Totally rebuilding a ride that doesn't even exist anymore is a little different than reinstalling some existing kiddie rides.

I'm sorry, but when something doesn't last a month because no one is seeing it, it DOES NOT come back. It's called common sense

They kinda just stuck Screams And Dreams there this year for no reason, if they try it again as part of an overall celebration (and maybe if they do the rumored museum type thing as part of it) I think it could work better.

Any news yet out of the thing at the park this morning? The park just tweeted a picture of it, hopefully we get a video later.

Roll your eyes all you want but unless you have some evidence as to the reason they're not showing it or using the theater at all until Fright Fest, you're just speculating. Let me know when you have some real info or got that promotion to park manager, K thanks.

According to Katy Enrique (as posted by Iron Wolf 90-11 in the Goliath thread), the Pictorium is closed due to low attendance and will reopen for Fright Fest.

Low attendance this year does not mean they won't try it again.

So take something that failed, and then do the exact same thing again. Got it. That's some solid logic right there. [/sarcasm]

Where's the link to her stating that? Is there a video? Some sort of evidence? I guess those who work for amusement parks always tell the truth for their business decisions, hmm? It couldn't possibly be any other issue like staffing, maintenance, etc? Wouldn't this have been the third video in that series? Funny how there was enough popularity to make the first video and show it in the Pictorium and then the second and show it there but all of a sudden, not enough attendance. Okay...

I'll gladly accept your apology if they start showing it again in the future.

^ I don't want to get too involved with this childish debate, but they showed S&D 3 in the 2013 season. This season was a review of all 3 installments in the series. Thus it did not go over well.

I'm not saying they will do it (I'd personally prefer some fancy IMAX stuff like the old days). But if they think it's a marketing problem (and it might be, did they really market it at all this year?), they might try again. Re-edit it into one movie, add a bit of Goliath, rename it "Six Flags Great America - a 40 Season Celebration!", put old ride signs and posters on the walls, say that it's in the "newly restored Pictorium", put big graphics for it on all the park maps, I think you'd have a very different result. And given the theme of the season, it makes so much sense for them to try it.

Childish? But yet you joined it? Anyway, don't point fingers at me when I made a simple observation and he got upset. I will respectfully address your post even though you felt the need to stoop to insults but whatever...

When exactly did they stop showing the video this year? I know it was very early in the season so it would be hard to make an evaluation of the popularity of something when for most of that time, it was only open during the weekends of May. Also, when do a lot of people like to see shows, generally during the hot and sunny days as a reason to beat the heat. It might be because of popularity as the reason they stopped running it but considering it's simply running a movie on a screen and not something that required performers or something else significant in that regard to run it, I don't think popularity was the reason.

Is it just me, or does it seem like this park is on point about what to add for the next season in recent years? Bring in a first-of-its-kind thrill ride one year, a show the following. Huge, record-breaking thrill the year after that, followed by a trip down memory lane.

The park didn't need a big thrill ride in 2015... it needed something like this. Clean up two spots that have been neglected and bring in some family rides from years past.

I was told that every department had to cut one unit for budget reasons when Goliath was taking longer than expected, thus Pictorium was Entertainment's first unit on the list to be let go.

According to Marcus Leshock on twitter, "Every week in 2015, @SFGreat_America plans to celebrate a different attraction.......if it's Raging Bull week, the park will feel like 1999, year it opened. Music from that year playing, etc. Double rides possible, too."

If it's double rides for EVERYBODY, I don't think it would be horrible because you wouldn't have to check the train a second time. Yes, you'd have a longer line, but you'd also get two rides. I think it's fine if its something they just do for one week.

Im pretty sure the ride system requires the restraints be undone and re-fastened each time. every time I have ridden twice in a row that has been the case.

Raging Bull I know for a fact the restraints can be kept locked by holding the "Lock Restraints" button as the train parks. I believe Batman is the same way, but I'm not sure. Still though, a bad idea overall. I don't get how making lines nearly twice as long is a good thing.

Waiting double sucks. But riding double does not suck. Waiting and riding double may or may not suck, and it probably depends on the person. But the park does it one way 99.99% of the time, why not try something different and see how it goes?

Double rides is a very bad idea. I hope they redo all the queue houses because they will be used like crazy.

Yes on rides like Batman, Bull, Demon and kind of on Whizzer you can keep the harnesses locked, but they still have to go through and recheck all the restraints. I don't see its saving as much time as people are thinking it will. Other rides like Viper, Giant Drop, V2, and Eagle the harasses will open every time and they will have to do a complete recheck every time regardless.

Aside from that detail I really like the idea of getting the park cleaned up (at least two sections). After the disaster that was ignite I am excited to see the effort is being put forth to restore hometown square.

To focus on the other part of the tweet, I'll be very interested to see how the "making the park feel like different years" thing works.

Also, he just confirmed that the Hometown Square gazebo is returning.
