I know this may be a little early and probably not a top priority. But has anyone heard if SF are going to change the Batsign/Batmodile/Themeing/Etc. on the Batman Rides to match the new Batman movie?
I read somewhere that SFFT has put off putting a Batman flying coaster in until next year so they can put it in the "new" Batman style.
Most buisnesses operate on a model called ROIC: Return on Investment Capital. That means that any capital outlay has to be justified with increases in buisness. Changing the theming for Batman rides would be costly, and wouldn't generate any additional revenue. The only way I could see this happening is if the movie studio paid for it as a promotional tie-in (and with the exposure it would recieve, that might not be a bad idea on their part... sort of a 30 minute advertisement to a captive audience).
^that's kinda what i thought. the rumor i read about SFFT was that they put it off a year so they could open it around the same time as the movie. then both would benefit each other. SFFT would benefit from the movie promo. WB would benefit from the coaster promo. even when i posted this i didn't think they would re-theme old rides. it was just wishful thinking as a BM fanboy. but if they changed the theme on all betman rides. (incluing villians, even though they're not in the new movie, they could change them to the 'tone' of the new movie) and gave every park a new batmobile/gotham area, they could run a HUGE promotional blitz. but, as i write this and think about it, besides $ there is another big drawback. the new movie is supposed to be more "realistic" and alot less comic bookish. so that may not be good for someone in the theme park business since theme parks are basically comic bookish worlds anyway.
yeah, I'd say possible movie posters plastered here and there at most. Now if Time Warner was still in charge, then I'd have expected an all out theme blitz related to the movie
Favorite Wood Coasters: The Voyage, Ravine Flyer II, Thunderhead, Balder Favorite Steel: Voltron Nevera, Steel Vengeance, Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping Parks visited: 232, Coasters Ridden: Steel: 894, Wood: 179, Total: 1073
I think it's safe to say a lot of things would be different if Time Warner was still in charge, but we have Premier/Six Flags now, so nothing to worry about. Just the fact that ever since then they've been getting in billions of dollars in debt .
Thank god for good SFGAm park ops!
the old movies all had a similar "tone and feel" to them. this one is going to be completely differ. it is going to start the story all over and show us alot more of bruce wayne. he doesn't even put the suit on until halfway thru the movie. all the others were similar in tone and feel and were all in the same series. in this new one. EVERYTHING changes. the suit, the emblem, the batmobile. that it why i was wodering if any re-theming woul;d be done. the only problem (other than $) is that the new movie is supposed to look more realistic and less comic bookish than the old ones. that may be a problem because a theme park is a comic bookish place anyway, so they may wanna stay with the comic bookish batman theme
