It may not be the largest waterpark in the world, but it is the largest in Illinois. Many of you probably have never been there but that is fine. I am writing this to inform you of what the park has to offer.
First off, the park is highly themed to a Carribean tropical paradise. It has many palm trees throughout the park, music, and a few of the rides are themed too.
The park has an arcade, gift shops, a food court, and many food/drink stands all over. They also sell 'Big Squirts' which you can buy and then fill them with water at the various filling stations in the park.(Which is a lot of fun BTW because these are sometimes even better than you most powerful squirtgun. But it depends on on big the hole is made.)
For the rides/ attractions. They have a wave pool, adventure river, 4 tube slides, 3 body slides, a multi-level treehouse attraction, a kiddie pool, and a Master Blaster. Here is a description of each attraction.
Breakers Beach Wave Pool- It is a 75,000 sqaure foot wave pool with waves that start up every 15 minutes after the last wave. It is very large and the bottom doesn't scratch your feet like many wave pools do.
The Abyss- New for 2004, these two dark tube slides are very fun and disorienting. They are blue and yellow, with the blue being the faster of the 2. They have a pretty good capacity so the longest I have waited was 15 minutes(on a packed day).
Pipeline and Thrill on the Hill tube slides- These are the older of the tube slides and still are a blast. Pipeline is more of a straight trek down the hill with huge curves that swing you to the top of the slide, Thrill on the Hill has more helix curves and is a little slower. The wait never gets too long on these.
Bonzai Pipeline, Keel Hauler, and Sea Serpent body slides- Pretty much your standard open tubed body slides. The middle one(I believe Bonzai Pipeline) is the fastest(but shortest), the left one(Sea Serpent) is the longest and overall keeps the speed the longest and is my favorite, and then Keel Hauler is the slowest.
Slash Magic River- A very fun and long lazy river. It has a dry and peaceful direction to start out on or you can go the wet way with squirting fountains, a waterfall, and huge waves that give a 'rocking' feel. Then there are two pavilions that have huge waterfall 'showers' and then a more peaceful section, then you can choose left(dry) or right(wet with a huge waterfall). If it is crowded, you usually have to get out and get back at the entrance or if it is pretty empty, you can go around as much as you like.
Splashmagic Island- An interactive play treehouse with waterslides, buckets, hoses, and waterfalls. It also has a 1,000 gallon bucket that drops when full. It is also surrounded by the lazy river, so you take a bridge to get to the area. It is fun for quick dowsing by the bucket, but I don't spend too much time here.
Kiddie Pool(I forget if it has a name)- A nice 6 in pool area, with little fountains, a shell waterslide, and a frog waterslide for the little kiddies. It also has floating animals that kids can climb on and little geysers. I have never played in here but my little cousin has.
Splashblaster(2000)- the star attraction at Magic Waters(and also the most popular). Be warned, that if you visit this park, the lines for this will get long and I reccomend riding this first. Most of the queue line has a shade covering so the wait isn't in the hot sun, though. The longest I have waited is 1 hour, but the line has been known to grow to 1 1/2 hours. It is not a capacity monster. Ok, now for the ride. You start at ground level and enter into a 2 person tube(like on RCT). Then once the 'block is cleared 1/3 up the lift, the tube can go up the 80 foot tall lift.
Then at the top, you slide into the actual slide and do a 180 degree turn and go down a double-down drop(60 feet) and get pushed up the next hill with water jets. Then partially up and partially down the next hill is enclosed, so water flys up from behind you and gets you soaked. Then there is a 40 foot straight drop and then up again into the enclosed part of the slide. It is pitch black for about 100 feet(turns are pretty neat here), then you have another very steep drop and then up again.(They use to have an on-ride photo here, but too many people did bad things for it like mooning or flashing, so they took it out) Then after you go up again you do a longer 180 degree turn and water splashes up on you. Then there's another drop and then you go uo and then down again into the splash finale. The best ride at the park and very good for a water ride.
Magic Waters is a very nice waterpark located just 80 minutes to the west of Six Flags Great America, and is usually only crowded on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. I highly reccomend visiting this park. They have also cleaned it up nice over the years, so it is not considered a dump.
Thanks for reading. Any questions, just ask.
p.s. This is not a trip report. I'm just informing you guys about the park.
