Well, yeah, everyone likes warm and sunny days. But, that's the problem - EVERYONE likes warm and sunny days. Sometimes it's worth putting up with a lesser day to get an empty park...
Not for those that go only once or twice a year. If you go a lot sure you can spend a cold day in the park with no lines. I am not willing to do that when I know how much I have to wait all year to go back. I want it to be perfect as much as possible.

I actually hate going on warm and sunny days. Why stand in a hot line surrounded by the ghetto trash that has frequented the park lately when I can go on a cold day and not have to wait.

I'm with you on that. Going with the people I go with I have to make sure the weather isn't too hot because one person can't handle the heat. Granted I am not a big fan of heat, but I love water rides so as long as it's in the 80's im riding up to 85 then it becomes too much for my party member. Btw love your signature.
For further evidence that Great America doesn't really think things through, they were offering double rides on AE Blue today...with one train. The Red side, which was not offering double rides, had two trains running. I'm confident that those waiting for the double rides for AE Blue, it was their longest wait of the day. SF's operations decisions like this are really confusing and show a complete lack of common logistical understanding.
And a more general Hurricane Harbor question: does anybody else think the way they charge non-season pass holders is kind of insane? Most of the time, water parks cost less than theme parks, or they're just included in the price of a theme park. But the way our park is now, it actually costs people MORE for the water park (because they have to pay to get in, and then pay again for the water park). Are there any other parks (Six Flags or otherwise) that force you to buy both a theme park ticket and an additional water park ticket if you just want to go to the water park? Is this just a ploy to try to sell more season passes (and if so, why don't they try it at other parks?)

Legoland charges $10 plus to go to the Waterpark and I would argue Riptide Bay alone is larger. Plus because they upcharged the Waterpark, Lines are much shorter.
anewman35 wrote:Anybody know, if a passholder goes to Hurricane Harbor do they just scan the pass or do they make you do the fingerprint thing again?
They just scan your pass.
Side note, when we went through Hurricane Harbor to access the park (until 12:30 it's a season pass holder entrance) they just scanned your pass. There was no finger print readers even in the area. Not sure if this is the norm or not, but it made the lines so much more manageable!
Heading to the park Tuesday for the first time since Advocate Day. I have two questions. One, can I still bring a friend free if my season pass hasn't been processed yet? It's bring a friend free day every weekday, however I havnt been at the park yet to process my pass. Second, what coaster of the week will it be? Will it still be Viper? Or does it work a different way? I wasn't sure where to post this so I just posted it here
They've posted a list of Coasters of the Week now:
Ride Festival Schedule Weekend of May 29 – BATMAN: The Ride Week of June 1 – Viper Week of June 8 – Vertical Velocity Week of June 15 – THE DARK KNIGHT Week of June 22 – Goliath Week of June 29 – X Flight Week of July 6 – Raging Bull Week of July 13 – SUPERMAN Ultimate Flight Week of July 20 – American Eagle Week of July 27 – Whizzer Week of August 3 – Demon Week of August 10 – Roaring Rapids Week of August 17 – Giant Drop
So whatever happened to all the other stuff that was supposed to happen during the "ride festivals"? Decorations, street teams, Firework Fridays, throwback thursdays...doesn't seem like anything they said would happen is besides the double rides.
So, I was at the park on Tuesday. I got there at 2:30 and stayed til close. The overflow lot was used but just barely and the lines were pretty short all day.
My first instinct: Park operations was HORRENDOUS. The efficiency of the coasters was horrible. Crew was very slow and didn't move with urgency. Apparently, this is due to not having enough staff. During our second ride of Eagle, they had to lock and unlock the restraints 3x before sending the ride and each time was just after they had checked them all. We waited an hour to get our double ride of Eagle which is like waiting 30 minutes, which is NOT BAD considering its still one train. I can imagine how it could be a bit harder to manager the double rides with a two train operation
Hometown Square LOOKS MUCH BETTER. While not fully back to normal, it's better than it looked with igNite. Glad to see the gazebo and flag.
Revolution was closed due to "maintenance" but I think it was because of a lack of staffing.
V2 was double ride of the week but didn't go near it. Capacity is horrible without double rides. Must have been worse with double rides even in last hour.
The train did not have the voiceover describing things. The green sports bottles are an amazing deal and like the concept of a season shopping pass too.
I like that they have an app but sucks that you need ios 8 to use it.
Soccer thing in County Fair looks out of place. screams and dreams advertised in pictorium again.
Second blue train for Eagle had water dummies and was on transfer...bull third train is on transfer but isnt used much due to staffing.
Batman looked nice with its painting. Didnt go on SUF or Demon. Drop had one car not in use.
XFlight had one of the shortest lines Ive seen in a while. None of the elements were working as usual.

HA! This is honestly ridiculous. I hate complaining about my home park but it just just seems less and less appealing to actually visit as time goes bye! That's not a great thing especially when Goliath is most likely going to be closed the entire summer. This is definitely a low point for the park.

^ Not sure whats so ridiculous about it. It clearly won't be open by Monday, so they just swapped it's week with Demons. Shouldn't that be a good thing as it's at least a sign they anticipate it reopening sometime this year?
Yes... and no. It's good that they anticipate it reopening at all, but August is awfully late. That means going another two months without my favorite coaster.
It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? (Sorry in advance for unnecessary commas and parenthesis every where)
Just because they are holding off Goliath's 2x rides week until August doesn't mean the ride won't be open until then. There is no evidence to suggest that. Perhaps they wanted to keep the other ride days in tack and Demon (not being very popular to begin with) was an easier to flip. Just sayin. I would be surprised if Goliath isn't open until August.

I think it's ridiculous because it's an indicator that the ride will be closed for a while. It's the park's main attraction and a lot of people come to the park specifically to ride it!
