1st ever trip to SFGAM

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Tek on June 10th, 2004, 1:21 pm
Since my only visit to a Six Flags park has been my own home park of Kentucky Kingdom keep in mind that I did compare things while I was there.

1st thing that I noticed was the theming. SFGAM does a great job with its theme sections of the park and the coasters as well.

When we 1st arrived we watched the opening show and I had a huge smile on my face, we then started to walk around the park trying to get a feel on what to start off with 1st. Whizzer was closed so we headed over for the Demon. What a great coaster, my only complaint was that it was over way too soon. I rode this ride the most during my 2 day trip. It was always a walkon while the other rides had long lines. After this we decided to hit Logger's Run since it was quite warm out. Great log ride, we got soaked...I cant remember the last time I ever got that wet on a log flume. We then noticed that BTR had a long line so we skipped that and Ragin Cajun was closed and of course KC was still closed.

We then got on Fiddler's Fling and I've became very dizzy on that...so what better way to follow that up...than Revolution....yeahhhhh Too bad that 2nd part spun us around so much that I swore off of the spinning rides for the rest of the trip....Yes that means I never rode Ragin Cajun...SFKK has a wild mouse as well...and I dont enjoy that too much so I didnt feel like missing the long line nor the spinning was worth it.

After that we rode American Eagle-Blue, quite a few of the kids from the school groups that was there, jumped the line at this point.

Backwards seemed fine, but I rather try forward...luckily the next day they was running Red only and I got a forward ride on Eagle. Great ride, but what is with those trims, I mean why not just totally stop the ride at that point...also the ride could use some retracking...seems very rickity...maybe its just the paint job on it. It was also on my 2nd run on it that we was waiting for the 2nd row, when these kids from the back row seats was going to leave, but just hopped back on the train in the front row and our row. I looked at the kids that was waiting for the 1st row and motioned to the ride op that seemed to ignore me. The op that was checking the restraints noticed and even saw me looking over at him, but didnt do anything.

Line jumping....Reriding while others are in the row waiting....and I even saw a few riders that was smaller than the 5'4 requirement on certain rides go unchecked.

Anyways...so after the Eagle we headed over to SWT, wow...Raging Bull...whew....but it had a long line so we headed towards Viper...about a 30 minute wait....what a great coaster...wished I would have rerode this before I left, but never got around to it. Still perfer Thunder Run to Viper tho...

Then...Raging Bull....oh...if I could only take this home with me....I rode this about 3-4 times during my trip. What a great coaster...I mean the airtime on this is crazy....Sadly I experienced line jumping during this coaster...people holding spots...even right in front of the fast lane op

Oh well...great ride...wait about 30-40 mins....but seemed to go pretty quick with a 3 train operation...wow SFKK never does a two train let alone a 3 train op....but I noticed that during the day it went back to a 2 train op with only the yellow & teal trains running.

Giant Drop looked similar to the height of Hellevator at SFKK so I skipped that. We then walked back over and rode V2....WOW what a great ride...we loved this so much...I rode this atleast 3 times....We also ate at Mooseburger...which was good...alot of food even tho it was expensive. The 2nd day we ate at Grill in Mardis Gras...service was extremely slow...the outside of this place looked great but the inside could use some work. Atleast put up a better menu....I did notice workers doing some things to KC, I heard one of the air pressure pumps go off and only a few of the restraints went up...hmmm....looks nice tho...We finally got to ride BTR...great theming here...and the ride...whoa!! Even if SFKK did retheme T2 to this...there is no way it deserves that name...I mean your Batman hauled major ass!!

Deja Vu-45 minute wait....my g/f chickened out at the very end of our wait...she didnt like the idea of being hung on the towers during the ride...so I got a front row ride...wow what a awesome ride...would have rerode if the line wasnt so long both days....whew!!!

Whizzer-Great family ride...I loved the part where it hugged the ground....

Iron Wolf-Looks awesome...but wow what a headbanger...ouch....and I thought T2 was bad...hehe

We pretty much just walked around alot...taking pictures and riding a few rides here and there...We then finished our day with Superman...which was awesome...I rode in the backrow and those Gs thru the pretzel loop was nuts...

We then left the park around 7 due to my g/f being pretty worn out...

The 2nd day was pretty much the same...Sadly we left again early around 5 due to me being sunburned very bad and I got a blister on my foot...so if anyone saw a guy wearing a Discover Platinum Golf t-shirt or a Us Bank t-shirt hobblin around it was me

yeah I know...I drove 6 hours...many many miles and didnt ride everything 500 times...dont ask...I loved the park...the guests wasnt so great...but I definitely want to come back...

vuman...I missed you...I looked around the front for you, but no dice...sorry....

we was going to stop at KK on the way back home...but I decided to pass...

and if I seem to be complaining about lines...SFKK has spoiled me with the walk ons they always have anymore....I will post pics asap

Edit: I forgot to mention that we did watch all the shows...Top Speed was ok...but way too long and the Magic show was awesome...top notch for a theme park

I'm glad you liked SfGam! When I went to SfStl, I did a lot of comparing to SfGam. It's just instinct.

On the line jumping issue.... it seems like this is the only bad thing you ffound about SDGAm, I gaurantee you Gam has done everything within reason to prevent this, they cant help that they tell their employees to watch fo it, when unfortunatelky some employees dont have the balls to do anything about it. I gaurantee you if SFKK drew the crowds we did, they'd have the same problem.

As for eagle, the coaster is Pretty old, dont forget that.

Actually it's 54" which turns out to be only 4' 6", so it turns out that a lot of those kids you saw were probably tall enough.

Ever see that house that is literally 20 feet before the entrance to SFGAm on Grand Ave? As painful as it must be to always have so much nasty traffic it would be awesome to just say "Mom, I'm going to ride Raging Bull, be back in 45 minutes!"

I feel sorry for you having T2 as the Vekoma ride. That is dreadful! Luckily, you can ride the Chaos all day. How's Greezed Lightning (SFGAM Tidal Wave I Believe)? Good report, should've roughed it out, lines get shorter the later it gets.

Hey man sorry I missed ya. I think that I probly ended up going into the park before ya got there, sorry. Glad you liked the park tho. I still have not rode cagin, but I finally got to ride Rev, and holy cow, that thing is great. You just have to ride it when you are not already feeling bad.
Thats what I think!

Yeah Fiddler's Fling isnt a good warm up to Revy. Yeah I would def say that SFKK would have the same probs...even on light crowded days I've found the same probs here

Greezed Lightin is great, kinda bummed about not getting anything new...and still having the largest Six Flags lawn ornament, Quake...not operating...

why not take the thing out and replace it with a Top Spin or something...

I do plan to come back sometime...I already miss Vu, V2 & Ragin Bull.

I wish I did live up there, but atleast I only had to pay 39.99 for my season pass vs the 80 for yours...and our parking is 5.00 but atleast you guys have a actual enterance.

and yes...I wish death and deconstruction to T2...atleast tear it down and build another coaster there...it was great when it 1st open...but its way to painful....Then again it always has people willing to ride it...so what can you do...

And we have a water park...although I never check it out anymore...just becomes too crowded...instead of a wave of water, you get a wave of people...

I wish I did just rough it out...cause when I saw those storms come thru, I knew SFGAM would clear out some...

but you guys arent going anywhere...so I have to return...unless SFKK gets our own Deja Vu or V2...I mean come on...we could place V2 somewhere in the park...put it over the "damned bridge"

:(
