Fright Fest 2015

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Jackluver18 on September 21st, 2015, 11:59 am
I'm anxious to see how the clowns do in County and the demons do in Mardi. Now it sounds like the demons are gonna be overrunning Mardi and Orleans...even though I heard Orleans was gonna be a scarefree zone. I hope Gates of Hell and Apocalypse are good. I'm looking forward to my favorites again of MMC and Manslaughter. Can't wait for Saturday to finally get here.

Going to the park on Coulmbus Day, what do you think I should expect with the crowds? I have school off, but I got some friends that don't. Just how many kids actually have the day off? Even if they did, would they wanna go on that Monday? I really don't care about the size of crowds (at SFGAm) ever, but I'm interested in how it'll play out Columbus Day.

I'd say it'll be an average day. I wouldn't expect Halloween crowds or anything, but expect it to be fairly crowded.

But I don't know about you, this may just be me, but Fright Fest is just time to ride coasters for me :P I don't necessarily look forward to fright fest, I look forward to riding the rides more. Although I do like the music, and I like seeing others being harassed by the scare actors. They don't really mess with me, I think that's because I'm at least half a foot taller than majority of them. If anything, Fright Fest is a sad time for me because that means the season is almost over :'(. And sometimes, the weather can just get plain harsh. I've ridden Raging Bull in a light hail before, fun but painful.

This is pretty much how I feel. Thanks for saving me the time of typing it all. :P

It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle :?
Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? :P

I believe so too. I wonder if they will just have a haunted house or if they will have a walk through like necropolis.

Can we please look at the Fright Fest website before asking questions?

https://frightfest.sixflags.com/greatam ... ryModal574

This complex will not just be composed of one haunted attraction, no, but six. All these experiences bring you to the House of Torment, Nox’s home.

https://www.sixflags.com/sites/default/ ... 1428539133

Located in Mardi Gras

This, combined with the description seems to clearly indicate Gates of Hell is a large section of the Picnic Grove (entering through Ragin' Cajun like Necropolis did last year).

It is safe to assume the House of Torment is the former Mausoleum. There is no free walk through. That is clear. The only question is what happens between the six houses and whether you have to go through all six (and in the same order) every time.

I hope there will be a free walk through that just hasn't been announced yet. While the Bermuda Triangle walk through last year was not the best, it gave something to do. However I'm really interested in the boo line because I never got a chance to do it in previous years

The Boo Line will be free, as will be Shipwreck of Horrors. They don't say they require an additional fee on the FF page.

I don't think shipwreck of horrors is a walk through but instead just the hurricane harbor scare zone but it could still include the lazy river walk through

Any guesses on crowd levels this weekend?
Fright Fest tends to get busier the closer to Halloween but nice weather should bring people out, correct?

The different "houses" are probably just the picnic pavillions.

Ditto, except for the past couple or seasons, September/October has been the beginning of my SFGAm season (as well as end)- though I get the feeling that the operating calendar used to have more colored squares on it in non-peak season months.

The next time I take in a maze or haunted house will be the first. Riding coasters in an October chill is something special, however, and reason enough to endure a stupidly crowded park for me.

Yes and yes. My guess would be busy, but not insanely busy like you get nearer to Halloween.

Basically everything, since nothing's really the same as last year. But I'm most curious to hear exactly how the Gates of Hell is set up.

Same. I read that it is supposed to take about 20 minutes to walk through.

^ If you want to be surprised, don't click on this topic again until after you've been to Fright Fest. Some of us want details.
