Maxx Force NEW FOR 2019

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Some people think though this stuff WAY too much. Six Flags itself probably didn't spend as much time thinking about the 'type of racing' it was themed as you just did. For 99.9 percent of people, they'll just think it's racing themed (if they think of the theme at all) and leave it at that.

Quick thoughts on Maxx Force. THAT LAUNCH BOY. It literally takes your breath away. Unfortunately it loses a lot of speed going up the dog tounge. The barrel roll is fun and the last inversion is surprisingly good for going straight into the brake run. However, the loading is slow. We'll the (seating) is fine, but they have to wait for the previous train to park and unlock before they launch. The lines are going to be crazy.

That's why I wish they had an unload station or room enough for another brake and perhaps even another train and loading station but it is what it is. Do you think the loading/unloading was slow because it's the first day of any sort of real life operations and it's a new crew running it? That's at least what I'd hope.

is it like goliath where they have to pull it down? and anybody know why they do that?

No, you can do it yourself. I think the loading will be fine, as long as there aren't a lot of ppl storing bags. They REQUIRE you to keep your hands down during the launch. They even kicked some extras off for not listening.

How many times have you and others on average gotten to ride it so far? Where would you rank it among the other coasters at the park? I don't know how many other parks you've been to and other coasters elsewhere you have been on but how would it compare to other launch coasters? Despite the short ride time, does it feel satisfying? For example, I've been on Top Thrill Dragster and while I certainly wouldn't mind it having been longer, I never got off feeling like it wasn't enough because of the intensity of it. Did you feel that way after Maxx Force?

It depends on how lucky you are. I rode 7 times so far, but others have only gone once. Honestly, MF and TTD feel about the same intensity for the launch (obviously different acceleration). That feeling of being pinned to your seat is quite intense. Like I said, the first inversion takes away a lot of that momentum, but it really picks up once you come back down into the roll. For waiting in "line" for 15 minutes, it was satisfying. Not sure about 3 hour waits. To me, it was the same as Goliath, you can't stop smiling, but the ending comes up really fast. I would have loved if it ended with a loop or something.

I was able to get around 5 rides on Maxx Force today so I’m getting a good feel for the layout and ride experience. Here are my thoughts on the ride so far.

The launch: This is without a doubt the best part of the ride. This is the reason why Maxx Force stands out from the pack, and it is quite intense/forceful. Also from my observation, you don’t really notice the loud boom when on the launch track... at least from where I was sitting. I sat in the second to last row each ride.

The airtime hop: Probably the most underwhelming element on the ride but you do feel a little bit of air coming off of it.

The banana roll and drop: The banana roll gives you some great hang time. Some rides we powered through it, and others we stalled a little bit... both were great. The drop afterward is also a lot of fun.

Worlds fastest inversion: Whippy, but not painful whatsoever. Have you ever heard of inverted airtime? I think that’s the best way I would describe this element. You have to experience it for yourself to really understand what I mean.

The final inversion: The biggest surprise for me. You get some inverted and sideways airtime, and it’s a super unique element that I’ve never experienced before. Probably my second favorite part of the ride.

The brake run: Brakes really start to kick in halfway down the dive loop. The stop is abrupt, you will be up against your restraint bracing, but it isn’t painful in any sort of way.

The restraints and seats: Very comfortable and seem quite accommodating. There is also a seat belt but it doesn’t interfere with the ride experience. I am skinnier than most, so I was able to get quite a bit of area between the lap bar and my stomach, but from what I’ve seen I don’t think too many individuals will get turned away. While the seats don’t look like they have much padding when you first take a look at them, they are surprisingly quite comfortable. Overall, the trains are great.

Surrounding area: One thing to take into account is that one of the biggest wow-factors of Maxx Force is how it can interact with the train. While I can’t speak on that due to the fact that the train most likely will not open this year, I can already tell that it will add another thrilling element to make this coaster even better. However, without the train this ride is still great, and grass has been planted on the dirt mound to make the surrounding area look cleaner. I’m hoping they add some trees like in the animation because that would add to the experience even more.

Overall thoughts: Maxx Force is intense, butter smooth and a ton of fun. At this time, it’s my favorite ride in the park. I’ve ridden quite a few launch coasters and this one far and away has the best launch, I am still going back and forth to see if I would rank it above Dragster. The most interesting part is that this ride grew on me. The first and second rides were good, the third ride was great and the fourth/fifth were amazing. The lines are gonna be long for this one and yes it’s a short ride, but I’m telling you that launch in and of itself is worth the trip. I do wish it was longer *sigh* but it’s still one of the best launch coasters I’ve ridden... A pure shot of adrenaline. Check out Maxx Force this week and just go into it looking to have fun, that’s what this ride is all about.

If you have any other questions, I’ll try to answer them to the best of my ability.

I want get out to riding it this week. But if the weather keeps acting up like it currently is, I may have to painfully wait until next week. I really want to ride it now that people have said it's one of their favorite launch coasters. That actually surprises me the most. And the inverted airtime is a thing with zero g rolls. It feels great. I think the best zero g roll I have been on to this point is Montu at Busch Gardens.

The step-up before the dog tongue is merely to give clearance to the exit of the element. It was never meant to be an airtime hill.
So, keep that in mind when riding Maxx Force.

^ Thank you. A lot of people seem to be asking "Where's the airtime hill?" on the pov video of Maxx. It never really was a hill, but a step up.

K so i rode Maxx Force 6 times today. That launch is a tool of the devil, not for the faint of heart, :twisted: but after the launch releases the train it's pure fun with a bit of hangtime and some slight "airtime" feelings here and there. I didn't really notice much air on the speed bump/step-up, but I still wish they would have utilized more of the plot of land to make it more of a journey instead of being basically a linear design whose main objective seems to be to blast you back to the station as quickly as possible. It's was good though, I just left wanting a little more especially with the speed it generates.

There are hardly any pics/vids of this thing from today. Anywhere. When we did Goliath & Joker, it was allll over Instagram. Y’all suck. Lol ;) I’m glad to hear the positive reviews & the cons I’m reading are all things we called months ago so it seems we have a solid addition here. I can’t wait for Sunday!

The station and surrounding area still needs a lot of work. The first queue block needs railing, and the shade covering is not installed. The station is mostly unpainted. It was put together enough to ride, but it wasn't pretty. The paint that was on there was really sloppy. The blue panels look really out of place and don't look like they will be painted over. There also looked like there was no footer for racing lights or a sound system for the launch.

You'd think they would want everything finished and looking good before shooting a commercial.... But i guess if you just keep the camera pointed skyward you avoid seeing all of the dirt and patchy grass
