Hmm... I'm surprised that they let the word out about fires to the public. I heard something about Great America covering up when there are problems on rides and taking them down later that year. I guess that could have just been a rumor, or irrelevant hearsay. *cough* shockwave *cough*

Well of course they aren't going to go and make public announcements about bad things that happen! "Hey, everyone! There were a few fires this week that risked the lives of our guests! It's ok though. You probably won't die!"

I could find out more about the ride. When I go for training they have arearial photos of the park from when it opened till now. So I will try to look for it in the maps!

It's not how high or how fast you build the roller coaster it's how smooth you build it!

I might have a clue about that coaster. First I need to know has anyone here seen a ride there (Sfgam) that had ladybug cars?

Here is an ACE article about the Gulf Coaster(PGA park). You will need Acrobat to read it. Scroll down to the second article.

Rather interesting Chitown, lots of information. Sounds like a fun ride, something I would enjoy, especially the slapping of the hands with the operator as the train goes by. It reminds me of a kiddie coaster at a small park close to home.
