SfStl 5/29-5/30

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby DejaVu The Ride on May 31st, 2004, 6:04 pm
Day: Saturday, May 29
Weather:Sunny and hot
Time in park: 5 hours

We arrive to a slightly impressive sky line of SfStl and see what looks like a busy park. This is my first non SfGam six flags park and I had no idea what to expect.

We winded through the parking lot through a mess of cones. We then walked up to the park and was bombarded by insisting photo takers. Our first ride was,

Batman: The Ride. My friend and I walked through the mile or so queue line(which sucked badly) and walked on to the ride. It was running 2 trains. It was less intense than Great America's batman, but was still fun. 9/10

Next up, Ninja, which was a walk-on with 2 trains. I've heard negative reports about this ride, but I absolutely loved it, minus a few rough spots. The head chopper was great!(the lift hill chain) 8/10

We went up to River King mine train and thought it was rather rough. We waited about 5 minutes for it and was glad that was all.(also running 2 trains). The last drop was a nice surprise though. 6/10

We next waited 10 minutes for Tidal wave and got a nice soaking.(2 boats operating). 6/10

We next headed up to Screamin' Eagle and enjoyed a 5 minute wait for the front row. 2 trains operating. Pretty impressive air time. 7/10

Now we went up to the Boss and walked another mile throught the winding queue line for a 20 minute wait. 2 trains were running. This ride hurt before it even started. The first drop was great along with the other drop right after. Then it got rough, very rough. I really had to hold on and still got a beating. The drops were great(the breaks at the end too) but everything else lacked any mention. 5/10(worse than mean streak at Cedar Point).

Now I wanted to ride Mr.Freeze and did. It was a great ride with a great launch. When the rides went out in the station, it added a great touch. the theming was pretty well done. It was running 2 trains consistently. 10/10 for a 15 minute wait(front row).

We decided to go ride Batman and Ninja a few more times and call it a day and go home.

Day: Sunday, May 30
Weather: partly cloudly, then stormy and rainy(warm and humid all day)
Time in park: 5 and a half hours

The parkinlot was empty and we arrive eager for walk-ons. We also thought we would go to Hurricane Harbor, too. Just so you know everthing was virtuallywalk-on today and running 2 trains.

We rode batman twice and ninja once. Then we hit up river king mine train again. Then I wanted to ride Screamin' Eagle in the back and did. Much better here than in the front. Even better air time.

I rode Xcalibur and thought I got intense G's at the beginning then the ride became pretty boring. 7/10

Then i rode the Boss and got beat up again.(I like how the auto-speil tells you how you may never get loose articles back because of the terrain of the ride.) Then I went to ride Mr>Freeze 3 times in a row.(without getting out of my seat)

Now we rode the train around the park and had a nice time. Then the ride had an e-stop. Geese were on the track! The train blew its whistle but they wouldn't leave. Employees got sticks to try to scare them away, but they wouldn't leave after 10 minutes they slowly walked away after looking like they were goin to attack. Quite funny but almost scary because geese are protective of their young.

It was hot out so we went to chill at the waterpark. It had great theming. We only chilled at the eave pool the whole 2 hours we were there. Then they closed all the rides for an hours due to lightning in the area. We left to go back into the park ot ride some morew rides.

Mr.Freeze was closed,we rode Scooby Doo! Ghostblasters. This is one of the best time si have ever had on a ride. It also had decent capacity. The ride was just the bomb. It wasn't overly thrilling but just plain fun. You get to shoot tons of targets, have the theming move, get sprayed water from flowers, almost get hit by the mystery machine, and get blown with cold air. 10/10 We went around to ride again.

Then we rode Shazam! This ride was a blast. One of the best scrambler rides I have ever ridden. It puts Hometown Fun Machine to shame. It goes fast right away and doesn't waste anytime. Just a blast. 9/10

Right after we got off, it started pouring rain and stormed. Everything closed. The bad part is that they don't even put signs up saying it's closed. They either just close it with no sign of anything or put a garbage can in front of the ride. Also, i noticed Mr. Freeze had a black thingy going up the tower that was only there when it was closed, not when it was operating. I wonder what it was for.

Overall, the park had a beautiful setting and wasn't crowded at all. I like Great America and Cedar Point better, though. We also ate at Mooseburger lodge and somewhere else to get drinks(almost forgot to tell you all). I give the park a 7/10.

Thats great, I've always wanted to ride Mr.Freeze. Sounds like you had more fun on the flats though.

I love rides like Mr. Freeze and chiller. I have only been on chiller, but it has pretty much the same atmosphere because they are the same type of ride, and awesome queues made by warner brothers, not premier parks (six flags inc.) It sucks six flags doesnt give them a lot of new rides anymore. I think they shgould sell all of their parks except for the originals, and the hard-to-find good new ones so they chave money to spend on the original parks.

Hey DejaVu the Ride, how was the park overall? Was the theming better than great america? being an original six flags park, how was the landscaping?

Where did you ride on the Boss? I rode in back, and it was smoother than near the front. It was still rough, but not as bad as in the front.

The theming of the park is actually nice surrounded by some hills. The themed sections as a whole seemed kind of odd and didn't flow from one section to the next. I.g. You go from 1904 World's fair right into the Studio Backlot with Batman and the Jester. Then from there you go to Chouteau's Market, then to Gateway to the West(which was pretty much the best themed area). I liked it, but not nearly as much as the traditional theme park atmosphere that Great America has given me.

Also, Coasterfreek11, I rode in the second to last row and then the 4th row on the Boss. The front was smoother but not in any means smooth. Like I said, the drops were great but everything else was just too rough to actually be a great coaster. By the way, on the train ride, the ride op was telling everyone that it was a top rated coaster.

I rode in the backrow and the frontrow when I was there, huge difference. The backrow beat me right to heck, the front row only beat me halfway there 8)

The Boss is probably the worst wooden coaster I've ever been on. The other one that they have is the best in my opinion (Screamn' Eagle). Why can't SFGA tear AM E and put that. Mr. Freeze, there's nothing you can say bad about that. The Mine Train is rough, but its great. I love to go on that 10 times in a row.
