Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby SFGA 11 on July 1st, 2004, 1:11 pm
This was a last minute type of thing left house at about 5 and arrvied at 5:40.

Went to left side of park Superman had full queue so we skipped that same with Cajun and King Chaos was closed. It was hot so we decided to ride IMS. About a 15 minute wait. Nice ride, I like it much better than LR.
After that walked around a bit then went on AE blue. My last ride on blue wasnt too good, but it was definatly better than last time.

We skipped Revoultion because it almost had a full queue. Then we went to Demon. 15 minute wait. Front row. Good ride as always.

Then we went over to S;UF but it was still crowded so went on Condor and got a funnel cake. After that went on Sky Trek Tower to check out the lines. Then went to RB only about a 25 minute wait. Back row. Great ride.

Then we did Viper and Giant Drop to finish our day.

Notes: We didnt stay very long or get on many rides but it was still a fun day.
Rides closed: Triple Play, KC, V2, and Orbit was down for a little bit.

I took some pics also... http://community.webshots.com/user/robscoasterpics

I also went yesterday. Arrived at the park right at 10:00. Headed right to superman, but decided to skip it, so then headed to Cajun. Right before we tried to get in line, the op stood in front of the entrance, holding the temporary closed sign, so then I ran to Batman, where the line was right to the top of the stairs in the storm drain.

I was then suprised to see LR and ISM open at the same time, so I got in line for IMS, which was basically a walk-on to a boat. After being soaked, headed passed V2 only to see that it would not open today, so then headed to Wolf. I normally don't ride this coaster, but since the line was at the top of the stairs, why not take a spin.

AE was next. I was going to ride the blue side until I got in line and saw that it broke down, and one of the trains was stuck halfway up the lift, so then I went to the red side and waited 3 minutes.

Basically after that....

Demon (7 min wait)
Trailblazer (Walk-on)
lunch at McDonalds across the street
Raging Bull (25 min wait)
Cajun (1 hr 30 min. with a 25 min. breakdown)
Superman (1hr 45min.)
Bull again (25 min wait)
Viper (15 min wait)
Giant Drop (10 min. wait)
Viper again (10 min wait)
Whizzer (5 min. wait)

I was happy to see the Vu pretty much ran w/o trouble all day, although the line was quite long (one pointit was backed up past Farmer's Market)

Saw KC test once, and then didn't open up again (was at 1 pm)

There were some people doing something on TP earlier in the day, and they wern't SF ops/mechanics, I'd expect it to open soon.

I'm sorry but when Triple Play (a flat) isn't open by June 30th, you have to be a little mad. It never broke down last year, or the year before that, or the before that, and so on. Sure, parts do take awhile to get to the park, so why didn't they order them last year? They obviously knew that they were going to recondition it. East River Crawler was done right. It was even closed during Fright Fest because of the Elvis thing which was what they said.

This is where I have to give a hand to carnival workers. They can set up a ride in maybe three hours and take it down in even less time. Sure, it's not a carnival ride, but give me a break.

I wonder if SFGAm got a discount, buy two rides that don't work for one. (KC and TP)

I'm going to get mobbed for saying that.

How do they know what internal parts are shot a year ahead of time? they don't, you have no idea, it could have been parts that huss doesnt even carry anymore, that had to be machined out of raw metal, dont diss unless you know the facts

If SFGAm knew that KC was going to give them this much trouble they would have gotten something else. TP obviously isn't the #1 thing on SFGAm's mind right now. It's a flat, and a flat that isn't the most popular thing in the world. They are working on it but aren't going to halt other things that are going on in the park first.

Triple Play is the only thing down in the park daily right now, which is a big improvement from years before.

It was taken before the offseason. The mechanics couldn't check the ride out before they did the necessary work on it? Huss and SFGAm are great, but you can't always be siding or opposing with SF or Huss with everything they do. I would have more sympathy if the ride broke during the regular season and they didn't have time to get the parts.

You have to remember that the mechanics have to take every coaster train apart over the winter and rehaul them.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I was pretty angered at the fact that there were 6 ops in the cajun station, and only 3 were actually doing something. The others could have been training, but I doubt that becuase they were just standing around cracking jokes to each other and then went to clean the windows on the sides of the faux buildings (which looks quite real from visiting New Orleans this past year). It sucks when you have 3 ops trying to run 5 cars to the best of their ability when the others just do nothing to help.

in my opinion we still have flats/attractions that only run portions of the day. Why not stick these people on another ride that is useful for, instead of wasting their time doing nothing?

What doesn't run portions of the day? All the rides are open all day.
About Cajuns operators, you need a grouper, one at the back of the station at load that sends the car up, one in the middle that checks the lapbars, and one at panel. That's 4. Maybe if they have enough people they'll have another one standing there to push the car into position before it leaves the station. Theres really nothing to do when they have more people than to clean the windows.

Then why aren't they put on a ride that needs the help? (for capacity's sake)
