Nine free scare zones and six haunted walk-throughs

After 6 p.m.on Saturdays and 5 p.m. on Sundays, our chilling Fright by Night attractions come to life. As you tiptoe through our scare zones and creep around our haunted mazes, keep an eye out for all the monsters lurking in the darkness. Here’s an overview of this year’s haunted attractions.

Fear – New! – Additional Fee Required. (Bermuda Triangle)
Come face-to-face with your worst fears. Wander through the halls to test your limits, and you’ll be stalked around every twisting corner by sinister creatures and killer beasts. Move quickly to avoid becoming the next victim.

The Last Stop: Burn ‘Em and Buried Circus – Free. (Mardi Gras)
This nightmare circus turns laughs into screams. Killer clowns and maniacal jesters run wild through the area, looking for guests to intimidate. You’ll meet some of the most grotesque freak show mutants you’ve ever seen, with unnatural talents and bizarre oddities.

Necropolis – Free Walk-Through. (Picnic Grove)
Mysterious blood-thirsty monsters haunt this free walk-through. They hide in the shadows, while their cold eyes and creepy grins eerily glow under the moonlight. The evil figures lurk in the shadows and watch your every move, waiting to wreak havoc and find their next meal.

The Abyss, presented by M&M's®– Additional Fee Required. (Bermuda Triangle)
Travel deep into the center of the Bermuda Triangle and meet the lost souls who have never escaped. You’ll pass abandoned planes and ships, and cross dead pilots, zombie captains, raging crew members, and mysterious sea creatures waiting to trap you inside this dangerous zone.

Bermuda Triangle – Free. (Hurricane Harbor)
Dare to cross into this nautical zone to meet zombie sailors, dead ship captains, vengeful pilots, and other grave spirits that are hoping to suck you in to their suffering. You may also bump into a few human-eating mythical creatures lurking in the darkness, including devilish demons, sea monsters, killer mermaids, and merciless aliens.

Purgatory Plaza – Free. (Carousel Plaza)
Upon entering the park, classic Halloween characters become your worst nightmare. Make your way through an imaginative world that’s bursting with the veterans of scare, including creepy Dracula, oversized spooky pumpkin men, and evil witches.

Mausoleum of Terror – Additional Fee Required. (Necropolis)
Zombies lurk in the shadows of this haunted house. When night falls, the brain-sucking monsters come to life, searching for new human brains to feast on. Enter this deadly factory at your own risk and see if you can make it out alive.

Grim Hollow – Free. (County Fair games area)
This section of the park has been overthrown by the evil characters of the farmland. Venture into the cornfields while being stalked by killer scarecrows, vicious farmers, and larger-than-life deadly crows.

Skull Valley – Free. (SWT around gallows)
This abandoned ghost town is eerily quiet, yet filled with phantoms hiding in the darkness. The undead ghosts, ghouls, and skeletons have risen from their burials and creep around the dark graveyard, ready to put unsuspecting trespassers in the ground.

Manslaughter Manor, presented by göt2b –Additional Fee Required. (Skull Valley)
As you explore the haunted dusty rooms of the abandoned mansion, beware of the gory ghosts of homeowners past. This team of vengeful ghouls has risen from the dead to haunt, trap, and terrorize uninvited guests.

Deadwood Grove – Free. (Yukon Territory)
If you dare to cross into the abandoned woods, you’ll see chopped tree stumps and hear painful shrieks of terror. The lumberjacks scavenge the area with their bloody chainsaws, and anyone that gets in their way will surely be sliced to pieces.

Massacre Medical Center – Additional Fee Required. (Grim Hollow)
Experience the terror and insanity of this crazed asylum. Creep through the dismal halls filled with demented doctors, disfigured nurses, irrational patients, and deranged guards and try to escape their lunatic practices.

Seven Sins Cemetery – Free. (Back of Orleans Place)
Travel through this haunted graveyard as you explore dirty tombstones, scratched coffins, empty graves, and other cemetery horrors. Possessed inhabitants hide out around the area to spread their practices of human sacrifice.

Wicked Woods – Additional Fee Required. (Roaring Rapids)
These trees are inhabited by possessed phantoms that hide out in the dark shadows. Wander the eerie wooded area and find your way through the tangled trees, but watch out for the ghastly eyes glowing in the darkness that are waiting to sneak out and tear you to pieces.

Sector 7 – Free. (Hometown Square)
Hungry distorted zombies have risen from the dead to terrorize the streets of the park. Cross into their territory, but watch out for the human-eaters hiding in the dark shadows. They run rampant through the area, searching for new human brains to infect.

Port Dread – Free. (Yankee Harbor)
Evil pirate ghosts, ghoulish captains, and restless sailors roam this themed area to haunt the remains of their decayed shipwreck. These murderous souls are willing to toss innocent victims overboard to feed to the deadly sea.

Short Version - Total Darkness replaced by Fear and no more Hellmouth.

