It has to be a dc themed area replacing mardi gras area. Last year the planning survey I took was about a dark ride and we got justice league this year. This year before the season started the planning survey I got was about a giant frisbee so it makes sense to me that's what's coming. There is no was we'd get a $25million dollar B&M coaster after a huge investment his year. Also picnic grove would not be torn down because they use it too much and it brings revenue into the park for them. At least that's my thought....
Not complaining, but I think it would be greedy of SFGAm to receive another B&M since the addition of X-Flight. Other parks could use a B&M more than we do. But I wouldn't turn down a new B&M
^ Exactly. If any Six Flags park should receive a B&M, it's Six Flags Over Texas. The 4th most popular Six Flags park, and they haven't received a coaster since 2011.
When I look at this view on Bing maps..... I could totally see them putting a Sky Screamer in Orbits plot of land, and building the Entrance and Q in the old Sky Trail spot (Along with a gift shop exit of course) I'm still not convinced that the Orbit is actually leaving the park! Sure, They might dismantle it, and use it's plot of land along with Sky Trails for a new ride.... But they might simply relocate it to another area in the park, like they did with Ricochet (Big Top) Hell, maybe we'll even see a return of Orleans Orbit (I can dream can't I, lol)
Ugh people actually want a Zamperla Endeavour? It's an ugly piece of $#!T sure the lighting is cool but buy a new Enterprise and get the multi color LED. I can already tell that Zamperla garbage is not fluffy friendly. Remove Chaos put your Bs Superloop there. Leave Crawler where it is new Enterprise in Orbits spot. And a definite no to that Sky Screamer junk. What is the big draw of a big stupid swing. Not to mention Whirligig is a much nicer and esthetically pleasing ride.
*edit I apologize for making anyone upset or mad. I certainly do not wish anyone death on a ride. That part of the post was written out of anger and frustration. I just feel that being 200+ feet up supported by chains is a beyond bad idea. There is something that just bothers me about Sky Screamers. My mother said she didn't like King Chaos years ago and it took me nearly 10 years to discover what she meant by seeing the ride shake violently while it was flipping upside down. I thought it was an optical illusion but no it was shaking like a leaf. It is because I love our park so much that I don't want to see them have a potential liability that would be disasterous enough to completely shut the park down. Again I am truthfully sorry.

Not many things I read have the ability to piss me off but, your post sure the hell did. You wish a death upon someone on a ride?! That is the greatest of all trash I've read on this forum. For those of us who truly love this industry, an accident like that turns our stomachs every time. A theme park is where we go to escape reality or to feel happy & at ease. An incident let alone a death effects a lot of people & I would never wish that on anyone, especially on a ride someone is clearly riding to enjoy themselves. Not to get hurt. Take your garbage opinion elsewhere.
If Six Flags knew these rides weren't safe, they wouldn't install them. I mean, they might close them 3 months before the season ends without telling anybody. (Sorry, had to.)
So I guess I believe the Orbit leaving rumor, just because people are so sure about it, and because it makes sense that employees would know about it because they'd know if they were working the ride or not. But what I'm much less confident about is the part about the ERC moving to replace it. That wouldn't happen until next season, so why would they have told employees about it now? For that matter, how does it make any sense at all that they had to close both rides in August? Even if they're doing a big construction project in one of the areas, are they doing things in BOTH areas? Or, as I cynically think, are they just trying to save money by closing rides early?
Viper 88 wrote:...personally I can't wait for the first accident on a Sky Screamer and I'm not talking getting stuck I'm talking death because of the extreme wear on the little chains that are holding you up 200 ft, anyone ever think of that?...
I can expect to see a teaser video today! I think it will involve the rides that are leaving the park, so I could see orbit, erc and jester in it. And if picnic grove is true, I could also see that. Or a cliche teaser (aka pull a SFFT) and take a picture right by one of the pink markers at picnic grove on instagram, captioned something like "just chillin"
I really hope we don't get this "rumored" Gotham City area. They should turn Mardi Gras into a Chicago themed area...maybe call it Chicagoland? Replace Big Easy Balloons with a Larson Flying Scooters called Windy City Flyers, replace Jesters with a Larson Tilt-A-Whirl called Spinsanity, and put in a Larson Super Loop in RC's former spot called Chicago Fireball. Then repaint King Chaos to look less Mardi Gras themed and more Chicago themed. They also can fix up Roaring Rapids a little bit.
Personally, I hope they don't bother to retheme anything. It's Six Flags, they wouldn't do a good job of it anyway, just save the money for better rides...

I did make that up, maybe someone watching the forums will use it on the gravestone at the Six Flags Cemetery. Also please see my apology in my previous post.
I was actually thinking we could use a B&M dive coaster as well! Something awesome like Sheikra or Valravn. They could make one that's just a tad bit taller than Valravn to have the tallest dive coaster with tallest drop, etc. I'm still also holding out hope for a 300 FT B&M and also a version of Mr. Freeze (that will probably never happen though because we already have a launched ride - V2)
I think I've seen the light now and I'm OK with the removal of the 2 flume rides if that happens. They are a bit boring (although very relaxing break from all the big coasters) due to zero theming. Plus, they're tying up valuable space! As long as they keep Rapids and Buc Battle. I still won't cry if Eagle does come down though.
As for Orbit, it had its time and place. It's 40 years old!! I rode an open style version of Orbit in Texas and it was way better because you weren't suffocating in a gondola. I'll be more sad if Whizzer or Demon ever come down. But Demon is getting pretty old as well and it's almost always a walk on. Hometown Fun Machine can go as well. It takes WAY too long for loading and unloading that ride. Fiddler's Fling is a way better ride.
As for the Sky Screamer, it's a fun ride! I rode the big one in Texas and it was amazing. The only problem was that it shut down for periods due to high winds up near the top, as did the Oil Derrick. I'm surprised that Sky Trek isn't closed more often for wind (or is it??)
BTW, has anyone ridden Lightning Rod in Dollywood?? It looks interesting with his launch up the lift hill and 'dipsy do' before the first drop.
Single Day Ride Count Record
50 rides 8/17/2018 (Without Flash Pass - Coasters After Dark)
If you're guessing new rides, keep in mind that anything over 200 feet (or 125 in some areas) requires approval from the village, and they always (I think?) do that before the announcement, which means it would have to happen really soon if it was happening. The only planned meeting of the planning board before the announcement is August 17th, so if something over 200 feet was happening we'd be seeing a public hearing sign real soon...
The entire picnic grove is 500+ feet away from a residential area so 200 feet would be the limit before having to get an approval. If you would like to check the distance yourself you could do so in Google Maps with measuring get distance.

They are public meetings. Unless this also changed as part of the height change, they would have posted signs in front of the park saying there was a hearing. I doubt anybody with the village is dumb enough to risk violating public meeting laws just to keep a secret for Six Flags.
