According to a representative from SFGAm, "The Gold Dining pass also includes a 20% discount on merchandise." The following PDF also references a 20% discount on shopping:
So I picked up my season pass today at the turnstiles. How do I know if the pass was actually upgraded to Gold and that I have free parking? I registered my pass on the website and it says the pass type is "Season Pass." Shouldn't it be "Gold Pass?" I'm just worried that it didn't work or something.

Did your voucher say it was gold? If so, I wouldn't worry about it. I got my 2016 pass activated Labor Day weekend and used it today to park no problem, and it doesn't say "Gold" on the web...
Yeah the voucher says gold and I did all what the voucher said to do which is just to pick it up at the turnstiles. So I should be good to go. That makes me feel better though that yours doesn't say gold on the web either. Thanks!
I tried to use my new Gold Dining Pass today to buy a shirt at Thrillseekers. The girl there said my Dining pass couldn't be used to buy merchandise. I asked her to contact her supervisor, who confirmed the same.
On the way out, I stopped by the Activation Center and spoke with the lead supervisor there. She told me the Gold Dining Pass is new and affirmed that it included a 20% discount on merchandise. The Deluxe Dining Pass will still exist, but all Deluxe passes purchased since Labor day are automatically being upgraded to Gold. When this current sale expires, Deluxe Dining Pass holders will be able to get the discount by purchasing the Season Shopping Pass for $10 more.
I think this is where there has been confusion. Gold passes are new and include the merchandise discount. Deluxe Dining passes will not include the discount, but for $10 more, you can buy a Season Shopping Pass.

Going to the park Saturday to activate my season pass, and my dad asked an interesting question. What about my 2015 season pass? More specifically, can I still use my 2015 dining pass and get double the food? (not that I need more food, but I could get some for my family and friends)

You should be able to "double dip" so to speak... You would just need to enter the park, exit, then enter again, using your other pass...
I've seen this posted several times on other message boards... So do take this with a grain of salt, as I have not personally done it...
I'm going to buy season passes for my family (me, wife, son). Since we'll always be going together I should only need to buy one gold pass and 2 regular season passes to take advantage of parking for the season, correct ?

If parking is your only concern, then yes, one Gold Pass combined with two Season Passes would be sufficient.

I believe that parking is a free add-on for passes purchased now... So you may be ok with the regular passes... Only reason to upgrade to a Gold Pass would be if you want to visit other Six Flags parks...

Regular passes are also good at all Six Flags parks, no need to get Gold for that.
To the original poster, they're not currently doing free parking upgrades for single passes, but you do get upgraded to Gold if you get 4 (if you activate the passes during Fright Fest). Single Gold passes are insanely expensive, it would actually be cheaper for you (not joking) to buy 4 Gold passes then it would be to buy 2 regular and 1 Gold. Either do that and just not use the fourth, or find somebody else who wants one and just buy them together, I often buy passes for my family and other friends, there's no downside that I know of to buying a pass for a person you just kinda know (assuming they pay you, of course).
We're trying to find an extra person to get a season pass, but we know a lot of wishy-washy and non-committed types...LOL. It's my own fault...should've jumped on the Labor Day sale when you didn't have to buy 4 passes.

At of today, I'm in agreement with anewman35. Regardless of whether you can find a fourth person, it'll cost you $296 for one Gold Pass and two Season Passes, but only $260 for four Gold Passes.
Alternately, you might get better prices next May. Last May, one Gold Pass and two Season Passes would have cost you $258; I suspect four Gold Passes would have been even less.
I think we're just going to get 4 passes. I have a couple questions maybe one of you can answer:
Does the 4th pass have to be activated at the same time as the other 3 ? Does it have to be activated by November 1st ? We're still not sure if your 4th person will be able to go with us on Sunday ? I just want to avoid some nightmare scenario where I'm told at the gate that I need the 4th person there to activate our passes.
Worst case scenario I'll just 'eat' the 4th pass since buying 4 is actually cheaper than buying 3. Will Six Flags object to this ?
Thanks for all your help...I just want to get the best price and everything line up before the sale is over

That's great news...especially since I bought the passes just minutes ago
We'll be making our return to the park for the first time in 13 years on Sunday ! It will also be my 5 yr old sons first trip there...I couldn't be more excited !!
I feel like I'm going a bit crazy, but I thought when we purchased season passes for 2016 there was a mention of getting early access to the park. I can't find that anywhere on the site for Great America. I see it for other parks, but not listed on Great America's site. Am I going crazy?
I got the Six Flags app recently and put my family's season passes on it. Really convienent, just hope they add wait times! Although I recall that Six Flags said they were working on that, no?

There in the app already but you can only access them when your in the park.
I don't think I ever had season passes when they had early entry for the season passes. I was really hoping it would be consistent. I did some google searches and there were some articles written for Magic Mountain in regards to it, but that park may be a bit more organized than Great America.
Maybe I will get the discover card. I hate waiting in those long security lines outside of the gate. That will hopefully at least expedite getting into the park. However, having the Hurricane Harbor entrance until 12:30 really makes things go quicker! Not using the finger scanners and just having season passes going through makes life easier!
