This is not only the tallest & fastest giga coaster, but North America's longest steel coaster. 6,602 feet long, 325 feet tall, 81 degree first drop at 95mph & weighs approx. 2,700 tons.
This looks great. Some of the newer B&Ms of this type (Behemoth, Leviathan, and Intimidator) really kind of fizzle out, and layout-wise feel incomplete. This design looks much better thanks to the extra 1,000 ft of track which allow for a finale of sorts. I doubt I'd ever fly overseas just to ride roller coasters, but of the US/Canadian installations, I'm only missing Leviathan and Intimidator- I've greatly enjoyed the rest of them.
Anytime another one of these pop up at a park somewhere, I can't help but wish B&M never designed the dip out of their rides. Raging Bull's first drop remains the best of the bunch, despite the greater height that most of the rest have on it. Build a ride with Fury's 325 foot drop that has a dip off the lift, and you wouldn't even need to worry about wasting track on all those pesky camelbacks and hammerheads- just an Oblivion-esque turnaround back into the station would suffice, and you'd have a winner.
This is by far my most anticipated 2015 attraction. I frickin love it but I'm obsessed with B&Ms & Leviathan is my number 1 coaster sooo no surprise there
I really thought they were gonna partner with the Charlotte Hornets actually. However, they did announce that this is part of a multi-year expansion to bring the Carolinas back into Carowinds so a hornet theme is perfect & I love that they basically say the layout simulates the flight path of a flying hornet. The CP color scheme is refreshing & I can surely see CP themselves using this color scheme in the future. But for now, its the color of one kick a*s new giga goin into the Carolinas & I cannot wait to experience it!
I kinda think of the ride theme as an "unofficial" partnering with the Hornets. They don't technically say that the Hornets are a sponsor or have anything to do with the team, but knowing how excited everyone is about the Hornets name change, you half to think that Carowinds themed their coaster because of it.
I guess you could say then also that Raging Bull is kinda partnered with the Chicago Bulls, though it is a lot less apparent than Fury 325/ Hornets.
I bet you they will have some players be the first ones to ride it, or....at least the shortest player could
1. Bizarro 2. Expedition GeForce 3. X2 4. Top Thrill Dragster 5. El Toro 6. Goliath (SFGAm) 7. Millennium Force 8. Silver Star 9. Apollo's Chariot 10. Goliath (SFOG)
1 Disney is the absolute king of recycling names and 2. I think Carowinds needs to tie this in with Furrys somehow, maybe media day/furry convention. I'd travel to see that
