, I'm guessing you can't use it.

I have a feeling that you may need two season passes starting next year, or maybe they will make one season pass that is good for both parks but more expensive?

It was until I changed it.(Remember, you were wondering how much you could trust me?)
This couldn't have come at a better time. Waterparks are very popular, especially on really hot days. Lines at Dorney Park and Holiday World(ig) have drastically shorter lines for the rides due to their very popular waterparks. If it is done right, this will do the same for our park(hopefully).
Even though I knew that this would be the most reasonable addition next year, the mentioning of it in the conference call really shocked me.
It also mentioned more about how at the next call that the new for 2005 attractions will be discussed more and it sounded as if Magic Mountain is out and Great Adventure is in(If you know what I mean).
WOW! I have never actually gone to a waterpark. I hope that this will bring in the cash for our park. Hopefully, this won't be like the other waterpark where nothing was ever built.
This is just going to be awesome, I was just talking about how we needed something to help the capacity of our park, this is the ultimate thing to help.

Where may my pass be used? Since your ID was processed at the park for which it was purchased, your season pass may now be used at any Six Flags theme park, Enchanted Village/Wild Waves, The Great Escape, La Ronde and Wyandot Lake on regular operating days (Not valid at waterparks or Frontier City/White Water Bay)
Maybe if we have our SFGAM pass we could get in to only the SFGAM waterpark though?
^ It depends on what kind of water park. If it is like the one at SFGAdv, we will need an extra pass. If like the one at SFA, you can get in with your SFGAm pass.
I'm assuming it will be seperate admission, meaning you get the option of buying a season pass that includes both parks that costs extra $$.
Some parks offer it free, but I doubt with a park as big as GAm.
