And if that's true, that makes everything about that disaster of a show even worse. To spend all that money on a show for one season and completely destroy Hometown Square . . . . MORONS. All of them. Morons

Eagle hasn't run 3 trains per side since 1985 or so. Maybe they tried again around 1988? It's all a little fuzzy. After the accident (collision in station during rain, right when Six Flags took over in 84 or 85), they didn't want to run 3 trains anymore.
Not to mention they regularly stack 2 trains nowadays... so 3 would be a complete waste of time (unless Holiday World or Cedar Point was running the ride, then it would work well).
I remember the early days of the Eagle; when you would look at the lift from anywhere in the park, there would ALWAYS be 2 trains going up... and the queue never stopped moving.
As for the flumes, they both had their 2nd chutes (drops) welded off years ago; it's been like 15 years or something? Harder to run it to capacity with out those extra run-outs. It's a legitimate squabble, but at the end of the day I'm VERY grateful we still have both our flumes And Eagle, for that matter.
Thank you coasterdemon for actually making sense. You are completely right about the flumes. They have less boats because they don't use the second chutes and the Eagle does have something to do with a collison and just the general safety of the ride. Keep in mind that mechanics behind how rides operate have changed substantially. You can only have one train on the ride course at once if there is not a block break section!

And that I will completely agree with. The park may be poorly run for investing in a show and ripping up Hometown for a one year thing. That was always my biggest problem.

This is just a guess, but I suspect (from quotes I recall the park giving at the time, although I can't find them right now) that both things are sort of true - maybe the actual igNight show was only planned for one year, but some of the upgrades in sound and lights and etc would be used long term. I don't know if that plan changed at all (I'll admit that it seems weird to take down the Gazebo and then rebuild it), but I'm pretty sure that they are still using a lot of the lights and speakers they originally installed for igNight, so by that measure it wasn't a totally wasted investment.

What do you mean by drops "welded off"? There are still 2 drops for both YC and LR. Did you just mean they welded them shut or something?
Maybe I'm crazy, but I swear I remember both drops being used when I was a child. Though I don't rember how it worked at the bottom. I just remember one holding until the other cleared or something.
It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? (Sorry in advance for unnecessary commas and parenthesis every where)
The announcements have been on Thursdays for the past several years now. Clues for the last 3 years at least have come out on Thursday. This year's announcement is supposedly September 3rd so that gives us 4 teasers starting tomorrow if they follow same as previous years.
I'll be at the park sunday. But yeah, apparently Guinness World Record Announcement on National Roller-coaster Day. (Aug 16th) and a New Attraction announcement on the 3rd of September.

haven't seen anything... and the truth is starting to hit me. maybe we won't get something major or even semi-decent this year, as teasers are not appearing. it's probably just me though so don't hold me accountable!!

They've done teasers for a bunch of years that had underwhelming things (this year, igNight), so I'm not sure there's any connection. Maybe they're just going to do something different or start later. Didn't the guy who did a lot of this stuff leave a year or two ago? Maybe the guy in charge now wants to try something new?
Maybe we were going to get a Larson Loop as a Bourbon Street Fireball in Mardi Gras and since the issues with the loops this year they scrapped it and are throwing together something else last minute and don't have the marketing team up to speed yet?
Or they were going Justice League Dark ride and with all the problems St. Louis has had with theirs again things are being rethought???
Personally I'd be happy if they announced that next year they will hire their staff before the park opens for the year and actually train them. (and find a fix for whatever reason every time I'm at the park Goliath can't make it the whole day without shutting down at some point)
Wish the announcement was going to be better food quality, speed of service and much lower prices on the piss poor quality food and service that exists now.
