"See, free nations are peaceful nations. Free nations don't attack each other. Free nations don't develop weapons of mass destruction."
George W. Bush, Milwaukee, WI, Oct 3rd, 2003
Because of Bush, the United States is NOT peaceful and with the creation of the PATRIOT Act and other laws that erode our civil liberties, US citizens are much less free than before Bush was in office. There are also other "free nations" that are NOT peaceful, that DO attack and that DO develop WMDs, such as Israel. What does Bush mean by his statement? Does his statement exclude the US and its allies?
Facts:
» George HW Bush (Bush Sr) is a former director of Halliburton. He is now one of the directors of The Carlyle Group, one of the U.S.'s largest defense contractors.
» Dick Cheney, is Halliburton’s former chairman and chief executive.
» Halliburton is the world’s largest oil field services company and now has billions of dollars worth of contracts in Iraq. They have by far the largest number of contracts in Iraq. Some of Halliburton's contracts are to provide services to ChevronTexaco.
» National Security Advisor, Condoleezza Rice, is a former director of Chevron. She held a quarter of a million shares of Chevron stock and had an oil tanker named after her until being appointed by Bush.
» ChevronTexaco is the #1 US importer of Iraqi oil and they are the only major US oil company that imports more oil from Iraq than from Saudi Arabia.
Let's review:
Halliburton is the largest oil field services provider and provides services to Chevron. Bush Sr. was a director of Halliburton. Dick Cheney was Halliburton's CEO. Chevron is the #1 importer of Iraqi oil. Bush started a war in Iraq. War brings profit to defense contractors. Bush Sr is a director of one of the world's largest defense contractors. See the circle of greed and profit? These facts show there is a serious conflict of interest with the relationships between the Bush family, the Bush Administration, ChevronTexaco, Halliburton and the Carlyle Group. The Bush family and friends have been profiting from war and will continue to profit greatly through continued services contracts in Iraq and the controlled flow of Iraqi oil.
Both Bush and Clinton launched attacks on Iraq for the same reasons! Clinton’s attack on Iraq was very unsuccessful, not only did oil prices rise sharply, he also wasted our money calling off the attack half way through.
The so called attack, came into being when Iraq kicked out inspectors. In August,Clinton launched missile attacks against Saddam, and Osama. On the brink of war again, Clinton called off B-52s over the Atlantic, costing the U.S. millions. Democrats and Republicans alike, were mighty disappointed in Clinton’s decision not to get the Iraqi Leader. What caused this attack? In Clinton’s speech, he stated the following: “Good evening. Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors. Their purpose is to protect the national interest of the United States, and indeed the interests of people throughout the Middle East and around the world.” Clinton and Bush have stated many of the same things as: “Second, if Saddam can cripple the weapons inspection system and get away with it, he would conclude that the international community - led by the United States - has simply lost its will. He will surmise that he has free rein to rebuild his arsenal of destruction, and someday - make no mistake - he will use it again as he has in the past.” Clinton said: “That if in any way Saddam threatens the Allies, we should attack,” that is exactly what Bush did.
Bush’s attack was highly criticized by many. Was Clinton’s? No. Bush’s attacks were successful in catching Saddam, and taking over Iraq. Bush said in his speech: “The danger is clear: Using chemical, biological or, one day, nuclear weapons obtained with the help of Iraq, the terrorists could fulfill their stated ambitions and kill thousands or hundreds of thousands of innocent people in our country or any other.” He also stated: “This is not a question of authority, it is a question of will.” Does that sound familiar? Did Clinton say something almost exactly the same? “The danger is clear: Using chemical, biological or, one day, nuclear weapons obtained with the help of Iraq, the terrorists could fulfill their stated ambitions and kill thousands or hundreds of thousands of innocent people in our country or any other.” Clinton wanted us to attack if the threat was clear, so we did. The war may still be roaring on, but Bush has corrected every single one of Clinton’s mistakes, including capturing Saddam.
The way that Bush has screwed us up in Iraq, we are going to need a military force to enforce the law for the next 5 years. All the while Arab hatred twords the United States is growing.
But the War in Iraq is of little concern to me compaired to the domestic issues faceing us right now. Education, Civil Rights, Enviroment are the big three concerning me.
Bush wants (or maybe allready has) passed a bill that would provide money to parents in failing school districts to send their kids to Catholic schools. While this may be good for the students it is horrible on the School districts. Instead of giving money to the schools ot make much needed improvements, the money is given to parents to send their kids to a RELIGOUS (Bush is extremely Catholic and uses religouse beliefs in many of his laws/bills) School. How are our inner city schools ever going to impove if no students or money are channled in? Our inner city public schools will become a wasteland if Bush is reelected.
Enviroment. This is huge to me after taking AP Enviromental Science courses in school. What Bush has effectivly done is support big Oil and Coal mining buisnesses. Laws regulaiting toxic dumping (primarily Oil refuse) have been lifted by more than 60%. Bush has now made it legal to strip mine a mountain (completly destroying the mountain) and deposit the debris in old river and creek beds. Now the debris is littered with coal dust and other deep earth material. This kills and completly destroys old growth forest and the marine ecosystem. Oh, and we only have less than 40% of our old growth forests left, which have the second highest concentration of endangered species only behind wetlands.
Exploring Oil in Alaska? Well reports say that there is little more than 10 years supply of oil in the Alaskan Range. The tundra which is currently part of Artic Circle National Park is what is to be drilled in. Before Bush's term it was Illeagle to mine or drill in a National Park. He has changed this for his oil tycoon buddies. The trans alaskan pipeline has already changed migration habbits of many of the native elk and carabou spicies today.
Now the part that gets me angriest....Civil Rights. NEVER SINCE SLAVERY HAS THERE BEEN SO MUCH HATRED AND SUPPORT TO LIMIT AMERICAN'S RIGHTS! Think about that. Slavery, most all of you think that slavery was barbaric and horrible. Well passing an ammendment to limit gay marrage is just as wrong. They are still humans and americans. Why must we single them out and target them with so much hatred. I pray for the millions of gay/lesbian americans that Bush is not reelected for their Constitutional Rights Sake. Just think about that.
Now, that I've typed all of this up lets hear some of you Bush support. All I've heard is 'If you hate America then leave-Go Bush!' with no reasoning what so ever.
My vote (most of you cannot vote-haha) goes with Kerry all the way. And he has just choosen Edwards as his Running Mate-excellent choise for our future vice president.
Civil Rights. This is my
^Wow, never knew you had to have a religion to be the President now.
The way that Bush has screwed us up in Iraq, we are going to need a military force to enforce the law for the next 5 years.
Tell me a war that we DIDN'T have to keep troops in the country afterwards.
I think if Kerry is president (which he will be) he'll pull everyone out of iraq. Go Kerry!!!
If what you just said was true then Kerry would do exactly what Clinton did, except about 1000 times worse, for each soilder that has died so far in Iraq.
And pronounces words correctly.
Ever notice how much you guys use that against Bush? I think it's sad that you take advantage of him not being the best speaker so much. You don't see us making fun of your Kerry's botox treatments
