Can you say, Hurricane Harbor?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby DejaVu The Ride on August 10th, 2004, 9:22 pm
Ok, I'm not the one to start rumors now, but this is as much fact as SfGam getting 5 new family rides for 2004.

This morning, Six Flags Inc. held its 2nd Quarter results, Conference Call.
It mentioned how Economy and weather have been the major downfall for parks this year, and how they have set a 3-5 year strategy to reach maximum benefits. So far, top executives have called 2004 "inconsistent".

Here are a few things mentioned:
-SfNe has had low attendance due to the accident on Superman.
-There has been a reduction this year in customer complaints
-Mr.Six has exceeded the company's greatest expectations
-The campaign is in the top 10 of new commercials
-Mr.Six has a 70% likeability factor
-Six Flags got free PR for Letterman and Good Morning America
-Mr.Six will be more valuable next year to promote a powerful set of new rides and attractions
-The Atlanta, Chicago, and San Antonio parks have had good seasons due to marketable family attractions
-90 million of capital is expected to be spent on existing parks(excluding SfGam additions)
-A number of parks will receive new attractions for 2005
-There will be a exciting and huge addition in New Jersey
(I will add more later as I finish listening to the conference call)

And the main reason I had to post this.

Here is a quote that was said, " We expect to invest $90,000,000 in our existing parks, and to build a new waterpark next to our existing Chicago park." That seems sketchy, but from more listening, it sounded as if the park will cost $35,000,000.

Thank you six flags! :D :D :D

More to add later. :)

If they were to build a waterpark, it would not be across the highway and I cannot think of any other space in the area (well I can, but it's pretty much very close to/in the park). Also, it would most likely be seperatley gated like it is at Magic Mountain.

I wish but I doubt it will happen. I thought they sold that land.

How do you listen to these conference calls? I doubt they're open to the public. Even if you knew how to access the system, you almost always need a PIN code as well.

If the site admin believes it then I do. I can't wait until next year if it is really true.

I did almost the same thing you did. It shocked the heck out of me. Does anyone remember one of my old signatures? "I like to go to Six Flags to ride a ride, I will go to Hurricane Harbor starting 2005."

I am very very very very excited about this waterpark, now I don't have to go to Noah's Ark all the time for a good waterpark day!

I'm not whining, in fact I’m very happy that were finally getting a water park. It's just that before we knew about this most people assumed we would get a new coaster in 06 and now that probably won't happen.

^So now instead of "Ride this new ride for '05" The commercials will be, "Ride a lot of new rides for '05 in our BRAND NEW waterpark!"

Meh, I guess it's nice that SFGAm may be getting a waterpark, but I don't care for water parks. So, I'm not really that excited, if at all.

I will listen to the conf. later, since I soon gotta be in bed for trip to park tomorrow, but where exactly is this going to go? They sold all the land accross the highway, so where exactly they putting a waterpark?

Awesome. Now the speculation will be all be about where the waterpark is going! I doubt it will be inside the park, considering they just signed that contract with Stargate at the SSA spot, and that was the only place I could see them putting one (if the go-carts and SSA were removed.)

They sold the land accross the highway, so I'm not too sure. It'll definitely be an interesting off-season!

Anyone know what times during the conference call they mention SFGAm? It's a one hour and 45 minute call... so a little long to listen to.

EDIT: Start listening at 47 minutes into the call. They mention Capex and SFGAm

I can actually see them putting it in after the Go Carts and Stargate where the bus parking lot is. They will then use the overflow lot for daily parking, and possibilly pave another parking lot somewhere.