I'll edit the post with details about shows and ride rethemes and whatnot when they're announced.

I think it will be where Total Darkness was last year, so the store in Hurricane Harbor/Bermuda Triangle.

shame. that spot is so insanely small. total darkness had alot of potential if they had found it more room somehow.

My guess is Grim Hollow will end up where The Hellmouth used to be in front of Buccaneer Battle. Grim Hollow's old area has pretty much been completely taken over by Goliath's line.

I'm a little dissapointed with the lineup this year. I would like to see something else in manslaughter manor's spot, and I have never like wicked woods, but I dont know what else you could put there.

^ I've always hoped to see a clown themed maze in the rapids to match the scare zone. They could turn the station into a big top, and the rest could be something like searching the woods for escaped maniac clowns.

That would make sense. I'm just a little surprised to see them ditch Hellmouth since it fit the are so perfectly, and in my opinion it had some of the better theming and costumes of the scare zones. I'm guessing we could see at-least one of the demons show up in Purgatory Plaza though.

i like the idea of the clown theme for wicked woods. the only good thing about wicked woods is there are a few spots you can scare your own group better than six flags can if you time it.

personally I'd love for one of the water rides to remain open with red water for the blood river. besides the last several years there have been some really warm days with no way to cool off. so far this year i don't think we might have that problem but who knows. we could wind up with 90's Columbus day weekend.

i would also like to see some changes to necropolis and the mausoleum of terror as they have both become stale over the years without any changes.

have to agree with a previous poster too that manslaughter manor should be changed to something else. maybe something better themed to the southwest even?

I suspect that Necropolis might be slightly changed this year due to Golaith. We will know in two weeks.

I went to fright fest back in 2012 on the opening weekend and it was dead... X-flight was brand new and it was a walk on. Bull had about a 5 minute wait and it was pretty fun. My question is did anybody go to fright fest on the opening Saturday last year and if so was it busy?

I did. I spent most of my time in the haunted houses and there were about ten minute waits for all of them. The only rides I remember were the Eagle and Terror Twister 2. The eagle was maybe 15 minutes and T2 was around 20. In my experience opening weekend is the best weekend to go.

The full FF site is live now, although it seems they still have some editing to do (LAFF is listed as "New for 2014" for example), so it's probably not 100% accurate yet. Haunt wristbands are $25 or $35 for express, $5 season pass discount on both.

Usually the first two weekends are not that busy compared to the last two weekends.

Nobody would go if they made it out to be returning for the 20th season. (idek how old it actually is, I'm just trying to exaggerated) Also they could argue that it is updated, thus making it new.

It seems like the other side always wins on American Eagle :?
Also, I've ridden Goliath 23 times in one day. HBU? :P

They used to update the pop culture jokes every year. Assuming they still do. But by this point I'd probably just go for the nostalgia.

^^ I hope you're joking when you say that nobody would go if they didn't call it new. They heavily promote the fact that LAFF is over 20 years old and it still pulls in the biggest crowds of any show at the park.

obviously he hasn't been ever <joking it fills up every year. Last year opening weekend they had a season pass holder only show, and the line went past Whizzer clear to the Orbit. Then when the time came for regular guests the season pass holder 1st entry line was again to Whizzer and people kept coming to that door, when the main doors opened the theater was filled 75% through out there were probably only 15 max seats open. I do love the clown theme for Wicked Woods, but would most definately love to see Blood River make a comeback. They can rig it so it doesn't splash as much and they can slow it down if I am correct.

^It's been awhile. I believe they simply took out the pipes on the trough, or replaced them with smaller ones, so the waves weren't as large. It's actually kind of cool the see how simply rapids are created, in nature and on the ride.

I plan on heading to fright fest the first weekend, on Sunday. My wife and I plan to get the gold flash pass. A question I have is if I buy the flash pass online, is there a separate line to pick it up or do we have to wait in the same line as people buying it that day? We plan to get there early and go straight to Goliath then after pick up the flash pass. Thanks.

Just called Six Flags for another question while I was on the phone asked yours too. You wait in the line like everyone else buying online won't get you yourt transponder any faster, just reserve your FP. If You do it right after Goliath (though you may consider waiting in line if its not bad 30-45 minutes while you have FP waiting for it this way you could do it twice. I would then head to X Flight. And again if line permits do the same thing. Theorerically you could also do the same for AE. I know it kind of defeats the whole reasoning behind the flash pass, but re-rides are only available on PLATINUM please note this; just throwing it out there. Happy Haunts

^ I would recommend waiting until you get to the park to buy it though. I was there for the first Sunday last year and most of the ride lines didn't reach the flash pass merge point. The haunts barely had lines either.

How badly chopped up is Necropolis since the arrival of Goliath?
Candy: What you lookin' at?
Otis B. Driftwood: I'm lookin' at you, mama.
Candy: Yeah, you see something you like?
Otis B. Driftwood: Maybe. I set my standards pretty low, so I'm never disappointed.
