We Got The Beat!

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Has anyone ever gone to see that "We Got The Beat" thing at Sfgam? Please give me your opinions.

My opinion was that well bless the looney toon's hearts for trying but it was dumb. If you haven't seen it it just a show about 80's rock with a cheesy version of "Funky Town". Overall it was a little kids show and I really am not a huge fan of the 1980s. Sorry Bugs.
You see I like the cubs and the white sox. If it came down to the world series I'd pick the cubs.

in my opinion, it was horrible. I left with in 15 minutes of the show. But, I should have known, its not meant for people my age its meant for kids and families.

Yeah. The only reason I went is to say I went to the thing and I just have to say thank god for not charging admission on that.

Oh and about your signature, did the woman happen to be Jessica Simpson?

I'm gonna go to bed now so you guys can do what ever you want in this topic just don't get it locked allright. Goodnight!

"We Got the Beat" plays in Theater Royale in Orleans Place. It features the Looney Tunes singing and dancing to popular 80's songs.

hey, I thought it was funny as heck.

I guess if you like some of the music it makes it more enjoyable. I still think about Selvester sing Stray Cat Strut and think its funny.

My next trip I plan on catching the show in the afternoon while the parks busy.

The show wasn't that bad, but I still thought it was for little kids.

Good morning guys. Glad you didn't get this topic locked.

It is for little kids.

Do you remember the part where some kids get to go up on stage?

Yes, the show isn't that great, but as I think of it, it was better than the one outside where they had a roadmap as the background. Looney Tunes characters should do more talking than singing though. A couple years ago at SFStL, they had a "talking show" and it was good. It was too short, but it was good. Talking is better. Leave the singing for the parade.

When this topic came up, I thought you guys were talking about the carousel show. I was thinking to myself, in a week or so everyone loved it and now they hate it.

I have yet to see "We Got the Beat". I don't think that it can be any worse than that show before the parade. Who ever writes the parade show is obsessed with the phrase "Six Flags Party". I mean, are we really having a party? Could we get a show that has something else besides those words? We are about America’s history, not SF party. Is anyone else as sick of this as I am?

I think it's been the same writer for a few years. I love the parade, so i'll ride whizzer or something during the show, and then check the parade. But i have seen the show a couple of times. Like when we're sitting and eating or soemthing. Ever since it was the "Dancin' in the STreets" parade a few years ago, the writer really has liked the phrase "Six Flags Party" ^! And the parade is fro little kids. When i was little i didn't even know it was called "Great America" I just knew it was "Six Flags" but then i was reminded with the spiret of america parade. But i just watched the parade to see the looney tunes when i was little.

I thought "We got the beat" was decent.

Of course my teenage years were in the 80's, so most of those songs I got into.

As others have said, it's geared for kids. My daughter got to get on stage and danced with them.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

See I thought that the hilight of the WGTB show was when the bubbles come down. (just kidding) But seriously the hilights were when they sang funkytown and celebrate good times (But the melody on funky town didn't quite use the same techno sound as the original version.) Other than that it was pretty dumb.

We Got the Beat is only a 20 min show so you should have just stayed....i think its a cute show, but not meant for me....I went to see the show for the first time during the B96 bash, and no one showed up so me and my friend got to dance up on stage with the looney tunes...that was the only good show! haha!

I have gone to see it twice. Because my cousins seem to really like it. For me it was only fun because I embarassed the hell out of them by singing along really loud. heh. (Yeah, I can be that kind of obnoxious when I want to be..lol).
But all in all I thought it was cute. Kids seem to like it, and that's basically the point of the whole thing. And I also think that's probably why it is only 20 minutes long. Can you imagine kids sitting still for longer than that while at a theme park?

Well I guess I had to make a plan for this year at great america didn't I. My plan was to go on pretty much everything and see pretty much all the shows. Good thing I made that plan because I've never been in the grand music hall.

I never said anything about the magic show being bad...let me try to be a little more clearer....the singing shows were great, the past few shows have been ok....but for me, i really dont think the magic show is that great....i like Drew Thomas better and I figured out how all the tricks are done already, and in my opinion, they shouldnt have done the magic show in the grand music hall because its not the best stage to perform "secret" magic tricks on....thats why they had to block off cetain sections in the theater...

Well when marriotts built the park they weren't expecting to have a magic show in the grand music hall. There's a difference between a ragular stage and a magic show stage.

they didnt have a problem having a magic show in the Theater Royal! But, what I meant was...why not put the magic show on a stage that fits it best!

Well it might make more sense if they had a magic show in the theatre royal they could call it magic royale.
